It is not about deserving Paradise ,it is about deserving the Mercy of ALLAH SWT. That is why humans have to still be good and do good ,if they hope to enter Paradise.

The hadith doesn't actually read like that haha no man could ever be that audacious to Allah (swt) or say "how dare you?" From what I recollect, Allah said "would you like to enter heaven through your good deeds or through my mercy?" And the man said he wanted to go through his actions. Allah then showed him the weight of his deeds compared to the blessing of eye sight, then the man begged to be entered to jannah with Allah's mercy, and he was admitted. @@Gazaruu the hadith is about a man in the past who worshipped Allah Ta’ala continuously for 500 years. He was granted a shelter on top of a mountain that was surrounded by salty water. However, Allah caused a stream of sweet water to flow through the mountain for that individual. The man would drink from this water and use it to make ablution. Allah Ta’ala also raised a pomegranate tree from which the man would eat one fruit every day. One day, this person supplicated to Allah that, “Oh Allah, bring my death while I am in the state of prostration.” Allah accepted this dua of his. Whenever Jibrail (as) came down to Earth, he found this man prostrating to Allah. Jibrail (as) said that on the day of Judgement, Allah will tell the angels to take this individual to Paradise through His mercy. However, this man will insist that he should enter paradise through the good deeds that he had performed. Then, Allah will tell the angels to compare his good deeds with the blessings that were given to him in the world. It will be seen that 500 years of his worship does not even equal to the gift of eye sight that was given to him by Allah. The angels will be asked to take him towards the hell fire. Then the man will plead, “Oh Allah! Enter me into Paradise only through Your mercy.” At that point, the following discussion will take place between Allah and that man. Allah: Oh my servant, who created you? The worshipper: Oh Allah, You have created me. Allah: Were you created because of the good deeds you have done or because of My mercy? The worshipper: Because of Your mercy. Allah: Who granted you the ability to worship for 500 years? The worshipper: Oh the Almighty! You have granted me that ability. The man did not argue, he was delusional and proud of his deeds. In the end Allah gave him Jannah when he realised the Haqq. My brother dont blind follow.
u clearly havent read the verses before or after. 2:190 Fight in the way of Allāh those who fight against you but do not transgress. Indeed, Allāh does not like transgressors. how does 3:151 advocate violence against non believers?
I find it interesting if people who only pray or do good things for the sake of getting Allah's acceptance. Allah can see right through you. U should do good from your heart not just to get into jannah
Whilst the hadith is true, the brother embellishes it a bit too much i.e. no one would be in a position to talk in such a manner to Allah on the day of judgement. Being a former gangster should not be a qualification for giving talks at the masjid.
If he worshipped Allah, he didn't worship God. God is Love, and there's not one example of a loving Allah in the Quran. According to the Quran, Allah is your Master and you are his slave. According to the Bible, God is our Father and we are His children. That is a major difference.
You believe God had to kill his son to forgive mankind but Islam says you just have to repent sincerely to be forgiven. Not even remotely the same. If I chose to forgive someone that wronged me without sacrificing them then I would be more merciful than your god. Islam's version is much more merciful and loving than your view. Just repent sincerely and you are forgiven. Infinitely much more loving than having to kill an innocent man to take on your sins.

Indeed, He is ever Accepting of Repentance.[[Refer to footnote of {2:37}]] An-Naṣr, Ayah 3 أَلَمۡ یَعۡلَمُوۤا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ یَقۡبَلُ ٱلتَّوۡبَةَ عَنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَیَأۡخُذُ ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ﴿ ١٠٤ ﴾ Do they not know that it is Allāh who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that it is Allāh who is the Accepting of Repentance,[[Refer to footnote in {2:37}.]] the Merciful? At-Tawbah, Ayah 104 Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah has divided mercy into one hundred parts; and He retained with Him ninety-nine parts, and sent down to earth one part. Through this one part creatures deal with one another with compassion, so much so that an animal lifts its hoof over its young lest it should hurt it". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

How has the man entered jannah? The day of resurrection has not occurred. The day of judgement has not happened. So the man is still in the grave. His soul is in the bazakh.

No, the mercy of Allah is earned by effort. We are not expected to be perfect so trying your best is enough In Sha'Allah as Allah said in the Quran Chapter 64 verse 16 "So fear Allah as much as you are able" So we should try our best to fulfill the commandments of Allah to earn his mercy.

٧٦٣٧ - أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الْعَنَزِيُّ، ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْمُقْرِئُ، ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ هَرِمٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ، ثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ هَرِمٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: " خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِي خَلِيلِي جِبْرِيلُ آنِفًا فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عَبْدًا مِنْ عَبِيدِهِ عَبَدَ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى خَمْسَ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ عَلَى رَأْسِ جَبَلٍ فِي الْبَحْرِ عَرْضُهُ وَطُولُهُ ثَلَاثُونَ ذِرَاعًا فِي ثَلَاثِينَ ذِرَاعًا وَالْبَحْرُ مُحِيطٌ بِهِ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ فَرْسَخٍ مِنْ كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ وَأَخْرَجَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى لَهُ عَيْنًا عَذْبَةً بِعَرْضِ الْأُصْبَعِ تَبَضُّ بِمَاءٍ عَذْبٍ فَتَسْتَنْقِعُ فِي أَسْفَلِ الْجَبَلِ وَشَجَرَةَ رُمَّانٍ تُخْرِجُ لَهُ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ رُمَّانَةً فَتُغَذِّيهِ يَوْمَهُ، فَإِذَا أَمْسَى نَزَلَ فَأَصَابَ مِنَ الْوضُوءِ وَأَخَذَ تِلْكَ الرُّمَّانَةَ فَأَكَلَهَا ثُمَّ قَامَ لِصَلَاتِهِ، فَسَأَلَ رَبَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عِنْدَ وَقْتِ الْأَجَلِ أَنْ يَقْبِضَهُ سَاجِدًا وَأَنْ لَا يَجْعَلَ لِلْأَرْضِ وَلَا لِشَيْءٍ يُفْسِدُهُ عَلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا حَتَّى بَعَثَهُ وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ قَالَ: فَفَعَلَ فَنَحْنُ نَمُرُّ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا هَبَطْنَا وَإِذَا عَرَجْنَا فَنَجِدُ لَهُ فِي الْعِلْمِ أَنَّهُ يُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُوقَفُ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ الرَّبُّ: أَدْخِلُوا عَبْدِي الْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِي، فَيَقُولُ: رَبِّ بَلْ بِعَمَلِي، فَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ: أَدْخِلُوا عَبْدِي الْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِي، فَيَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ، بَلْ بِعَمَلِي، فَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ: أَدْخِلُوا عَبْدِي الْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِي، فَيَقُولُ: رَبِّ بَلْ بِعَمَلِي، فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ: قَايِسُوا عَبْدِي بِنِعْمَتِي عَلَيْهِ وَبِعَمَلِهِ فَتُوجَدُ نِعْمَةُ الْبَصَرِ قَدْ أَحَاطَتْ بِعِبَادَةِ خَمْسِ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ وَبَقِيَتْ نِعْمَةُ الْجَسَدِ فَضْلًا عَلَيْهِ فَيَقُولُ: أَدْخِلُوا عَبْدِي النَّارَ قَالَ: فَيُجَرُّ إِلَى النَّارِ فَيُنَادِي: رَبِّ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَدْخِلْنِي الْجَنَّةَ، فَيَقُولُ: رُدُّوهُ فَيُوقَفُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَيَقُولُ: يَا عَبْدِي، مَنْ خَلَقَكَ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْئًا؟ فَيَقُولُ: أَنْتَ يَا رَبِّ، فَيَقُولُ: كَانَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ قِبَلِكَ أَوْ بِرَحْمَتِي؟ فَيَقُولُ: بَلْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ. فَيَقُولُ: مَنْ قَوَّاكَ لِعِبَادَةِ خَمْسِ مِائَةِ عَامٍ؟ فَيَقُولُ: أَنْتَ يَا رَبِّ، فَيَقُولُ: مَنْ أَنْزَلَكَ فِي جَبَلٍ وَسَطَ اللُّجَّةِ وَأَخْرَجَ لَكَ الْمَاءَ الْعَذْبَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ الْمَالِحِ وَأَخْرَجَ لَكَ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ رُمَّانَةً وَإِنَّمَا تَخْرُجُ مَرَّةً فِي السَّنَةِ، وَسَأَلْتَنِي أَنْ أَقْبِضَكَ سَاجِدًا فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ بِكَ؟ فَيَقُولُ: أَنْتَ يَا رَبِّ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: فَذَلِكَ بِرَحْمَتِي وَبِرَحْمَتِي أُدْخِلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ، أَدْخِلُوا عَبْدِي الْجَنَّةَ فَنِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ كُنْتَ يَا عَبْدِي فَيُدْخِلُهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ، قَالَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ: إِنَّمَا الْأَشْيَاءُ بِرَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى يَا مُحَمَّدُ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ، فَإِنَّ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ هَرِمٍ الْعَابِدَ مِنْ زُهَّادِ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ، وَاللَّيْثَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ لَا يَرْوِي عَنِ الْمَجْهُولِينَ»

The hadith doesn't actually read like that haha no man could ever be that audacious to Allah (swt) or say "how dare you?" From what I recollect, Allah said "would you like to enter heaven through your good deeds or through my mercy?" And the man said he wanted to go through his actions. Allah then showed him the weight of his deeds compared to the blessing of eye sight, then the man begged to be entered to jannah with Allah's mercy, and he was admitted.

@@Gazaruu the hadith is about a man in the past who worshipped Allah Ta’ala continuously for 500 years. He was granted a shelter on top of a mountain that was surrounded by salty water. However, Allah caused a stream of sweet water to flow through the mountain for that individual. The man would drink from this water and use it to make ablution. Allah Ta’ala also raised a pomegranate tree from which the man would eat one fruit every day.
One day, this person supplicated to Allah that, “Oh Allah, bring my death while I am in the state of prostration.” Allah accepted this dua of his. Whenever Jibrail (as) came down to Earth, he found this man prostrating to Allah. Jibrail (as) said that on the day of Judgement, Allah will tell the angels to take this individual to Paradise through His mercy.
However, this man will insist that he should enter paradise through the good deeds that he had performed. Then, Allah will tell the angels to compare his good deeds with the blessings that were given to him in the world. It will be seen that 500 years of his worship does not even equal to the gift of eye sight that was given to him by Allah.
The angels will be asked to take him towards the hell fire. Then the man will plead, “Oh Allah! Enter me into Paradise only through Your mercy.” At that point, the following discussion will take place between Allah and that man. Allah: Oh my servant, who created you? The worshipper: Oh Allah, You have created me. Allah: Were you created because of the good deeds you have done or because of My mercy? The worshipper: Because of Your mercy. Allah: Who granted you the ability to worship for 500 years? The worshipper: Oh the Almighty! You have granted me that ability.
The man did not argue, he was delusional and proud of his deeds. In the end Allah gave him Jannah when he realised the Haqq.

Islam's version is much more merciful and loving than your view. Just repent sincerely and you are forgiven. Infinitely much more loving than having to kill an innocent man to take on your sins.

No, the mercy of Allah is earned by effort. We are not expected to be perfect so trying your best is enough In Sha'Allah as Allah said in the Quran Chapter 64 verse 16 "So fear Allah as much as you are able" So we should try our best to fulfill the commandments of Allah to earn his mercy.
