In America you can just call a location by cross street i.e. 'A street and B road' and it's so convenient when it comes to calling an Uber or cabby. Like, the Google Map and Apple Map both can pinpoint the exact location by that method. I wish that system worked everywhere in the world, I don't know why it doesn't.

Because America (and Canada) build their roads like a grid system in most places (squares). This isn't the case in most other countries because of geography, topography, political history etc. You have to remember that the US has vast, relatively flat areas, unlike many other places (like Japan).
