Java finch sings after eating maggots (yummy food for finch babies)

My male java finch is so polite, he thanks me for the maggots with a song. =) It was difficult finding maggots here in Spain but I finally found them in Decathlon. I have gotten a couple of questions about the birds eating live maggots. Birds chew the maggots... so the maggots can't do any harm.

I'm from java , indonesia and sadly never see this bird in the wild. It's easy to find them when my dad was a kid and none of them in the wild now 😢

Do they sell live maggots? I've only seen dried mealworms in petshops.

The used to sell them in petshops in Sweden... but not anymore. Here in Spain I buy live maggots from Decathlon. In Sweden from stores that sell stuff for fishermen.

The male likes to trim his own nails. =) I guess when he has kids they are more important. I usually help out when the nails are too long. In this case I didn't want to catch him and maybe scare the female as well so the kids were left alone.

Yes, I think so. I give my birds many different food but they probably don't need it. I just like to give them a lot of options so they can choose what they want to eat.

Yes, it will definitely. However it is best to choose various options. Have you tried grinded 🌽 a little bit wet in water?

No, they aren't hand fed. Not very tame either compared to my very first Java finch couple. They used to wake me up while I was in bed by pulling my hair... that hurt. :D
