    Yet another informative and entertaining video. Next best thing to being on the river. A Friday Filler on adding weight as suggested in an earlier comment would be great.You appeared to add weight between the dropper and point flies. Is this correct - I usually add the weight above the dropper.

    • @TrippinOnTrout
      @TrippinOnTrout  5 років тому

      Thanks bro🤙
      I’ll def do a Filler soon on adding weight.
      I usually add weight above the dropper too but as it was a Glo bug (and they are quite floaty) and the water a bit coloured, I opted for between the flies to make sure that it was bumping hard on the bottom

    Hi ALex always enjoy watching your fishing adventures.May I suggest you get yourself , ifyou haven't already, a set of surgeons pliers for crushing the split shot.It looked like you were using your teeth to crush it on to the leader.LEAD IS DEADLY TO HUMANS a tiny fraction multiplied many times in your body will kill you.It is what killed some of the Antarctic explorers in the early 1900's , their tinned food was sealed with lead!!!! When I go fishing on my own even though the places are quite benign I always let a mate know where I am going and that if he doesn't hear from me by a predetermined time to send a search party......haven't needed one so far HOORAY!!

    • @TrippinOnTrout
      @TrippinOnTrout  5 років тому

      Cheers John,
      I have pliers but am just lazy. I know better though. 🤦‍♂️
      I always leave an itinerary at home as well and never go without a beacon. Better to be safe 🤙

    • @johnfrehner4302
      @johnfrehner4302 5 років тому

      Great that you are safety conscious.Please oh please don't put lead in your body!!!!!While I'm at it I just wonder if you'd followed that initial trout down if you may have caught it I wondered about the amount of pressure it placed on your set up but then again S..t happens good luck Alex. @@TrippinOnTrout

    • @TrippinOnTrout
      @TrippinOnTrout  5 років тому

      John Frehner I was about to follow that fish when the hook pulled so you are thinking along the right lines. I think it was just a light hook up as there wasn’t THAT much pressure on it.
      But yeah, shit happens!!

    You used alot more weight then ususal I noticed. If your fishing deeper green pools and not catching is it safe to assume that your probably not deep enough? Would love a little more info on the topic in one of your vids or a Friday filler. When is the standard bomb nymph and point fly not enough? Cheers for the sick vid as usual my dude 🤙

    • @TrippinOnTrout
      @TrippinOnTrout  5 років тому +2

      Great idea bro. I’ll do a filler on that in the next couple of weeks.
      Not enough weight to get down is potentially why you aren’t finding fish in that deeper water for sure. If you are fishing that water and not getting hit then it is always worth adding some weight to make sure you are getting down.
      If you see your indicator ‘ticking’ along as you drift then you know your flies are bumping along the bottom. I’ll go into more detail in the vid🤙

    Ive found that you should always swing any water that looks too good after you nymph it. Probably some meat eaters in there. Do you ever try two handed rods?
    Love to videos man. Come out to the PNW on a trip video.

    • @TrippinOnTrout
      @TrippinOnTrout  5 років тому +1

      You are probably right bro but I generally can’t be arsed to re rig to a streamer and swing and then rig up again for the next piece of water. Carrying two rods is a pain in the butt too.
      I could swap over and do it on the way out but I usually have a long walk out anyway and just get going.
      I always think about it and just never do it! I would no doubt pick up the odd extra fish that way if I bothered.
      I have messed around with two handers a little bit but not enough
