I think the "every down" standard for Kickers and Punters is unlike other special Team guys. Kickers and Punters aren't competing for every down positions, their role is there and you can't just sub in any other player for an elite kicker or punter. Seems silly to hold them to a standard like that.
Yeah I had this same thought. Are we gonna deny Justin Tucker HoF simply because he didn't play every down, even though his skillset is absolutely vital to winning games?
I do think this is Barry's biggest L take, football is a team sport regardless of if one position is harder than another. With the amount Barry complains about bad kickers missing in the NFL you'd think he'd value the good ones

Hines Ward is the all time catches, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns leader for a franchise that has had a TON of really good wide receivers. That should be enough of a case for him to be in, and the fact that people think Edelman should be in the HOF while a guy like Ward isn’t in is insanity
If Hines is a HOFer is Anquan a HOFer? I think WR is just stacked same as RB, MLB and edge rush in the NFL HOF. Andre Johnson isn't in yet and he was easily one of the best receivers in the league for almost a decade.
I don't think that's the winning argument for the same reason Steven Jackson is the Rams all-time leading rusher over Bettis, Faulk, Dickerson, etc. Ward will get in based on stats, post-season success, and as undeniably the best blocking WR ever. P.S. Jackson is one of my favorite RB's ever. Hate the lack of respect on his name.
We are not weighing him against those who played for the Steelers. We are weighing him against the every WR ever, so Ward is borderline. Edelman is an easy no though

How are you gonna penalize specal teams for not being every down players? They play every special teams down. Why not also penalize QBs since they only play offense and not "every down"?
Yeah it's a huge L take. Especially when players like Brees relied so much on YAC of his receivers I think you could say no QB deserves the HoF because they weren't out there getting any of those yards. I guess HoF is only for WR and RBs

Freddie Freeman. He was a bit of a compiler, but for the last several years he’s led the league in multiple offensive categories. He has a ring, as well as an MVP (albeit in a shortened season). I think 2 more all-star caliber seasons puts him in.
The things Tucker and other kickers have done for the game its crazy not to say they’re hall of famers. Not every kicker deserves that moniker but some most definitely do. Kickers have the game in there hands all the time and most 4th quarter comebacks end in the QB trying to get the KICKER in field goal range. If you take your QB out to give the KICKER a chance to seal the game that’s a pretty solid indication that they’re worth a lot more than he’s implying. Kickers are Hall of Famers, especially Tucker. Period.
I remember him getting burnt by Andre Johnson of the texans. He also got burnt quite a bit by Michael Crabtree, who had Alex Smith and Kaepernick throwing to him. Yea Peterson was good but he just couldn’t consistently shut down receivers, even just good receivers who had crappy quarterbacks.
I think that if you are immortalized in a play, that becomes part of footballb history, football's lore, you should be considered for the Hall of Fame. Talking to you, Lonnie Lett
Kevin Kolb's jersey is in the HOF that he wore during that game where he threw 7 TD passes, even though Kolb himself will never make it in. I think stuff like that would be fine for people who made memorable plays.
That Tucker take is an absolute L. I understand that kickers aren't always playing, all the do is really kick, but you have to think about how many games are decided by a field goal, or the extra points from kicker. PLUS, he also has a NFL record for the longest kick EVER. He is one of the most consistent kickers of all time, and remains as one of the only kickers that you could see line up from 55+ and expect to make it. In short, Tucker ABSOLUTELY deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
The induction of Terrell Davis into the Pro Football Hall of Fame brought up a lot of issues. I feel like the PFHOF should be more transparent with what exactly their criteria for induction is. I feel like special teamers, fullbacks, and long snappers should all get way more consideration when it comes to HOF induction.
Honestly although in a way I get the special teams players for not making it in, you can’t deny that Justin tucker literally won games for the ravens, so many wins for them
Justin Tucker should get in. My thing with kickers is all of the top all-time NFL scorers are kickers so they’re obviously very valuable for their team. If Justin Tucker is the best at a valuable position, and especially if he ends his career as one of the top few all-time scorers, then I think he has to get in
Barry, Wake had 39 sacks in the CFL in the two seasons he was there so that gives him 140, that's borderline HOF, and he was dominant for a few years too
Barry must have went to great lengths to find a picture of Aaron Judge playing a pick up basketball game in an Orlando magic jersey just for this video. Truly heroic dedication to the channel.
I think players in football HOD consideration need to be judged per the position they played. A good kicker can’t be expected to be an every down player yes, but a kicker is still a member of the team, and an extraordinary kicker should be treated as if we see an extraordinary WR or lineman. They are excellent within role and even exceed that expectation. Same with fullbacks or even punters though those guys would have to do a lot to get HOF consideration.
Nah Barry, To say Vinatieri is a HOF and not tucker is Absurd. Tucker has way better stats and has the most 50+ kicks with a 70% accuracy and im pretty sure his 66 yard kick isn't getting broken any time soon
I don’t think he will, there are very few safeties in the hall of fame and harrison smith doesn’t have enough all-pro selections or playoff success, which count a lot to the HOF
It’s weird because the kicker thing is one of your rare bad takes. Many games, even a lot of playoff games have been won by kickers. We can’t sit here and clown them when they miss, but when they put in the practice to be better than the rest of the kickers we aren’t gonna credit them? Punters and special teams I agree with you, but you could literally have a top defense AND offense and still lose because your kicker was bad. If being a great kicker was so easy, every team would have one
I get peoples point when they say the basketball hof standards are very low. But sometimes people forget that it’s the basketball hof not the NBA hof unlike other sports. So a lot of the times players are in the hof due to their impact, or what they did in the Olympics or sometimes college.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Patrick Peterson was overrated. He always got a ton of credit for shadowing elite recievers, but he was always getting cooked and near the top of the league in yards allowed
Roger Maris. 2 time MVP and broke Ruth's HR Record which stood for 60 years. Outside his MVP seasons he didn't do a whole lot, but even still, him not in HoF is insanity
The closer and reliever take is just wrong imo, starters tend to be able to go deeper in games just from a stamina perspective, most closers have the best stuff in the league
My take on the "some positions shouldn't be hall of famers" debate is that what matters is whether or not you're really the best at your role. With the exception of Mariano Rivera, who accumulated enough value as a closer to match a HoF starter, the players who are really the best at closing games are just the best starters. It's the same story for punt returners and many other special teamers, but *not* punters and kickers. (Like with Rivera, a punt returner would still be a valid HoF candidate, but their value would have to be comparable to HoF receivers and no player like that has ever existed)
Comparing fullbacks to kickers is kinda crazy cuz let’s say for example a kicker like vinateri was insanely clutch super longevity rings and is the all time scoring leader in nfl history I don’t think it’s even a debate
Tucker not a HOFer is your worst take. He is the GOAT kicker, got the distance record on a game winning field goal, has most points for the Ravens. No matter if the Ravens are good or shit, he's always consistent and clutch.
Ryan Clady. Boise State Alumni (based). Super Bowl Champ and 2x All-Pro (as well as a 4x Pro Bowler). Didn’t play the longest but was a top three tackle when he did.
Wake was pretty much the goat CFL pass rusher despite only playing 2 years in Canada. If you’re gonna put Moon in the HoF thanks to his dominant early years up north, I think Wake also deserves in for his combined professional career
As a ravens I’m curious on what you think off Terrell Suggs as a HOF, he’s got a DPOY, multiple 10+ sack seasons, all time leader in TFLs, DROY, and a SB champion. I personally think he’s very underrated as far as defensive ends go so I’m curious on your thoughts.
@@Kevin-lv8wv I forgot about the chiefs one, that was the only reason I wanted KC to win that first one against the 49ers, otherwise I didn’t really care that year.
I was about to argue with you Barry because I almost died to marijuana a year ago, but now I’m saved and know that guys like Robert Mathis deserve to be a HOFer. Also where is Adrian Peterson in the HOF category? Lifetime Vikings fan here.
Harold Jackson and Billy Howton. One had the most receiving yards of the 70’s and ranked second all time at retirement, the other had the most of the 50’s and ranked first all time at retirement.
People forget that Steve Kerr, too, has five rings (I believe) as a player. He is also an all time shooter. He has somewhere between 3rd and fifth most rings between being a coach and player.

Popularity and thus impact on society.
So....record sales.
Is the Grateful Dead in there? Not a fan, but their influence is undeniable. Or The Residents? Both have had significant impact on society.
Freddie Freeman. He was a bit of a compiler, but for the last several years he’s led the league in multiple offensive categories. He has a ring, as well as an MVP (albeit in a shortened season). I think 2 more all-star caliber seasons puts him in.
The PBS logo when Klay came up had me dying😂
The things Tucker and other kickers have done for the game its crazy not to say they’re hall of famers. Not every kicker deserves that moniker but some most definitely do. Kickers have the game in there hands all the time and most 4th quarter comebacks end in the QB trying to get the KICKER in field goal range. If you take your QB out to give the KICKER a chance to seal the game that’s a pretty solid indication that they’re worth a lot more than he’s implying. Kickers are Hall of Famers, especially Tucker. Period.
As a cardinals fan I too remember peterson giving big thought downs in critical games
No kickers can go in the hall of fame? Thats wild to me

Mann screw that, John is a legend
For your next Hall of Fame or Not video, can you please give your take on Tim Lincecum?
I would say no, but if he played like he did from 2008-2011 for longer, then he could have made an argument for himself.
7:22 and 22:14 bro must have had taco bell lmaoooo
10:38 Terrell Davis also won MVP in 1998 with 2K yards rushing on a 14-2 Broncos team
Edit: He's also Super Bowl 32 MVP with 3 Rushing TDs
Pretty sure he also has the highest career postseason avg yards per game
when you put up Omar Epps (Dr. Foreman) I died laughing
Honestly although in a way I get the special teams players for not making it in, you can’t deny that Justin tucker literally won games for the ravens, so many wins for them
KEN ANDERSON CAME DROM D3. CASS CLOSED
Keenan Allen. I feel like he’s a guy that is never brought up in Hall of Fame discussions.
I'm so happy that Barry and I agree on what the standard should be for the Basketball HOF should be
Every time Tucker attempts a FG announcers try to convince us he's HOF. He's not. Gostkowski was just as good for god's sake
Justin Tucker should get in. My thing with kickers is all of the top all-time NFL scorers are kickers so they’re obviously very valuable for their team. If Justin Tucker is the best at a valuable position, and especially if he ends his career as one of the top few all-time scorers, then I think he has to get in
Exactly, the idea that "special team's players shouldn't be in the hall of fame" is just Asinine, Especially if you're as clutch as Tucker
Awesome video, as per usual. Was it just me or did you rip one around the 7:20ish mark?! That made the video even better for the record
22:13 too 😂
Barry, Wake had 39 sacks in the CFL in the two seasons he was there so that gives him 140, that's borderline HOF, and he was dominant for a few years too
Finally made it in a video 😩
Big Time Timmy Jim, had an incredibly short Career but was the best pitcher in Baseball for 2 years straight and won 3 rings.
Barry must have went to great lengths to find a picture of Aaron Judge playing a pick up basketball game in an Orlando magic jersey just for this video. Truly heroic dedication to the channel.
Adrian Wilson did play in a Super Bowl they lost to the Steelers
I think players in football HOD consideration need to be judged per the position they played. A good kicker can’t be expected to be an every down player yes, but a kicker is still a member of the team, and an extraordinary kicker should be treated as if we see an extraordinary WR or lineman. They are excellent within role and even exceed that expectation. Same with fullbacks or even punters though those guys would have to do a lot to get HOF consideration.
cfb coverage from you will be the best! Please!!!!
Nah Barry, To say Vinatieri is a HOF and not tucker is Absurd. Tucker has way better stats and has the most 50+ kicks with a 70% accuracy and im pretty sure his 66 yard kick isn't getting broken any time soon
Do you think Harrison Smith will make the hall of fame? He’s a 6x pro bowler and is honestly Probaly the best safety from 2015-2019.
I say he might get in someday
I don’t think he will, there are very few safeties in the hall of fame and harrison smith doesn’t have enough all-pro selections or playoff success, which count a lot to the HOF
Shouldn’t get in before Darren Woodson but he should be in eventually
Tucker is fs a HOF
I’d like to hear a Brandon Marshall discussion
Roger Maris. 2 time MVP and broke Ruth's HR Record which stood for 60 years. Outside his MVP seasons he didn't do a whole lot, but even still, him not in HoF is insanity
The closer and reliever take is just wrong imo, starters tend to be able to go deeper in games just from a stamina perspective, most closers have the best stuff in the league
def disagree about the kicker statement. having an elite kicker is so so valuable to a team. especially someone as clutch as him
My take on the "some positions shouldn't be hall of famers" debate is that what matters is whether or not you're really the best at your role.
I’m sad Barry didn’t determine whether or not Ray Rice was worthy of the Hall of Fame.
Adam Jones, centerfielder with the Baltimore Orioles
Comparing fullbacks to kickers is kinda crazy cuz let’s say for example a kicker like vinateri was insanely clutch super longevity rings and is the all time scoring leader in nfl history I don’t think it’s even a debate
There’s actually an argument for Steve Kerr to not be in the hall of fame as a coach? Was it because they won a game with the players coaching?
dude is a yankees eagles fan😭😭😭
Tucker not a HOFer is your worst take. He is the GOAT kicker, got the distance record on a game winning field goal, has most points for the Ravens. No matter if the Ravens are good or shit, he's always consistent and clutch.
7:20 Barry what the hell was that noise😂😂😂😂
I LOVE YOU FOR THE BARRY BONDS GRAPHIC
Ryan Clady. Boise State Alumni (based). Super Bowl Champ and 2x All-Pro (as well as a 4x Pro Bowler). Didn’t play the longest but was a top three tackle when he did.
Tyreek Hill, I think he is one of the best recievers ever and deserves to be a 1st ballot hall of famer
Two time SB champ technically, he is a lock for hof
@@Kevin-lv8wv I forgot about the chiefs one, that was the only reason I wanted KC to win that first one against the 49ers, otherwise I didn’t really care that year.
It’s true that Mike Tomlin loses games he should win……but he also wins games the Steelers should lose so it evens out imo
I love these videos for some reason.
Andre Johnson one of the most dominant WRs at the time up there with megatron
I was about to argue with you Barry because I almost died to marijuana a year ago, but now I’m saved and know that guys like Robert Mathis deserve to be a HOFer. Also where is Adrian Peterson in the HOF category? Lifetime Vikings fan here.
Klay Thompson as the PBS logo, lmao!
Harold Jackson and Billy Howton. One had the most receiving yards of the 70’s and ranked second all time at retirement, the other had the most of the 50’s and ranked first all time at retirement.
In the next one you should do Bobby Boucher
People forget that Steve Kerr, too, has five rings (I believe) as a player. He is also an all time shooter. He has somewhere between 3rd and fifth most rings between being a coach and player.
Kickers should be allowed in the hall of fame and tucker 100% deserves it along with vinatieri
Tomlin definitely looks like the black guy from house. I’m dead that’s perfect
I get your point about special teamers and agree that Tucker isn’t as good of an athlete as mostet every down players, but he has brought more value to his team than many hall of famers
A list like this leaves you open to tons of criticism…I have NONE! I agree with almost every single one of these. I’m a little older than you and saw more of these players and you got them all right!
Love you Barry..and that's hard for me as a 49er faan when you are a ShEagles fan. But Kickers aren't just special teamers. A good kicker is more valuable than a good RB in today's NFL. Vinatieri is ABSOLUTELY a HOF..even as a kicker
Stefon Diggs, still got some years left but he was playing the second fiddle to thielen in minnesota just to become dominant on the Bills
paused the video at about 18:05 and came back like an hour later and because of where i paused it, it made it seem like his main reason for justin houston not being a hall of famer was that he looked old asf and i lost my shit laughing lmao
Arguably the greatest at his position can never make the hall just because he plays said position is a horrible argument
Barry, please PLEASE never stop making videos I beg you, literally my fav UA-camr and shoutout to Jimmy G aka handsome Kirk cousins also is mark andrews a HOFer in your opinion ?
