@waldenhouse its actually a class 57, a variant of the 47 class, same shell different innards i presume, and yes it was modified for Virgin trains to recover Voyager and pendo sets that have broken down, (or in the case of the pendo's, need to be taken off electrifed lines because of line maintenance or power line issues). kinda also looks class56 ish as they have a grille where the pendo recovery coupling is
