@@markr9312 One time in 1972 on a charter boat my friend knocked my rod over and broke it. I ended up having to fish with an ultralight rod some guy had with 8 lb test line. a The captain stopped on a sandbar about ten miles out on the way back in and I caught several sand bass over 4 pounds with it. Talk about brutal work getting them to the top. I'll never forget that ❤
@@DwightPerkins-i7t Back in 2013 when I started Kayak fishing and fishing La Jolla on the Kayak, I remember reading stories on BWE of La Jolla Kayak Fishing legends having competitions catching La Jolla Yellowtail using Barbie Rods spooled with braid.🤣😂
I took the boat out to Horseshoe Kelp yesterday. I forgot my fish finder, so I fished blind and skunked out. The thick fog was scary, and it didn't clear until we got back to the dock. Birds and dolphins were everywhere. We even saw a huge whale breach the water. It was definitely very cool to see. The water needs to warm up a little more.
Having a working FF w/GPS is a life saver. I've been in my Hobie years ago in frt of the Cove Point and it was scary hearing the crashing waves, while in heavy fog and 100' visibility. Having the GPS made it reassuring that I was staying out in deep enough water and not getting in trouble.
Here's a video I made shortly after getting the Solo Skiff in July. 2020. The difference is that day the surf was very small. Usually I launch with surf up to 4'. Don't care for any higher, I used to long ago on Kayaks, but it's not fun getting that wet to start. Just as with a Kayak it's about staging in the surf zone and looking for the openings in sets. i might go there on sat but looks like its slow bites but you never know.. in coming tide early peeks like 830am so should be good then just head back in... maybe ill just catch bait fish if slow no big game fish
People who never fished in SD don't realize how aggressive calicos and sands are. I was always amazed at how hard they fight for their size.
@DwightPerkins-i7t A lot of fun, if you target them on lighter gear.

Bait everywhere 😲
Sometimes it make you think, it's too much bait. Thanks for watching. Tight Lines, Glenn!
Hey Mark, can you make a video showing how you launch your Solo into the surf?

Mikey was going to go to LJ this am and launch in the dark. He was going to target WSB and later on search for LJ Yellowtail.
@@markr9312 ill just go to the SD then since action not as good in LJ right now
@@thatonebeone It's good to scout around and get all the info from friends, right now. Tight Lines!
