singers in Korea are really good, just like in any country. if you mean members of idol groups that are not top caliber singers, yeah there are some coz in groups they dont normally put in all vocals but include dancers and rappers as well.
Correct, of course I was speaking of mainly idols. I know their are legit vocalist in every country and I definitely was not discrediting anyone. I was just making an observation that most idol singers are not this good. Hallyu doesn't push out these types of artists for world consumption. I wish they did, I love kpop but I've got lots of room to take in more great music :)
Actually that is not true at all. Maybe for international people but in Korea most people hardly even know idols. They all love music and most non-idols are much bigger and popular there than idols. I think international people really don't know how it actually is there if it's about the entertainment industry. Korea has hundreds of well known singer with the best talent. This guy is really great, I watch his performance a lot of times but i know more Korean singers who sing like this. There are hundreds of talented good singers in S. Korea, watch shows like King of Mask singers and people who think Korean show business is only about the idols. For international fans, korean hallyu wave and korean show business might be all about the idols. Like idols is just 10% of the singers there if it's not less and there are a tons of good idol singers as well. And people are well aware of that, that's why some idols shine out more than others to Koreans. Take Sandeul, Kyungsoo, 2AM and all these members as example. There are actually a lot of talented singers in Korean show business. And i do agree that these talents in this show are at a high level as well, they deserve to become great singers but that's why they were chosen in the first place for the show. They are as great as a lot of singers in Korea.
Am I the only one who thinks that his voice would be PERFECT for anime songs? Like a lot of songs you can hear in background when watching an anime movie. He is so good, definitely one of my favourite on any ICSYV!
Jung Si-Hyuk is really talented singer. his splendid and refreshing high notes that no one could've imagined. what an voice man..its so smooth and powerful.

I think on this fellow, it was 6 to 1, everyone said he was lipsyncing except for Sohye, who thought he was the real deal. She's so cute in this clip, fangirling :) Edit: I have a feeling Professor Kim Sohye recognized that he was a specialized type of singing penguin, but she wasn't able to persuade the rest of them that he could sing.

Each eliminated contestant performs live, so you find out whether they can sing or not. The winner performs with the guest singing one of the guest's songs, and they either get to release a single of that performance if they're real, or they get 5 million won if they're lying (and you get to see the guest sing with someone who totally butchers their song). In this case, IOI cut this guy in the 2nd round after his lip sync performance, so this is his live elimination performance; I think they didn't believe he was a rocker who could belt out such high notes. They were of course wrong, other than Sohye, apparently, which is why they're surprised.
Even funnier is how most of them, unlike this one, don't even seem to be rockers in real life based on their pictures - including in those of them performing.
Korean people are very image-conscious; they can be quiet judgmental towards people who look different and those are automatically shoved off as probably worthless. Most of these singers sing better than most of Kpop's idols out there. Sorry 'bout it!

41년 평생 노래를 듣고 눈물이 나는건 처음입니다. 정시혁가수님 노래 첫소절 시작하는데 마치 천상의 나팔이 온 공간을 메우는 느낌을 받았어요... 저 곳에 있었던 분들은 듣는귀가 사람마다 모두 다를수있겠지만...노래 정말 기가 막히게 부른다는 표현이 들었을꺼 같네요.
