I use to go to Moosehead for two weeks every summer as a child. This is a great video that brought back a lot of memories. Now I want to take my family there again. Thank you for making it.
Great video and story about Moosehead Lake! We were there Sep 2019 visiting family in Bangor, spent time in the Moosehead area and beyond, made a day trip over to Chesuncook Village were my dad grew up. Got to get back again this year!
I finally had a chance to visit Greenville this past Aug for a day for the first time in 20 years since I am usually snowmobiling further North. We took the Katahdin Ferry boat ride out to Sugar Island. All these yeas I have been vacationing in Rangeley during the Summer and Winter, now I see Moosehead Lake. I did not think I could fall in love with 2 locations, Rangeley and now Moosehead Lake. I hope to have a small cottage built up in ME for year round access to the outdoors, but now visiting Moosehead, it has thrown a wrench in my plans. If someone where to ask, what is more beautiful, Rangeley Lake area or Moosehead Lake area, my answer is ......YES.
I met Rocky I’m thinking 25 years ago ice fishing together off the side of Castle Island. His wife was cross country skiing past us and he was telling us the story of Castle Island and the creator of the buildings on it, I’ll never forget he told us about this old hippie artist from New York, he told us his name was Maxwell Shubel I never forgot that he loaned us his bait bucket when he was done and had us drop it off at a small store on the way out of town. Good people good place certainly a nice area and if you have to camp up there I would recommend a place I went to years after that. Casey’s campground is on a peninsula sticking out of the east side Because it’s a peninsula there is a constant breeze we camped a week there for ATV and for one week and I saw one mosquito all the other campgrounds are down in the woods and you do not want to be there. I promise you that.
Rocky taught me every thing I know about down hill skiing. He is one of my hero’s. One of the best men I know. He was the high school ski team coach for years. Him and his wife Betsy.

So glad you enjoyed the film. It's a special place for sure. Well worth the drive to get there. We will be back soon with more films on the area.
We spent a summer vacation to Moosehead Lake last year. It was the best vacation ever.
Can't wait to go back.

Thanks for the comment and the memory. Still an amazing place and so much to explore.
Back in the '90s I explored 17 shipwrecks and worked with the Marine Museum to document and identify many of them.

Thanks for sharing that memory. Rocky is a remarkable guy. Super friendly and knowledgeable--and he never forgets a face!

Went with my Dad and brothers there every summer for over 20 years. Stayed at Rockwood cottages each time. What song is playing towards the end?
He did not mention Pamola
If everyone keeps putting you tube stuff on about Moosehead it will forever be changed for the worse.
