I’ll take the side of the men that fought that day instead of a CIA or democrat take. I’ve listened to interviews of Oz, Tonto and Boone. I believe their side
In all honesty, after reading the books and watching the movie, the movie itself is one of my absolute favorites of all time because the key thing I took from it, and the reason I watch it over and over again, is because it is a great story about how a small group of like-minded people can work together in extreme circumstances and do extraordinary things. So many obstacles were stacked against these guys, yet they overcame all of them together. It is terrible the loss of the ambassador Chris Stevens, the IT man Sean Smith, contract operators Glen Doherty, and Tyrone "Rone" Woods, and the other casualties. But they worked together, took care of each other, and fulfilled their purpose to serve and protect.
Kris Paranto has said in multiple speeches that the militia that they thought ran away after the incoming mortars actually went and found the mortar crew and took them out. He has also said that points in the fight he had random libians in office attire taking a knee next to him engaging the attackers. It was Gidaffe's troops who ultimately came to their rescue also stated by kris.
The situation with the militia groups in Benghazi sound just like medieval to classical period armies just turning on each other and switching sides for the highest bidder and profit. Something that modern western armies, especially US, are not familiar with. Add in the language barrier, and there's no wonder that they had so much trouble.
I can honestly say listening to the GRS guys tell the story made me feel exactly the same as when I watched Afghanistan fall. It is absolutely gut wrenching sorrow for what our piece of shit government chooses to do. Americans gave their lives in both instances and we were betraying people who we gave our word to, as a nation. I will never forgive them for what they have done.
We Canadians did the same, and I hear you - hard to forgive such a blatant betrayal. How could we tell these interpreters & other directly hired Afghans that in exchange for their services, they will be flown out of danger to Canada...and 10+ years later, they didn't make it out during a last minute evacuation? They shouldn't have still been there in the first place... f**king pathetic on our part 😔😡
@@chrisburke624 Watch The Covenant by Guy Ritchie. Its about a soldier saved by his terp and him trying to get him and his family a visa. Amazing movie
It’s pretty evident by now that the US government as a whole, including its deep state element, is an evil entity. The Taliban were willing to give up Bin Laden, but the Bush Admin wanted war.
Everyone pissed about his response needs to learn what to listen for. He said far more than you understand, but also clearly stated he can't go into detail.

So weird to have an item from a film you are watching and see it right next to you on a shelf !!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I personally think he is touching on a larger issue with US forgein policy, especially when it comes to committing military forces in a country or region, and that is that we fail, as americans, to acquire a deeper understanding of the history, ethnic tensions, culture etc. We often make the assumption that everyone wants to be like us, have what we have, value what we value, and that is simply not the case.
It’s exactly the same. You would not kill your own brother because your neighbor picks a quarrel with him. It doesn’t matter who’s wrong. We think they are lesser people, so they will act vastly different than we would. But it turns out that we’re wrong. Always wrong about this.

I came to the same conclusion in looking at the conflicts we've been involved in the Middle East. America is always going to be stuck behind the 8-ball in this region because we seem to never understand that no matter what good we try to do in regions of conflict, we're always the outsider. We've seen it time and time again. I don't know how you can even call the Benghazi effort a 'diplomatic mission' when there were no established power structures in that country at all after Khaddafi fell from power. I know that's part of the gamble to help one faction gain power in expectation of a return on some investment but when it goes bad, it goes very bad.
Straight up, he doesn't. Its hard to see the benefit in connecting those dots, because you're right - those dots don't really connect. In other countries it can make sense tho. Well, supposedly, one of the theories, is that it had to do with Gadaffi changing over to a gold-backed currency which would've eroded the security of the U.S. petro dollar which if that happens, will make our currency even more worthless thus affecting every U.S. citizen's pockets.

Exactly. This guy was former CIA and he REALLY believed the Natives would side with them in a fight??? Reallly????? The ONLY reason the locals were being nice to them is because they were getting paid American dollars. My god, it's like these guys have learned nothing from decades of failures.
supposedly CIA officers should have a graduate level education, but all they do in the field is throw cash at every problem they face, not as sophisticated as Hollywood likes to make it out to be
Real talk, you can't really expect people fight there neighbors on there own streets for a foreigner, you honestly have to respect that. Foreigners will leave and they will stay. The malita did help them in a way, they didn't turn there guns on the foreigners.
I actually never really thought about how they relied on the locals like that and it makes sense now why the guy was calling the other leader in front of the GRS team
You use local people to protect you for their capability to provide you with information and help you avoid known threats. The only way they get in to a decisive firefight if they are doing it against their archenemies or they are not given no choice by dislocating them and landing them in the middle of the enemy.
The choice to rely on local security was Chris Stevens the president and the secretary of state advised Chris Stevens that a security detail would not be ready to go for 2 more weeks, Chris Stevens insisted that his network with locals could provide adequate security despite the fact that things were heating up in Bengazi.
Where did you find this information? Everything I have seen since it happened was about Stevens requesting additional security and alerting the Obama administration to the growing threat in the area. I'm pretty sure the movie also showed Stevens informing his superiors about his security concerns.
That part where Bob says that the Libyan Militias know each other. This comes to my mind. Tanto-"You have their phone number? How the f**k do you have their phones number?"
Networking... Community Organizing like Barry did to our entire government and institutions in 8 years.... Most people that are just corrupt or like movies and have a crappy poor life living in the middle east on falafel can actually become an acquaintance and maybe a local contact or friend even if they are not a goatfucker terrorist jihadi..jihadi So networking does happen in the field from time to time and a favor is traded here and there if it does not involve treason... unless you were a part on the inner circle and staff of the Obama/Biden administration and HillaryClinton as your SOS... So, networking probably... Tanto is quite crafty...even though he was an army dude...
Because they fought Gaddafi together and had to coordinate then. And they worked together for a while, before it all erupted in chaos and infighting etc.
Such insight into the indigenous culture and the mindset of those we are befriending and teaching to defend themselves. At the end of the day we only have each other’s backs. Ninja’s comment about the uniqueness of the American fighting spirit compared to the rest of the world was surprising. The only other nation I would include in that is Israel and the IDF. Because if they don’t defend their territory they don’t just lose their land they lose their entire population. Great video and congrats on the 1M subs. Keep up the great content Shawn.
America isn’t fighting against its own people though, I couldn’t imagine being at war in your own country against your own people. Mexico even has to do that against the Cartels.
@@James_Edward59 The United States govt is absolutely at war against it's civilians. They target us hourly with psyops. They kidnap and kill whistleblowers. They inject us with poison and call it safe for profit. They feed us poison in our foods. Get real.
Reminds me a lot of Iraq... Shia, Sunni, and Kurds. Shia and Sunni hate each other but both hate Kurds. We had to live among that tension when deployed in Iraq. Felt bad for the Kurds though; gassed by Saddam in the 80's, overlooked by us during the war in Iraq, abandoned by trump so he could continue his favortism to Turkey/Russia--leaving Kurds to get attacked/bombed without our support. I went up to the Kurdish area of Iraq for 4-day pass in my year deployed to Tikrit nearly 20 years ago now. The resort was one of Saddam's old ones in Northern Iraq. It was then run by Kurds and used mostly for 4-day passes for military deployed in Iraq. In the resort though, the Kurds had a big map of that area of Iraq but their area clearly bordered and labeled as Kurdistan. They're still waiting for their own country after all these years. It's sad af.
What he says at about 6:00 about the American fighting spirit and how we (or really politicians) think that because we trained a foreign force they'll suddenly internalize our same fighting spirit is spot on. Look no further than that basic concept as to why the Taliban retook Afghanistan so quickly. It's not rocket surgery. The Afghan army did not care about their own fighting spirit the way we do.
"they have not adopted our mentality of helping others..." Coming from someone close to the US military or intelligence organizations, that is borderline comedical.
Shawn, is there anyway you can bring an insurgent on the show? I served in Iraq and did CRAM, it's nothing to what you guys have done, but I would be curious on their side of some of the battles against the US. They seem to be not just dudes off the street with AKs.
That would be so f**king awesome actually, great idea! We are told they hate us because of this & that, and most people just believe it. I'd love to hear the other side of things, directly from the horse's mouth sort of speak

I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but I get the impression that Poras and Ryan would do the same thing as the locals did if this happened in the states. At least, I hope they would.
Great statement.. " You cannot out do the American fighting spirit". That is a true statement that not only applies to the men of this country, It also applies to the women of this country. Women will be the first to pick up arms and defend their family and country. Never stand between a woman and her family. Hell haveth no fury like a woman scorned. God Bless the USA
Can't you? Germany has shown how far their fighting spirit really goes, America has not proven any such thing yet. It's easy to show "fighting spirit" when you almost always have the extreme upper hand in terms of air support, artillery support, etc. I have yet to see handfuls of Americans holding on against hordes of infantry, tanks, being blasted by artillery, strafed etc. and still fighting on to let the women and children escape just a mile further, knowing it will mean their own deaths or horrid captivity that they either won't survive or that will scar them for life. Not knocking them. They're great soldiers. Just laughing at such bullshit statements.

Exactly. This guy was former CIA and he REALLY believed the Natives would side with them in a fight??? Reallly????? The ONLY reason the locals were being nice to them is because they were getting paid American dollars. My god, it's like these guys have learned nothing from decades of failures.
supposedly CIA officers should have a graduate level education, but all they do in the field is throw cash at every problem they face, not as sophisticated as Hollywood likes to make it out to be
These are great videos in the study of anthropology.
First time I’ve heard this explained so clearly. Everyone should know that You can only rely on You.
Can't elaborate on "some administrative stuff." So what are you doing here? The administrative stuff is what Benghazi is all about.
Real talk, you can't really expect people fight there neighbors on there own streets for a foreigner, you honestly have to respect that. Foreigners will leave and they will stay. The malita did help them in a way, they didn't turn there guns on the foreigners.
Is this like the 2023 version of the news?
Remember, we are Always Outsiders,
even if you Are Married in to their families,...
When command becomes politicized it becomes blind, lax and naive.
He basically saying they can't shit the place they sleep or someone will take a dump on them
It seems to me that would be part of their Militia 101 class. You can buy people but you can't buy their loyalty.
I never understood why the the mortors weren’t used at the beginning to attack the embassy. It seems like the bad guys got it backwards
Great stories! I’ll say it again, Shawn has the best guest on yt
Dude definitely knows he’ll get wacked by Hillary if he really ripped off the band aid
An old Arab proverb: " I, against my brothers. I and my brothers against my cousins. I and my brothers and my cousins against the world."
The whole two part interview was hard to listen to and follow. Maybe I’m dumb but I felt that he used a lot of words to say very little.
You can tell when this guy is lying, his mouth is moving!!
That part where Bob says that the Libyan Militias know each other.
This comes to my mind.
Tanto-"You have their phone number? How the f**k do you have their phones number?"
Networking... Community Organizing like Barry did to our entire government and institutions in 8 years....
Most people that are just corrupt or like movies and have a crappy poor life living in the middle east on falafel can actually become an acquaintance and maybe a local contact or friend even if they are not a goatfucker terrorist jihadi..jihadi
So networking does happen in the field from time to time and a favor is traded here and there if it does not involve treason... unless you were a part on the inner circle and staff of the Obama/Biden administration and HillaryClinton as your SOS...
Maybe Ukraine should be on that list as well. Who would have imagined they would have been able to hold back the Russian horde ?
America isn’t fighting against its own people though, I couldn’t imagine being at war in your own country against your own people. Mexico even has to do that against the Cartels.
@@James_Edward59 The United States govt is absolutely at war against it's civilians. They target us hourly with psyops. They kidnap and kill whistleblowers. They inject us with poison and call it safe for profit. They feed us poison in our foods. Get real.
Tortured defiled and administration sat on their hands..... F'n unacceptable IMNSHO
Very telling. Change policy accordingly
So the movie should have come out and showed something but when asked if you would your answer is “no they prolly wouldn’t be good”
Choosing words carefully
He really didn’t want to answer that question at all. I have never heard someone dance around a question so much.
If in watching this video, you were looking for an indictment against Clinton, you didn’t get it.
And the Taliban care more
Same as the Germans assuming the Italians would also fight just as hard as they were.
Well ya because they didn’t believe in the cause. If you don’t believe in it you won’t have that fighting spirit.
@@chrisburke624 exactly! I interacted with the dudes who fixed the AC systems, cooked our food and washed our clothes. One was from Pakistan. They were cool and we didn't have any issues with them. It's a weird feeling on why someone wants to kill you and you them, while being complete strangers. I hear you
Ahhh yes. That would be an epic ending to the SRS. A great interview followed by Allah Akhbar and boom.
@@aztronomy7457 lmao!!!!!!!
@@aztronomy7457 I get that too lol idk maybe it could happen? The interview not the boom lol
Don't ignore combat indicators act upon them....
Exactly what happened in Tora Bora.
IF YOU ARE NOT OF THEM, THEY ARE NOT OU YOU!!
I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but I get the impression that Poras and Ryan would do the same thing as the locals did if this happened in the states. At least, I hope they would.
great Sir, Help in order but the package isnt good for locals to know how to use?
The wars that are designed to be endless - for the benefit of the few. Namaste x
@@youtubemodsaresnowflakelef7692 Its all bullshit. Great name by the way, I'm surprised they haven't censored you.
@@tao196580241 It's my 8th or 9th youtube account and I've already received warnings that I violated guidelines saying "mean" things to people.
@@youtubemodsaresnowflakelef7692 That is funny, I just received a warning yesterday.
@@tao196580241 Your other reply to me is gone also. As in I can still see it in the notifications and I could see it when you posted it, but it's not there when you click to expand the replies on your OP.
Happens with mine also. And it'll get worse before the ban. It starts out with having a few reports against you, where you say "mean" things (esp. against protected groups), and from there you get an ever increasing list of words that you can't write in your comments (or parts of phrases) depending on what you're reported for.
Ie I have to use euphemisms or missspell certain words, or a comment won't stick (especially if it's an op comment/starting a thread), such as "RelofPeacer" for the adherent(s) of a certain relig. group.
Fucked up things is when you tell people they mostly don't believe it, and you'll actually have to show them (ie streaming or IRL), that youtube can and does censor people like that.
LOL Imagine believing one word out of anyone in the CIA...
Which of the two ex-CIA contractors in this video are you referring to?

Just watched 13 hours too.
So he doesn't like that the event wasn't depicted in a more positive light?
So if they knew the militias wouldn’t help the Americans then why did they think any different during the Benghazi attack? Pretty much says it all!
He’s explaining a lot about the difference between the western mindset and the eastern mindset. Most people don’t really understand how different they are.
