His garden is beautiful. He really knows about AZ gardening. We just got back from Ahwatukee picking our friend's Oro blanco tree. (Our fav grapefruit tree now). It's even sweeter & less acidic than Ruby.

The reason for the sweeter taste in the winter is actually because a higher concentration of glucose in the cells of the plants will rise up the freezing temperature of water. This is an evolutionary addaptation to the cold climate many plants have to face in the winter months. Another good example in the animal world would be the wood frog (as an extreme example) who pumps his system full of glucose before he totaly freezes in the winter.

Peniel-Tobias Scheunemann Very interesting! Who knew glucose was Nature's anti-freeze? Thx for the info.

I dont think of it as a high.. I think of it as an energy boost from the nutrient jump.

Getting ready to plant a BUNCH of Moringa. I have PKM1 and PKM2 seed. Which one is best for leaf production and which one is best for drumstick production??? Which grows the fastest??? I would like to get a micro climate established here in the high Mojave desert, 70 miles south of Vegas.

Jake, I agree that "Arizona Sweet" oranges are the best tasting, even over my former fav, the navel oranges. AZ Sweets have a short season, but worth, if you can find em.
