Thanks for visiting us on your vacation! We're excited to have expanded to Mexico and appreciate you coming to take a look. Hope to see you again soon back in The States.
Looks like the size store they were building 25 years ago. Spent a lot of money in the one near me back in the 90's!! It's a dress shop now, big box Petco now just a few miles away! Great Video.....Have fun on vacation!!
This is just a newer petco known as a nexus store, we have them in states as well they are just transitioning to smaller more manageable stores, I have a few in my area.
Agreed Ben. I think the plants on the tanks themselves help a lot with filtration and to reduce stress . It would be nice if they had a quarantine system in the back. When I used to work at Petco as a youngster. They used to have a storage room at the back, you could easily fit a couple of 10g with sponge filters in the back. It doesn’t have to be a fancy rack, even a makeshift one would suffice . If I was a manager That’s what I would do at the store :P
I wonder if they're doing that now. The last few Petco's I went to did not have sick or dead fish in the tanks which used to be very common. They've certainly invested and upgraded the filtration systems. Thanks for stopping by, watching and commenting.
I just saw your video. I travel to Mexico for vacation and would like to know what city in Mexico this Petco is located. Was it Playa Del Carmmen or Cozumel by any chance?
Me and my son went to petco the other day just to look around and see if they had anything for my new tank just hard scape stuff bet we looked at fish also tanks looked very clean and fish looked good too except for couple saltwater fish.not all big box stores are bad. If your LFS sold everything about pets I wonder if tanks would look as good too
My mom is from Monterrey Mexico is the 3 largest city in Mexico its only 2 hours from the border i remember when i was a kid my parents used to take to fish store down there. They were always in nice condition way better then some store here. Now that i am older dont understand why some of are fish stores here are so bad well from where I'm from Wichita ks I'm thinking of opening a fish store here in Kansas i think i could do good. Thanks for showing this video.
I have noticed my local petcos aren’t carrying fluval stuff anymore. I found a 36” fluval Aquasky in their clearance section for $27! Kicking myself for not buying it
Ben Ochart must be because I saw a ton of aqueon stuff in there last time. I didn’t “need” that size light but man it was a hell of a deal and should’ve gotten it anyways. Still on the lookout for their 48-60” Aquasky on clearance. Hopefully I can find a store with one
That Petco looks about the same as the one here in Tennessee. But the one here definitely has more verity of fish. First thing I was thinking when you started showing the fish. Man that’s a lot of decoration in those tanks. Maybe they sell the decorations out of the tanks. Great message at the end. You are so right.
Danny P I think it’s a general taste thing in Mexico the using of more colors, like the gravel, as compared to a more conservative decor in the states.
Ben Ochart I’ve been sick all my life when it comes to pet shops and the critters that they sell. Amphibians and reptiles are my preference, but; I’ve always wanted a community fish tank or two, maybe 3 or 4. I have two empty 55 gallon tanks, a brand new 75 gallon tank and a soon-to-be empty 40 gallon breeder tank. I rescued another 29-30 gallon freebie that was out for trash. I also have a 20 gallon that may be empty by the end of spring. I have a brand new Fluval 407 filter for one of the 55 gallon tanks still in the box. All I need is a hood, lighting, a heater, substrate, decor, water and fish. Your videos are informative and inspiring. The more I watch you, the closer I get to my ultimate goal.
Imagitarium is a line that tries to be as cheap (inexpensive) as possible. I have a couple of their smaller air pumps and have had them in service for a couple years with no issue.
It’s petco’s in-house brand, just like Top Fin at Petsmart. Just stay away from their medications. They’re “all natural ingredients” and don’t contain any real medicine.
That's what I thought. I guess you'd have to find a local licensed importer in the states who can order from a licensed Mexican exporter. Of course that would be expensive and would not involve the big box store at all except maybe to transport dry goods like aquariums and tank decorations ect. Although you'd have to declare it all and pay tariffs. Oh well...
Eric Pellegrino The food was delicious, the people great and the prices about 30% for hotel and food compared to US. Lots of US gated communities are popping up in Baja. You can live well for around 2k a month 😲
You must have visited a different Mexico than the one Donald Trump rages about all the time. I didn't see one drug dealer, rapist or prostitute anywhere in the store although that big snail did look a bit suspicious...lol.
Americanized...the SpongeBob look permeates it. Nothing naturalistic. Sad really that the tanks look so sterile..white decor. Good for supplies. Plants there are a last visit if that's what you want as LFS outdoes them by lightyears. Now,you can find nice things..fish,water plants...but thats like the exception. Petco just wont go Euro or modern Asian with lush setups. Sad!

Thanks Ben for showing us this store. Very nice to see. I totally agree with your special message as well.

LOL, it's not an uncommon obsession, LOL!
Just found your channel & have subscribed & watching your videos. Really nice message @ end of video thanks Tony from UK.
Anthony Garner Thank you Tony 😀👍🏻

I really love Mexico! That Petco looks just like the Petco here in Redding California.

No, we were just south of the border in Tijuana

Good point!
I have found PetCo to be much better than Pet "Smart"....
Edwin from Costa Rica. Hello Ben , nice video THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!
edwin serrano Hello Edwin in paradise 😀

grey goose 01 $27😲😲😲 - sounds like they’ve gotten out of Fluval with those close out prices!

I do this too!!! I'll buy fish and then pick them up and take them home the day I leave....
Good Stuff Sir !!
Wow, I thought I was the only one that looked for pet stores whenever I’m out of town.
Tommy, we're both sick ... in a good way, LOL!

Way better than our Petco that’s for sure
I actually bought that little imaginarium siphon last week for my daughter's 10 gallon tank...gets the job done!
Harmony is beautiful when it's loud!

Would you be able to drive any of those fish back into the states?
Armando Diaz Good Question. I’m not sure.
you can't bring plants or fish, drive them over or across any country line or fly them across .

Is there no limit to how far you will go for your subscribers ? :)
Hasta luego!
Jim
It's very similar because it's a chain. It's like saying McDonalds are different in different states . It's all the same
I wonder if they get some sort of sale on aqueon tanks.
It was in their advertisement. How's your Spanish reading skills? 😉😀
Not a pearl gourami, its a Gold Gourami....and a nice looking one. That Petco beats all I've seen in USA.
That's the same size & layout of the UK equivalent of Petco
It's called pets at home
Pretty nice..👍
The last comment was 2
Years ago😢
Not anymore. Thanks for watching and commenting😉😀👍🏻
Auratus should be sold with a warning label!! That was funny, and so true. Thanks for sharing Ben.
Store looks 10 better the. My local store. And nothing but facts with your end message
Any reptiles tho?
I believe they did have some ... but I concentrated on the fish.
They have moniters
Better than my pet co my store is weak 😂
MEXICO is a pretty big country. lol
What city are you in?
Jon Burg just south of the border, getting some dentistry for my wife (“medical vacation”)
5 fps video ?
I have found PetCo to be much better than Pet "Smart"....
Go to Rosarito you will love it there .
Went there many years ago and I did love it (especially the lobster dinner with Coronas for $6😉😀)!
Is anything better in Mexico
