Yeessssss. I love this. IF this was based on my comment from like 9 months ago - then I actually suggested it on your haul for the pink bunny one, so it's perfect that it's in there!
My favorite part is him not reacting at all while Kayla lists the types of holes like she’s in a Forrest Gump movie. I figured at least he would be chuckling but he’s very serious about the vacuuming
There are moments when I am reminded why I love watching you so much. The unintentional comedic timing of Rob vacuuming the car RIGHT as you begin to review the mediocre smut in the book and how you continue your review without even flinching or pausing was so incredible. The repeated use of the word hole was the cherry on top. Just so unhinged and hilarious. 🤣
You deserve a prize for not DNFing any of these selections !!! I really was expecting a series of "I read 50 pages, and I can't do it anymore" clips haha.
@@BooksandLalaNo worries, after I jumped and my heart settled down I got a good laugh. Sorry you didn’t read any winners this go around but I still thoroughly enjoyed it!
Would love this to be a series- but with different criteria for choosing your tbr each time. Like, books in a series, books of a certain colour, the oldest ones, whatever (much more creative) options you could come up with 😂
I love that we get to see this side of you! You’re always so kind and respectful with your critiques but sometimes some books just aren’t worth that energy.
I was actually hoping you would find some gems. The TBR closet has a special place in my heart since that's how I found your channel, but it is also a very dark placed filled with questionable choices lol
1:17 the famed tbr closet. It’s waaaaay more organized than I’d been picturing. I was kinda picturing piles of books stacked on the floor and tucked behind moth bitten sweaters
Dan Jones is a medieval historian and usually writes very accessible non-fiction about that time period. Maybe fiction just isn’t his forte. If you’re interested in medieval / Middle Ages history I do really recommend his non-fiction
Me seeing THE LIGHTHOUSE WITCHES toward the bottom of your TBR closet honestly still gives me hope that one day, years from now, you’ll read one of my favorite books!
my boyfriend’s new favourite activity is standing in the background while i watch these videos so he can say “OH BURN” whenever Kayla casually flames a book
Book covers often make me feel more tempted to read a book sometimes. Leads to me randomly adding them to my TBR without thinking. I think you should ask people their favorite and most hated covers and flip a coin to see which you read. 😂
Now you can put all those books into the Free Little Library box! Shelf space gained. The books might not have been a five star but the video is... well, maybe not a five star, LOL, but it was very entertaining to watch while I ate my Thai leftovers from the comfort of my bed. Ages ago (probably IN the 90's), I read that Daheim series ("the bunny book"), and I cringed so much when you were describing the plot. I'm going to find where I've stashed those books and add them to MY Little Free Library box. In fact, I've been considering unhauling a half dozen or so old series and this video might have finally tipped my hand into doing it. For that, I thank you!
I am a little late on this video but I wanted to come here and give a wave and say "Hi! It's me! I'm who the Tale of the Tailor and the Three Dead Kings is made for!" I absolutely love that Mediaeval short story and that it's not really modernised. There is something so comforting and beautiful about the little tale that I reread it every now and again if I just wanna pick up something that'll make me remember why I love stories. I get that's not for everyone, like most Mediaeval stories and lays probably wouldn't be, but there is certainly an audience, and I think something like sharing a curiosity from the past is always worth it and purposeful. That being said, I get where the disappointment comes from and I can't wait for the great Kayla reads to come
Have you heard of the ABC TBR challenge? (Its exactly what you think it is, reading a book for every letter of the alphabet) Maybe that would be a cool ideia for you to do with the TBR closet!
I enjoyed I keep my exoskeletons to myself. So jelly you found it cheap at a library sale because I wanted a copy after reading an arc and bought it full price for a pricey import hardcover as it wasn’t even published in Australia 😭 had been hanging out for an ex library copy on betterworldbooks but they never had one
I know this will never happen but I really think you would like Harrow the Ninth (and especially Nona, she has your vibes) and The Scorpion Rules, if you ever want to read more
i feel like i need to do this and get some of the random crap off of my shelves. but i have a feeling it will go about as well as this did for you! p.s. did not know Jandy Nelson was coming out with a new book! how exciting.
I have tears running down my face... the books may not have been entertaining but you sure are! Hole is not cute. So many Emilys. 5 star review of this review!❤
I have that same Nalo Hopkinson book tagged on Libby because I've heard good things about her and that was the only book my library system had. I don't think I've seen anyone talk about any of her books though.
My physical TBR is interesting bc so many of the books are ones I got from little free libraries around town that I never would have picked up otherwise so I don’t feel as guilty about not getting to them right away or DNFing them
I’m currently listening to Drew Barrymore’s book, Wildflower and I saw your review about her being your spirit animal. Anyway fast forward to today and your reasoning for reading The Devil You Know at 6:24 sounded very Drew Barrymore lol
You and Rob should read Game of Thrones together!! I've been wishing for years that you'll pick up the series because it has so many elements that you love, and if you both haven't watched the show either omfg, you would have so much fun reading it!!! Especially if you both love Dune omfg just read it already!!
honestly you should do like, a reading vlog where you read from your closet but only after you read the synopsis and you read the ones that appeal to you the most! like reading the synopsis of all of them and putting them in order of intrigue, kinda like the try a chapter thing but taking way less time. that way you can find some winners in there perhaps
defekt is genuinely so good, and really retains the essence of finna while being pretty different story-wise! one of my all-time favorite novellas; i hope you do eventually get around to reading it and would love to see your review
Omg, another LitenVerse lover!!! I rarely see people who've read the series. I love these books so much and Defekt in particular. Such an underrated gem!
@@booksvsmovies ahhh yes so glad to find another fan of the series!! it really is so underrated. nino has such an amazing writing style that’s just so effortless and so compelling. i’m really hoping for a third installment in the LitenVerse but not sure if they’re planning one or not 😔
The way you describe the TBR closet, I've pictured it as just a heap of precariously stacked books. I'm a little disappointed by how neat it is, haha Also, I know you hated reading these, but it was fun to watch!
Any content in the closet is always so fun 🎉 But with all the bad reviews to books you’ve been holding on to it’s seems it’s time to get rid of all the other ones you’ve been holding on to as well. Maybe read the first chapter of all them for a video? Or do like monthly weekend reading vlogs or 24hr reactions and read through as many in the closet as you can?
I was worried about spoilers but then you picked the books and I knew none of them and was like "I'm not sure anyone has these on their TBR" 😂 I know I'm probably wrong but I'm excited I can actually watch a spoiler vlog without reading the books first
I definitely think that you should be proud that you got through those books even if you didn’t like them that’s five books removed from your TBR that have been there for some time and that’s always a good feeling. Also, maybe this will give you the strength to remove some of those books out of your TBR and unhaul them. I say this with the giant TBR though lol
Oooh you know what would be a really fun blog? (You've probably thought of this before...) Rereading 1 & 2 star reads from the very start of your channel, when you were a different reader and reviewer.
Yeessssss. I love this. IF this was based on my comment from like 9 months ago - then I actually suggested it on your haul for the pink bunny one, so it's perfect that it's in there!
Yessss that was the comment!! 🙏🏻💕 Thanks so much for the inspiration!!
@@BooksandLala hahahaha. Sorry it ended up a bust ! It was still fun to watch though !!
The repeated use of the word ‘hole’ while Rob vacuums behind you was the exact unhinged content I needed today
Loved that the vacuum cut just in time for her to say cuntcuntcuntcuntcunt 😂
My favorite part is him not reacting at all while Kayla lists the types of holes like she’s in a Forrest Gump movie. I figured at least he would be chuckling but he’s very serious about the vacuuming
Yes exactly. Came to the comments to make sure we all had the same reaction lmao
Rob vacuuming while you’re reviewing smut killed me
I fucking died 🤣🤣🤣
I laughed so hard
Rob!!! 😂😂 19:43
I’m here for Rob’s review of Fourth Wing 😂
You saying "hole" repeatedly while Rob was vacuuming the car had me dying lmao
"I'm gonna spoil this entire book because, be honest, you're not gonna read it" had me audibly laughing with the sheer accuracy.
I definitely lol at that comment because I have in fact read that duology 😆
@@pink16ful even more hilarious 😂
The best part of all this is that you can’t even unhaul these because you need to keep them for your Worst Books of 2024 video in 9 months 💀

That vacuum going off in the car was a jump scare for me 😂.
Sorry, I genuinely didn't think it would be that loud 😂 I tried to edit the volume a little lower for that clip but then you couldn't hear me 😅
@@BooksandLalaNo worries, after I jumped and my heart settled down I got a good laugh. Sorry you didn’t read any winners this go around but I still thoroughly enjoyed it!
The worst was the hand suddenly appearing on top of the backseat. I didn’t even know what the noise was, my heart jumped in my throat
Figured that just showed how little you cared about these books 😂
Would love this to be a series- but with different criteria for choosing your tbr each time. Like, books in a series, books of a certain colour, the oldest ones, whatever (much more creative) options you could come up with 😂
BTW this video is full of spoilers, so tread lightly if they are on your TBR (which I doubt they are anyway lol)

I was actually hoping you would find some gems. The TBR closet has a special place in my heart since that's how I found your channel, but it is also a very dark placed filled with questionable choices lol
Buying a book because one person on the internet said it was good is the relatable content I needed today.
I do this all the time when someone says a book is good 😂

NO WAY NO WAY LULLABIES FOR LITTLE CRIMINALS IS literally the book that got me back into reading as an adult i love it so so so much i hope you do too
I'm excited for this, but somehow this plan seems counter-intuitive to you getting yourself out of your 'pit of despair'. 😂

@BooksandLala I'm not entirely sure if your use of "hole" in this comment was intentional.
