Gulikit 100% is going to make 3rd party ones. They've already done it for the steam deck. The fact these are modular, it's an open market to slap some in there for 30 bucks a set. Would instantly replace my controller.

i dont have high hopes for the sticks out of the box, however if they manage to sell a lot of them then hopefully a company like gulikit can come out with hall effect versions of the sticks that we can basically drop in and never have to worry about replacing them again
sony can come up with it too, gulikits "patent" is only valid in japan or smth ... and they used a way to make halleffect that is weird, as usually you have one sensor middle and magnet on the stick ( like literally any other good hotas has ... )
Two extra buttons in the bottom is enough. I have never used more than 2 on my Xbox Elite controllers. I just map the left and right thumbstick clicks to the two bottom paddles.
The stick modules are going to be LOVE if stick drift ever develops. I actually haven't played anything on my ps5 yet but i got 2 ds4's, both with stick drift.
my PS5 controller got serious stick drift after just 3 months. Broke on a Saturday so of course i had to run out to Gamestop to buy a new one. Just ordered a Scuff also so hopefully no more angry 7 year old since i'll have a backup.

Eh, I have one and the touch pad is kinda fucked up. It’s only a few months old and I barely played with it, plus I take care of my stuff and it still acted weird. I reset it and it acted fine but later on acted up again.

I'm not trying to invalidate your experience with the dualsense but I'm pretty sure that controller is faulty. If you can get it replaced try it again and see if you run into the same problems. If you have issues with your console as I did, In that case if it's within warranty you can get ur ps5 replaced for free by Sony.
Finally... I wanted to stay away from scuff for the PS5 over horrible experiences with their controllers in the past breaking so easy. I'll be getting this as soon as its out.
I was initially very pleased with my Scuff but was disgusted at the rate I was replacing parts, particularly those sticks that were about as durable as marshmallows. I'll just go with Sony's "Edge" controller assuming there aren't any glaring problems with it. I haven't had any of the stick drift problems, but replaceable parts might address that to some degree assuming they're of much better build quality than Scuff. The only real issue I've personally had with the Dual Sense has been the travel distance of the buttons haven't been optimal in games that require fast reflexes or constant, rapid shoulder button presses, but I mostly play those types of games on PC.
While replaceable sticks sound nice at first sight, on second thought it would be better if Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo wouldn't use cheap hardware for the sticks in the first place. This way it sounds like another cash grap for me. But still better than having to buy a new controller, I guess.
Yeah, looks very cool, will probably be quite expensive but not sure I like the back paddle positioning.....in my humble opinion, Extreme Rate rise 4 is Superb and a perfect option, very well designed, easy to install, works perfectly, great grip, has 2 paddles AND 2 buttons perfectly positioned, easy to configure and VERY affordable. They just basically hit it out of the park with this product and it took Sony FOR EVER to release this. I am a HUGE Sony fan but they had the opportunity to make a statement and should have released a controller with back buttons on release. I'll be keeping my Extreme Rate Rise 4 thanks, and if they release version 5, I'll be getting that for a fraction of the price before paying for what will most likely be a premium price.
Or adapt hall sensors. Gulikit patented one for their King Kong 2 pro controller but the tech has been around since the sega dreamcast. Totally eliminates drift.
yes ik hall effect (or even optical) joysticks exist, but isony is rprobably not going to shell out extra for the hall effect sticks Also, commercially available hall sticks (with similar footprint) are only beginning to appear recently.
You should test out the Rise 4.0 back buttons. Theyre a really easy install if you skip L3 and R3 which require solder. 45 bucks and you also get a textured grip module.

They should have put better haptic feedback on the elite controller and marketed as that because I feel that the ps5 haptic feedback vibration is a little too weak
If you want paddles get them off of amazon for $40. Only downfall is that you have to take the controller apart and attach some cables but its really easy. The paddles have lasted me a year so far and my controller has already gone unusable with stick drift. Instead of a new $200 controller i just buy the regular one and put in the paddles again.

I thought it was just an issue i was running into, my dual sense is dying way to quick all of a sudden. I had left all my consoles gathering dust for about 4 or 5 months and I had only owned the ps5 for about 4 months before that. I started playing again now that i have time and it seems like i have to change between controllers way too often. I do leave them on the power A charging stand, the light goes out when theyre done but i never move them. I asked if this would be an issue and i was told it shouldnt be but im starting to think that it is affecting.
I hate the existing dualsense. Reason is the analog sticks ( L3 and R3 sticks) are too far for the thumb to reach because of the longer, thicker and more protruding lower parts of the controller (no pun intended; don't know actual term) Leading to thumb pain and eventually wrist pain. Matter of fact, Have always hated Xbox controllers too for this reason. I really really really hope and pray that ps4 dualshock works with ps5 games soon. I have played the ps4 versions of gow ragnarok, miles morales, horizon forbidden west ON PS5 for precisely this REASON. I love dualshock. Have played for hours on it without any pain whatsoever. .. Have the devs solved this issue in the new dualsense edge? Plz enable dualshock on ps5 games 🙏🙏🙏

Considering I already have stick drift on my ds5 controller, I would love easily replaceable sticks. Combined with the case that (hopefully) protects the controller in a backpack and I would consider buying one if it's priced fairly.
Throwing the other controller away is crazy cuz pro controllers are almost only great fro shooters every other genre I strongly prefer the regular controllers. Just like on xbox I love the elite 1&2 for shooters but everything else I don’t want the extra clunkyness.

The technology has been used in both the gulikit kingkong pro and the new 8 bit do ultimate bluehthooth controller (both 70 dollars). So it can be implemented cost effectivly. There are no 3rd party controllers this generation. Why are most youtubers this missinformed? Sony has encrypted the dualsense communication protocol for all ps5 games. you can only use either the original dualsense or controllers from Scuff, Aim battlebeaver etc (and does are just oem stock controllers that are bought and modified by these companies). These controllers also have there waranties voided by the modifactions that are made. There are some licensed Sony controller for ps5 that also work like the Raze wolverine v2 for ps5. Sony does not allow for 3rd party controllers for ps5 unfortunatly.

My theory is that this DualSense Edge controller will be for the PS5 Pro Console (possibly PlayStation 5 Edge Edition) and it could be revealed on the rumored PlayStation Showcase on September 8th as they have said the release date and price, etc will be announced in the coming months. Sony did the same thing with the standard PS5 as in revealing the controller first and then the console not long after at the Showcase. I'm hoping there are other people on the same page as me.

Dead zone customization needs to be standard if they're going to keep using the cheap sensors in the sticks. It's the least they can do.

The back paddles look like they are two way actuation. Like you can push them with the back of your finger, and pull them with the fingertip.

There are no 3rd party controllers this generation. Why are most youtubers this missinformed? Sony has encrypted the dualsense communication protocol for all ps5 games. you can only use either the original dualsense or controllers from Scuff, Aim battlebeaver etc (and does are just oem stock controllers that are bought and modified by these companies). These controllers also have there waranties voided by the modifactions that are made.
There are some licensed Sony controller for ps5 that also work like the Raze wolverine v2 for ps5. Sony does not allow for 3rd party controllers for ps5 unfortunatly.
Hoping for higher refresh rate so I can use gyro aim/motion controls to a more exact degree
Great video, great info. I do want to add that you can use PSVR on Steam allowing for a ton of VR games. I wonder if the PSVR2 is going to be able to connect as well.

My theory is that this DualSense Edge controller will be for the PS5 Pro Console (possibly PlayStation 5 Edge Edition) and it could be revealed on the rumored PlayStation Showcase on September 8th as they have said the release date and price, etc will be announced in the coming months. Sony did the same thing with the standard PS5 as in revealing the controller first and then the console not long after at the Showcase. I'm hoping there are other people on the same page as me.
