Thank you for showing us what is going on in our area of SWL. I used to work in journalism and it is so difficult to approach people in hard times but people need to see what is happening in our area. The national news just continues to show Fort Myers Beach for most of the time and isn't covering how wide spread this storm reached. I'm so lucky to live well east of 75. Prayers for all who are suffering.

Not judging but I grew up in central FL and grandpa told me all the old-timers said to not build 3-5 miles of beach area . His house was built on 5 ft cement pillars as we're all neighbors . The amount of construction has gone a long way to destroy drainage . I went thru Donna in Orlando as a child . Not the flooding issues of this storm . I saw portions of I-4 were impassable . I do think the Disney and Kissimmee flooding a result of inadequate engineering planning . So sad for all . The whole state is suffering .

Yes there is sand everywhere because it was displaced from the beach so it looks like it was snowing there. But it’s not nearly as bad as Fort Meyers. The reason you can’t get in is because residents there haveva lot if money and they police presence to keep ppl from coming in and residents getting robbed. So you can’t get in unless you live there… There are some homes that are badly damaged but it’s not decimated like Fort Meyers and Sanibel

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS East of 41 had massive damage along the river and creeks. 7 feet of water on side streets off of Pennsylvania Ave and Terry Street 5 feet on Streets near Oak Creek. 5 feet of water in homes garages in Bonita Bay, 4 feet on Old 41 in historic downtown ....etc. I live in one of the highest spots in Bonita and just became aware of the waves coming across streets 2 blocks from my home. My friend was out in the storm rescuing people and shooting video. They were in a jacked up pick up. Way more damage then you surmise in your video.

After hurricane Ida here on the different bayous South of Houma it looked like a bomb was dropped even the wood were like splinters but every car truck that passed we al waved and even though we didn't have power or water we invited anybody that stopped at our house to eat (we had generac luckily) however if they were outside at night time they were there to steal 1 shot in the air took care of that. We didn't have the storm surge because they had just finished building a dike to hold back the water. Unfortunately it was total deviation people started committing suicide my companion had to get nerve medication because after you can't sleep or eat. I don't even know how to explain it really. I pray that you guys are safe because people can get weird if you know what i mean thanks for sharing ❤ ✌ oh many people had insurance for like 50 years without ever filing a claim and the insurance gave them hardly nothing or the insurance claimed bankruptcy hopefully you younger generation can just put that money in an account for if it ever happens to you even though what you paid that insurance company is more than what it would cost to build a new house they just stole you can always count on yourself

When cars drive by with curious occupants, or a phone recording, it makes people feel like animals in a zoo, or a side-road attraction.
Naturally they are angry about people profiting from their suffering, instead offering to help them.

And, a lot of the builders in Michigan dubbled the cost of a home from year 2000, 175000$ to 500000$, then build new condos in Florida, we're most buyer's don't even live in this country & make to much shade on the beach, yet alone to many sink holes now, were a normal person can't injoy or afford staying in Florida.
