Honest Review: Yamaha Revstar RS502TFMX

A customer brought this wonderful yamaha revstar guitar in for a setup and got a chance to check it out. This is a video about all the things I think they did right or wrong when building this guitar. An honest guitar review!

There seem to be a lot of these with high nuts but once these are either lowered, or cut properly, they make a fantastic P90 equipped guitar. Mine played so much better after that but was done, and all the adjustable bits are really easy to get at

I had exactly some issue. A little bit of “Nut Filing” will make this guitar plays great. Yamaha folks should really look for this point. Otherwise this Yamaha Revstar series are awesome guitars with unbelievably reasonable priced guitars available on the market today.

Nice little video! I'm after a P90 guitar to add to my arsenal and had my eyes on an Epiphone Les Paul Special which is so close to its Gibon counterpart at £1000 less. But I keep coming back to the Yamaha Revstar. Love the body shape and custom P90s.

Absolutely! p90 in the neck is my favorite mod to any guitar I own!

They are great guitars for the price. You missed the push pull knob that gives it a single coil tone.

Lol they’re P90’s, they’re already single coils. High pass filter is correct.

Love this guitar but still not sure how easy strings changes will be with that tailpiece? I am guessing that hey just slot under the tail? Cant see that you would have to remove the tail piece to change a string?

Great question! Pretty easy actually. Standard style on most hollowbody guitars that don't have a bigsby. Correct that they slip under the front edge of the tailpiece.
