My word, demolition is a mighty fine album if one can just for one second accept that Mr. Halford needed a few weeks vacation. The riffs are crushing and Scott is not sleeping on his duty either. The headbanging starts without thinking about it, a sure sign that this is Metal at its finest! Too bad that they never play any songs from this album live, but they sure have enough material to draw upon! \o/
This is my most favorite song off of Demolition. May not be among my favorite Priest albums, but still has a handful of songs I like, this among them. This is very kickass; Tim is just a beast and it felt very Motorhead-ish.
It is enjoyable, I resisted at first but it's good shit. Saw them live on demolition, enjoyed their originals Jugulator - Demolition more so than the classics.
I think that this particular album is goddamn cool. The songs have goddamn good melodies. its not that fast heavy metal like Painkiller. Its hard slow tempo metal, good as it is. In Between, Close to You, Hell is Home, Metal Messiah... Damn good songs.
@@terukichan4694 It's true that his solo is very well composed for the purpose of the song. It is also very unusual sounding for him. The influence of the nu metal era at that time can be heard even in Priest.
When i wrote that, i must confess that i havent heard this album in last 10 years, so i decided to give another try, and this album sounded amazing! So, guys, forget about what i said first, it's a very good album, with great tracks. But i keep my opinion about Jugulator.
Priest never made a truly terrible album... but by Priest standards Juggulator and Demolition were not anything spectacular. It was a style change, the sound was quite different. The songs aren't bad... but they are certainly missing Rob's vocals and lyrical power 9/10 times (but after being with them for most of their career, its no wonder why). It really ends up sounding more like a Glenn and KK solo album than a Judas Priest album. Not to mention, Rippers talents were very squandered by the fact that they barely let him contribute during the writing process. This song is very good though. I'd love to hear them play this with Rob.
Priest made Nostradamus. That is a truly terrible album. This album isn't anything bad, but I agree, comparing it to the Standards of Priest's best albums (In my Opinion, Point of Entry, Defenders Of The Faith, British Steel, and Painkiller), their albums with Owens are their second worst. Good metal albums, even if I'm not the biggest fan of Tim Owens myself, just not as good as almost anything else Priest has, or can do.
Rippers voice is by far THE BEST THING ON THESE TWO ALBUMS!!!! It wasnt Rippers fault that Jugulator and Demolition didnt work out well. It was due to the fact that the songwritters, KK and Glenn were not able to write great songs anymore. Not surprising at all, after 30 years of writing songs.
Different sight.... I think they may still have known how to write Songs, but not in the proper range. To average, to many personal Things to deal with probably... Ist not about the difference in the Sound, ist about losing the band typical Trademarks as the twin lead guitar duels. Alltough personal sights can and shall be different, so is the personal Preference in music...
@DK6Marius: If you get a chance to listen to Redeemer of Souls, it'll really change your tune on Nostradamus. That said, the ROS songs are great live, but man....that sound production. Yeech!
Nostradamus is one of my favorite Priest albums; I even enjoy the filler songs for the most part. Future of Mankind is in my top 5 Priest songs for sure.
Nonsense! This is one of the best of Priest songs. Yes it's different but that's the thing about Priest, they never do the same thing over and over again, they have always reinvented themselves whilst staying true to the power and the heart of what they do: Heavy Metal.
I totally agree with you. JP is my favorite band because it creates new unceasingly , always keeping its incredible melodic sound and its so inventive riffs touch. I love every JP albums from the first to the last one. Jugulator and demolition are powerful and very creative. I just woreship them.
I saw Priest w/Ripper 4 times and was not disappointed once. He kicked ass! Since Rob has been back he has LOOKED great, all leather and chains, but his voice is gone. Completely. And he is so hunched over its painful to watch. I mean for fucks sake, he was using a CANE!!
I disagree re Halford, seen them on the redeemer of souls tour and Rob Halford was amazing. Tim owens is a good singer but, imo priest aren't priest without Halford
Priest is Priest without Rob. You'd think the four albums they released with Ripper would confirm that. The cover says *long pause* Judas Priest! Dipshit.
Rob Zombie's "devilman"? You mean... WHITE Zombie's "Super-Charger Heaven"? The riff hardly even qualifies as similar and I have heard that song many, many more times than this one and I didn't make the connection.
Incredible song. Rest of the album total shit. The tour with Savatage in Spain at least was ok. Halford have always been my favourite singer, but Ripper is a great singer too. For me their best álbum is Sad wings of destiny
In my oppinion, judas priest has made a weak album (jugulator) with an amazing singer (Ripper), and unfortunately released demolition, that is worse than jugulator... what a waste of a incredible singer! Ripper deserved better albuns to sing in his judas priest era... Same thing when he was the singer in Iced Earth, amazing vocals, regular/weak albuns...
***** The title track is good, Blood Red Skies is sort of interesting and features KKD's best solo, Dave Holland finally learns to play double bass, and Glenn's shredding in the intro to "Heavy Metal" rocks, but yeah, it sucks otherwise. It's all the corn of Turbo just without synths.
***** Yeah, and it sounds like a drum machine, but I don't think there's any reason to believe the rest of the album used a machine (although I heard they may have hired another drummer during recording).
Ram It Down is far from terrible, but certainly not their best, Blood Red Skies is a masterpiece. Dave Holland didn't play at all on Ram It Down, Tom Allom said in an interview.
This album is horrible. It sounds like they were trying to emulate bad mid career Metallica, with some really awkward pandering to circa 2001 nu metal trends thrown in as well. Really bad production too.

One of the best Priest songs ever!! So loud and heavy! Riffs and drumming kick ass.Endless headbanging to this!!! 🤘
The chorus has a fire power vibe...elements of the main riff are there
Brilliant track of a damn good album. Love both Rob and Ripper
