Mistake is a rather harsh notion. I think of my experiences like yours as a reinforcement of what I already knew and or as a "character builder". Neither way of thinking makes me much smarter, but reinforcement and character building help me improve. Matty, no matter what you call them, this was great story telling, humility, and teaching! Thank you! KB
I like calling mistakes, because I always come out of the trip feeling like I know better, but make the mistake anyways. And, being on my side of the camera, I often get comments on tip and trick videos, about how "it must be nice to be a perfect backpacker and never make mistakes"
I have no doubt that you are right that someone would say that carrying 90 lbs isn’t that much-however that person is a fool. Thanks for all the great videos this year, I’ve really appreciated them!
@GarryCollins-ec8yo I've got a checklist as well normally, but was admittedly winging it when it came to taking my boy. I was so worried about him having a good time, I definitely overpacked, and ended up missing a few really simple things. Lessons learned
Yep, sweating in winter is a big problem for me, not because of hypothermia but because it's bloody hot in winter where I live. I think the coldest I have ever camped in my area is 10 degrees Celsius. That's why I watch your winter camps, it's like watching an alien camping.
My second time in my life, I’m 61, I went snowshoe backpacking, I made the mistake of hanging out in the cold with friends too long. I had the right gear, but I had a VERY hard time warming up enough to even sleep. My 1st time, only the year prior, am new to this, sleet came in as we were packing up and hiking out. Not a far hike, but I remember thinking that if I were forced to spend another night out, I could face death. Maybe 3rd time will be a charm.
Woo why you outing me🤣🤣 This is matty outdoors..Not backpacking with bucksaw Bo😂 Can’t wait to get out to the mountains on a winter trip feels like forever since I’ve gotten out.
Hey Matty. Long time viewer here. The ring light that you've been using lately is very, very distracting with the reflection off your glasses. I would suggest doing something less direct, more off to the side. Maybe a couple of light boxes offset to the left and right behind camera. Love your content. Happy Hiking and Merry Christmas.
That stroller was tough to watch brother! Great idea for a yearly series too!!!!
You guys were a huge help with it. Id probably have turned around and ditched it at the truck if i was on my own
An annual "mistakes" of the year video would be awesome
The kind of input I'm looking for, thank you!

I'm with you.
I love watching movies while laying in my hammock in the woods.
Audio books are cool too!
@@happyfuntimereviews5600 hammock movie time is #1!

I get those comments on the regular! They're actually quite hilarious
I have a lengthy packing checklist. I no longer forget things.

I dunno if I could survive a winter of no snow, would be super weird for me!

Hiking in cold conditions, and camping out definitely takes some preparedness, and a certain mentality
Love hearing the pain. Always comfort in that. Go Avs.
Wasn't much go in the Avs the other night against Edmonton..
LETS GO OILERS!
Woo why you outing me🤣🤣

@bobellamy7120 I drove a massive bus over myself, and got lonely...
Soon brother, soon. Hopefully January!
No matter how experienced we are mistakes will happen. We learn and adapt
Truth!
