Unfortunately any order from outside of Canada can charge us Customs, Duty, Brokerage and tax. I have had the same experience and that was with Canada Post.

I’m glad that you are on the mend Liz. Sitting around reading and watching movies sounds great except when you want to be creative. I like watching you decorate your projects as they turn out so beautiful whereas mine are kind of bland but I am working on it. Take care.
it is great to see you getting back to your projects. I must agree with you UPS is not an option for me either locally they are ok because theres not extra fees. I admit I have stopped buying from out of country sellers as i have had so very many strange things occur. Wait times are so far out I forget i ordered things or I inquire about an item and find its lost,. one order $278. US Dollars i tracked it the tracking showed 17 yes 17 moves in Chicago alone it took 8 weeks to arrive, only 3 days after it finally entered Canada it was here. Good luck with your recovery and Happy crafting.
Hubby got burned with exorbitant UPS charges as well, and we both have been burned by Fedex, where a bill arrives in the mail about a week after we receive the item. Lesson learned - I did the same as you, stopped buying from those sellers. As for Canada Post customs and GST charges, same thing, but the charges seem to be more reasonable. I really have to think twice before I buy anything as I'm on a very tight budget. I like what you made, beautiful!
It is getting crazy out there with shipping costs. Would it not make it easier (and give them more profit) for all of them to lower their prices and we would ship things out more often??? Really not sure who their marketing people are. haha. It's so interesting to hear all the crazy shipping stories. TFW and sharing yours!
