I don’t do pinks as they make me look like I’ve been crying. That’s one reason I never bought the Huda. Also, $70 is too high a price even if it is a beautiful palette. This dupe takes care if both these problems. As soon as I saw the dupe a few days ago, I ordered it. I very happy Alter Ego came out with another winner and a big thank you for showing the possibilities.
The Rose Quartz palette is such a favorite for me...I've hit pan on three shades! Worth the splurge for sure and totally agree a cheaper one for traveling is a great option!
I love using the gel like formula in the rose quartz palette as a base for some of the shimmer colors!

I like the Alter Ego eye better, personally. But both are beautiful.
In the end the Costal looked much more beautiful in my opinion.

I like the coastal one better tbh! The shimmery shades, especially the blue one. I think the gel formula is for people who like this, but for cheaper and what feels like more colors, I like the coastal palette better! I feel like the matte colors have such slight differences that it doesn't matter that much

Such beautiful looks from both palettes! That being said, the rose quartz has been in my loves list forever and I’m biting the bullet this month and picking it up! The undertones, like you said, are just special and that’s what get me with Huda’s palettes❤ I have the mercury palette from and love it since you recommended a long time ago!! I still use it every spring/ summer and the looks just come out gorgeous every time! You look beautiful Allie, and being a mommy is just radiating all over you💕💕

Just IF this Case ever happens, you can fix it, mixing the powder with Alcohol and put it back in the Pan, than let it dry! 😊 ❤ 👍

Great dupe video Allie! I do love the Rose Quartz palette but your advice of having a dupe for travel purposes and potential breakage is so wise. BTW, Ulta has finally restocked the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base that’s been unavailable for quite some time in case anyone needs to replenish their supply!

If I didn't know you were using different palettes I wouldn't be able to tell. The differences are so subtle. I think your wise to pack the less expensive palette to travel.

Love this look! I have a couple of Alter Ego palettes & a few Natasha palettes. Alter Ego hasn't disappointed me. They compare almost identical to Natasha's. I only find that the pigment is not as rich, but that's about it.

So grateful I get to enjoy your videos on my lunch break hehe. Also I could def see some of the differences with the Alter Ego palette. The mattes seemed to pull more brown and taupe. But still gorgeous all the same. I am a makeup collector so I usually go for the OG expensive palettes haha. (Including the Huda rose quartz). ❤

A question for you ! You’re travelling ‘carry on only’ on Safari for ten days. Because you’re flying internally in Africa you can only take minimal makeup as you’ve a weight limitation. What makeup will you take that can fit into a very in a small cosmetic case? I’m imagining sticks, minis small pots? So hard to find videos for these scenarios.

My mom got me this palette for Christmas and I hardly use it bc the glitter fall out is annoying 😢 I picked this palette bc I thought it was un-dupable and look at the swatches. But for everyday it's just a bit much.

Was really hoping this was the ND pastel palette dupe. The Coastal vibe just doesn't match in my opinion to rose quartz but the colours are nice 😂

I got an Alter Ego palette and was really underwhelmed. It was not very pigmented, all the shimmers greatly exaggerated the texture on my eyelids, and the deal breaker for me is that my sensitive eyes can’t take the formula 😟 I was super sad because I had not seen or heard any reviewers comment about having sensitive eyes, and I wasn’t expecting that to be its downfall. I was prepared for the formula to be a little underwhelming, and I was using it despite that until I realized that my watery and itchy eyes went away when I switched to a different tried and true palette. Anyone else find that knockoff or super cheap formulas (specifically for me, Alter Ego and drug store brands) irritate their eyes?
Thx for this info, I have super sensitive skin and eyelids even some “clean” make-up brands don’t work for me. I just got 2 small Huda pallets and no allergic reaction.
I bought into the dupe hype, and got a ND and ABH dupe palette a few years ago. It was so underwhelming and very disappointing. The colors were dull and blended into a muddy mess.
When ND had a sale, I bought it right away, and the difference was like night and day! I have never settled for a dupe since. There's a reason for the higher price and it's in the quality.
I appreciate Allie for testing an alternative, but for a more affordable option, Elf, Hard Candy, Profusion, L.A. Girl, WetnWild, and Milani would perform better than Alter Ego.
I didn't have eye sensitivity, but I only tried once and wiped off, it looked so bad. Maybe the glitters are too irritating for you. They were definitely chunky from what I recall, while the mattes were dusty and chalky.
I agree. I bought the Alter Ego version of the ND glam palette. It was awful. People were raving about it but I just couldn’t agree. The shadows had hardly any pigment to them. I was tempted to try this one until I read your comment. My eyes are way to sensitive to risk it.
I think choosing the original is truly paying respect to the innovation and the tons of efforts behind the it...just my thought.
But did we really see Dad? Eyes look good. Nah, I’m a one, maybe two, kind of eye makeup woman.
Sometimes I wonder if people are just more inclined to believe the OG, more expensive brand has the better quality in order to rationalize the price. A blind test would be more telling.

You use so many shades at the same time, how can you really tell how any of them perform individually when they’re all on top of each other?

Cheaper palettes may not be as safe as they may use inferior ingredients that may cause eye infections. 😮
