This is the reason why the Season 2 theme is on the CD When it comes to the Space:1999 theme, you have the Season 2 theme transition into We Are All Aliens (Maya's Theme) and then back to the Season 2 Theme at the end. Music on the CD was arranged by Daniel Caine which was the pseudonym used by one Derek Wadsworth!
Excelente y maravilloso este trabajo musical de la Total Philarmonic Orchestra con las canciones creadas por Barry Gray para las distintas serie realizadas por SUPERMARIONATION y 20 Century Production...... simplemente FAB....
I like how they made a rearrangement (which is what it needs to be played by an orchestra) but couldn’t smoothen the transitions well. So you get the most awesome orchestral sounds in the world and then café music. It doesn’t work well. It sounds semi-jazz and the original is nothing like a jazz piece. There’s nothing wrong with jazz but you shouldn’t blend two styles together.
You really should've stopped at "rearrangement," because for the rest of your comment, you completely disregard that. They probably included a jazzy section for a little more variety. The transitions are smooth, it does work well, and it doesn't matter that you say that "you shouldn't blend two styles together," because composers like Bernard Herrmann, Elmer Bernstein, Leonard Bernstein, Henry Mancini, John Barry, John Williams, Lalo Schifrin, and Michael Giacchino have proven time and time again that it can indeed be done. "Awesome orchestral sounds" and "café music" are not mutually exclusive, and just because you've café music like this doesn't mean that all music that sounds like this is automatically café music. Besides, for a theme that "is nothing like a jazz piece," it sure has the rhythmic drive of one, and the brass section gets pretty jazzy towards the end.
Just out of interest who did compose the second Space 1999 theme tune? , does anyone know? , don't get me wrong I don't dislike the second Space 1999 theme, I just prefer the first one most of all
