Anti-Septiceye and Darkiplier set my fate. It may seem cringy at times but if it wasn’t for those videos I wouldn’t be an actor or currently in my final year of a film degree. That era of videos changed my life forever and I have never been happier. I still visit all these videos to this day as a reminder of where it all started.
I know! I love it when some of the biggest inspirations for our futures are just seemingly little things. I have an absolute, diabolically sweltering hatred for feet, so boom, none of my characters have any, problem solved.
Nah Anti and Darkiplier was literally one of the coolest horror dynamics on YT back in the day. Really creative twist they put on two beloved youtubers, and these characters represented "what would happen if these two content creators everyone loves were suddenly replaced by an evil/twisted psychopath alter ego?" The contrast between them is so badass and well thought out and I wish there was a movie about them lol

As a video editor, that NON-STATIC shot with Anti in the background is sick. And I agree, the fact that it’s not perfect (bc that’s basically impossible) adds to the effect

A small detail I love from the Halloween Anti vid is the soft, distracted "tha' fuck was that?" (time stamp 12:01). It's not precisely or overly enunciated, the line is not too loud or hit too hard, which lends it the naturalism Seán wanted to achieve - it doesn't sound like a line at all, it just sounds like genuine slight confusion.

@@wilfrido1lora Yeah, I assume it's something to that extent, but holding your younger self in contempt - and cringing at people doing stuff in general if it just goes into the 'embarrassing' category - to me feels like a lot of emotional energy that could be spent better. My approach is to always learn from your mistakes, and always appreciate the growth you've achieved, but if you don't let yourself or others truly explore life, you can't expect them to find their right place in it.

It’s actually quite wholesome to see Sean look back at most of his old stuff with pride (cringing at a few of them) but it’s nice that he appreciates his growth as much as we do
Jack talking about how it would've been so cool to be a fan in a community and have a creator do something like the anti stuff was so surreal. Like, yeah that was me!! I was a teenager deep in the fandom at that time and I remember being blown away by all the ego stuff! What a fun blast from the past

As someone who was obsessed with the alter egos and especially anti, i find it so fucking nostalgic just rewatching these especially with jack himself. I was just starting highschool around that time, now i’m out of highschool. It’s almost surreal watching them again. My god
THIS Jack, is what made high school bearable for me! I remember skipping class in the bathroom for that Halloween video lol! Making theories of your characters and Marks kept my creativity alive!

Also... Since when can people only be named names that originate in their country of birth? I've known a TON of people named Shawn, Sean, and Shaun. Almost none were born in Ireland or have Irish heritage.

i will never, ever, forget how it felt to witness the anti stuff happening in real time. the anticipation, looking for signs and hidden anti hints everywhere, anticipating the glitches, discussing the meaning of it all over on tumblr and twitter...man. that october was the most memorable. i was sixteen, and now i'm 23 typing this... fuck
I love how this whole universe was basically Sean doing what kids do and making up stories and characters and he actually got to do all this cool stuff like the IRIS stuff and the comic book. Like that is the coolest thing to me.

I remember antisepticeye, this was my whole life during Halloween of 2016. It blew my mind and I loved him. So glad to see these references again.
It was during a time where I was in middle school and did nothing but play UA-camr simulator, listened to cool patrol, and watched your videos. I miss those times!
Oh gosh, feeling so nostalgic about all of this!!! I was 14 at the peak of all the Anti stuff. I have such fond memories of piecing together all the stuff from the videos, theorizing with friends online. Really one of my favorite memories

I'm so bummed that the JJ stuff wasn't as widely liked as some of the other ego content. JJ is my favorite ego by far, and I love the stylistic nature of the videos Sean makes with him. Really lets him stretch his creative muscles, IMHO, and the hard work he puts into those videos really shows. I really hope he makes more JJ content in the future.

Honestly, some of my fondest memories were watching anti, sister location, party hard and resident evil biohazard. I would come home from school and the first thing I would do is watch the newest episode of those. Good times.

Well, to be honest, then and now are two different styles of content.
JJ was always my favourite after Anti. I was sad to see he wasn't a part of this video until I got to the end. I'm glad Jack hasn't forgotten about him and hope to see more

I loved the community imposed dynamics between the egos, JJ was always the 'youngest brother' type dynamic and Schneep a 'wine aunt' type thing. Thats my childhood there man. Cant WAIT to dive into this new canon stuff
Jameson Jackson was great. I really liked his old-timey vibes (also the puppet vibes when paired with Anti) and I hope we see more of him someday. :)

@@Haythamtantoush The German doctor/mad scientist stereotype is very common in media, originating from very iconic characters like Dr. Frankenstein, Doktor Faust, etc. While not nearly as infamous as other racial stereotypes, the German mad scientist archetype is considered offensive by some the same way some people hate that Italian characters are solely associated with pasta or the mafia.

I didn’t even realize that JJ was signing the word for “help”, I’ve been learning ASL for the past year and finally noticed it in this video. That’s amazing!
Also I’m glad to see silly characters get such big character developments. I’m sure at the time you just thought of these characters as stupid video ideas that didn’t go anywhere but that’s not the case! We are so proud of you Jack and so excited to see where these characters go!

Edit: Looked it up and you’re correct. BSL is the when you place your domain hand on your flat non dominant hand. ASL would move them both forward.

Jack should actually make the Chase Brody story into a full on movie with his backstory and extensive lore in my opinion.
It's kinda been a tick for me ever since the "Say Goodbye" video. Whenever Sean plays horror games now and he's immersed in acting a bit, I HAVE to check the description if any of Anti's little zalgo text is there. Anti has inspired a lot of people more than the other egos by far. :D
Not true marks ego also inspired a lot of people to, if you look at marks old videos he had characters to and did similar things jack did but it's just different, they both did similar things but very different
@@LyraPyxisVT To put in D&D terms, I see Darkiplier as Lawful Evil, and Antisepticeye as Chaotic Evil. Anti is chaotic and crazy, but at least you know what to expect with him constantly losing his shit. Dark stays so calm and collected, it's unsettling, then when he temporarily snaps because he isn't getting his way, it catches you by surprise.
Jack's work on cinematics is so beautiful. He and his team are so damn good at it.

it feels like jack is experiencing the same type of nostalgia we are and his projects for his egos and stuff coming to fruition is just heartwarming
as a film student and fellow film enjoyer i absolutely love the attention to detail jack puts into his work. it feels so much more complex and thought-out when you watch videos with his egos and can actually analyze things and notice new things with every rewatch. it feels rewarding as a viewer to catch onto them, not like you're reaching or looking too far into it. can't wait to see these characters and their stories developed further!

I love the egos I grew up coming up with theories about them all, to the point when I came out of the closet I chose the name Jameson to link in with the joys I had growing up watching jack and the stories he made along the way
I did a similar thing when I realized I was genderfluid and started coming out to people. I picked the name Emile in reference to Dr. Picani from Cartoon Therapy. I have an interest in psychology and wanted to tie in to my love of Thomas Sanders in mental health.
So cool to see others did the same.

It was so cool to witness all these characters come to life as they were happening, I always get such nostalgia anytime more ego content comes out.
As a German: Don't worry about it. If we got upset about every non-German person faking a German accent we'd all be permanently angry. Honestly, I find most of them hilarious and am impressed if they happen to pronounce a randomly thrown in German word correctly, extra-impressed if they get the grammar right (which is rare).

Respectfully, I don’t think Seán wants to repeat himself. He even said it, in this video, that he’s moving the Ego Lore in a new direction.
Hence *I.R.I.S.* the *ALTRVERSE,* and so many other cool revelations he hasn’t shown us yet!
If Seán had Trey pepper in the same types of glitchy appearances, I think most people would end up unfairly comparing him to Robin, or Alice (She goes by both names).
The whole reason Seán stopped making Ego Content is because he didn’t have enough confidence in himself, viewers were putting way too much pressure on him and he wanted to eventually go further than just retreading the same-old-same-old.
Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not shitting on older Ego Content. But what Seán is setting out to do now is move the story forward, not backwards.
I love his non-verbal approach. The glitches and distorted sound...Sound has always been such a cool element to me. You actually have to think about it and soak it in.
I genuinely hate that I didn't get to experience these as they were happening, but i've had a lovely time watching this and going through the alters and egos within this video :3

Watching through these with you and hearing the thought processes and analysis and lore was a joy. Like sincerely so intriguing. And on top of all of it, clever advertising for your new comic, when this video could've just been solely to reminisce, and we would've enjoyed it just as much. Brilliant all around. You were clearly meant to break into these different creative spaces, and how far you've come is evident in multiple ways.

21:08 is a brilliant moment in more ways than one. If you’ve never experienced a fugue state or its aftermath (and I hope you haven’t), this is almost exactly what it’s like. I have even heard similar noises to that sound effect as I became aware again. It’s a very clever moment that mimics life (albeit an unsettling and unusual experience) in a truly cinematic way.
JJ is one of my favorite characters. I really hope he makes an appearance, especially after Anti took him over.

Your egos have been the most important and influential part of my childhood. I have pages and pages of "theories" on my google docs and notes app that have gone untouched since 2018. I love looking back at them and seeing what shaped me and made me *me*. I love them so much and they make me so happy.
It’s always nice to see creators look back on their work and be proud of the content they’ve made that inspired and continues to inspire so many. JJ is my favorite!
I love how Seán made it so Anti was made from his fears like glitches and being stabbed in the neck. That was a super cool touch and made me like Anti even more!
JJ is one of my favorite of the egos honestly, I remember when the first video came out and being absolutely blown away by the puppet show at the end. The ego lore was some of my favorite stuff to keep up with in the past and I loved it so much and I'm so glad that yall are kinda/have fleshed them out and made them genuine characters

I remember when the pumpkin video came out. You were by far my most watched UA-camr at the time and I was ECSTATIC!!! It was the coolest thing I had ever seen!! I really love the egos and when I saw the comic book came out I preordered it so fast.
I got so much early inspiration for my own early writing through Jacks egos, so to see how much they've progressed over the years is so nice. Going through this and getting to see Jacks own analysis of it has been awesome!!!!

It’s so nice seeing you reflect on these characters 😊 it was fun to create them alongside you. I created the first Anti concept and it evolved bc my friends were better at drawing 😅 and then you reblogged them and we freaked out bc you noticed our fun stuff! I came up with it after you played surgeon simulator and yelled “ahhh antiseptic!! My enemy!” So surreal what it’s become, thanks for the amazing community and I’m so proud to be part of it all these years later.
