Nice explanation of the quilts and the differences in premium vs. economy. I have two Hammock Gear UQs and one TQ and I think they are great. Couldn't justify the price for premium and the weight difference isn't a major deal to me. I agree that when it comes to winter you just have to deal with more weight. If I was going to thru hike and attempt to hammock I maybe would spring for the premium quilts. Perhaps one day!
Same here Seth. I got the premium quilts in the name of science. Haha gotta try em out. But their economy quilt price is just so good, especially since they still give you all the same features on it.
Good video. I'm a bit of a wimp that hates being cold so I went long and wide on my quilt. I'm 5'10" and I can pull it completely over my head if I want. I'll gladly carry the couple extra ounces for the extra coverage.
Haha yeah, I know plenty of guys that do that too. That will work great in like 35 degrees and above, but below 32 and you risk condensation issues causing you to get cold and your gear wet.
The difference between Premium and Economy, because of the fill power, premium is smaller and lighter, like 2oz lighter and a couple inches less in circumstance. They both pack small
Glad the video was helpful. Unfortunately I don't know exactly how small is possible with these quilts as I tend to have them in a stuff sack with a few other pieces of down. The 950 fill is substantially better at compression and I find to be one of its main advantages for people trying to get a compact small pack to work with their gear.
I have to disagree with you on the draft collar on the ends of the underquilt. You don’t want the inside layer of the underquilt hanging out. Pull up the small shock cords to tighten up the collars on either end. Other than that, good video. Thanks !!
The draft collar will show when you moved around in the hammock. That's what I meant to say. I don't actually force it out like that. I was just showing it in there.
I killed my down quilts.both of them.packed up tight fera campin trip on a Friday but woke up ta my dad no longer with us,life just happened,got covid ... took a while ta remember it...went ta go fera campout....bad stuff....any ideas on a substitute fill fer my next quilts,I kinda shy frum down now.....
Great information
@deebee4817 thanks for watching 😀

This is awesome. Thank you for this. What size compression sack would work with this quilt?

Sorry to hear that story. I hope things are getting better for you.
If down is out, then I would get a synthetic sleeping bag instead.
My tootsies, cold? Pffft! You right tho.
