Concreter here. Your mix is way to dry my dude. The filler is fine maybe a little more water but the smooth layer need much more water. Tapping it with the trowel brings the water to the surface than float the top with the trowel to smooth it. So much easier and quicker in the end. Will dry slower with less cracking.
I would say the mix on the transition looked too dry, you don’t want to be adding too much water after you’ve placed it , a spray bottle is great to keep it moist for curing and finishing.
Your diy videos motivate me. While off roading recently i found a decent sized perfect smooth foundation in the middle of nowhere. Swept it up and had a good flat ground sesh.. Makes me want to mob out there with some concrete
Looking forward to whatever you build next 👍🏼 a tarp over the pour to protect it from the sun would of saved you on adding water. Hindsight’s always 20/20
good shit. don't worry about what people have to say. you're going out of your own way to contribute something to the community. great work ethic and always tries to keep the vibes positive. keep it up, you're killing it.
this was pretty dope. cant wait to see what's next. always refreshing to have a skater on youtube who actually skates rather than just reacting to tiktoks
love it bro building diy atm under a highway on the gold coast as a 46 year old and having as much fun now skating as ever cheers for the tips and knowledge skate or die
Dude this thing is awesome. Way to go through to the finish line. You could totally add like a metal ledge with a little quick Crete for some grindage but either way people are gonna be wall riding and just raging this. Thanks for all your hard work building this and all the filming and editing. Bro you’re a champion
that is looking sick bro. your hard work is paying off. I recently found a spot similar to this and was thinking quarter pipes up the walls on both sides like a giant halfpipe would be sick
using a half block on the bottom wall coarse so the block gaps are not aligned would add strength to the whole structure, keep on building and learning !!
Anding a kicker bank on the side that would be knarly!! Great job love your videos I will always support you ✌️ also I feel like another good project in the future would be a parking curb 😜
Cool build, man ! I could see a miniramp and a hip somewhere in there. What's the width of that ditch? At the bottom of your transition, you probably should cut or chip up the existing concrete so you new crete has something to bite on to and doesn't start breaking up at the bottom.
I should have you come to my house and DIY a small miniramp in my back yard. 😂 This is helpful though. I'm really debating doing it myself. I built a wood ramp but I think it could be better and wider and anymore I think concrete will be cheaper.
Do you still prefer or use Mortar as a top layer? Ive been building w concrete lately and if $ wasn't a problem I wld go with Ardex CD or even Mapei concrete patcher but I've been looking for a cheaper option cause both of those are around like $20ish for 20-30lbs... I'm actually resurfacing the slab in my backyard right now with sakcrete top n bond, which was $27 for 40lbs (also bag seems like its actually 40lbs compared to a slack 25lbs from other brands). Sakcrete also makes a product called flo-coat I think but I've never been a fan of stuff u don't trowel on! I had commented a while back u shld try mixing w a drill/paddle in a 5 gal bucket then saw a video where u had a whip set up! I used to do concrete and plaster work for the movie studios and I am also a pro when it comes to mud/drywall finishing! I've had a painting company for like 10 years. But anyways I was gonna say one other thing u may like to try if u haven't already, especially when it comes to jobs like the mortar layer or skim coating is a hawk! It's like a 16" metal square with a handle on the bottom, when I first started working w concrete/plaster everybody gave me crap cause I wld use a mud pan lol and I was skeptical of the hawk, but once I used it and was showed how to do it right I was like oh yeah this def has a use and can be a great and cheap tool at times! Love your channel tho and been watching and drawing inspiration from your channel for a while! I wld love to see u build some more specialized obstacles like a quater bank quater or bowl corners or even something new u dream up! Oh another thing I've been having trouble finding info on amd want to try, well maybe, one day is a fill free pour, where you use pvc pipes under a slab or whatever u r building and start the pour in the pipe and then have the form on top. Then they pvc has rebar and acts like legs to save from having to fill and move dirt and rocks. I saw this one video where a guy had a funky backyard set up and was using this style but cldnt find much info on how to do it like that...jist a idea. I've been designing a few things for my backyard and hoping to make some videos once I build it. Jist need 2 make up my mind on what to build next haha!!! I got twin sons that are 10 so trying to build something we both enjoy! Built a concrete quater last year. Thanks and hope you have a great day! 𝐃𝑱◎𝐋
The hardest part of a diy spot is finding a good spot. The labor is easy because it's fun

thnx!
Fantastic stuff! Really enjoy the video seeing it coming alive. Wish I could try this here in Hong Kong. Keep building Zack!
Come visit anytime Baul! I would love to make it over there someday to skate.
All the graffiti being buff is a bad sign. Probably means the city is aware of what’s going on
man your dedication to building the spots is awesome. looks so fun to skate
I’d invest in a wheelbarrow to carry the bags and mix with. Much easier to mix in than a tarp and you can just wheel it to the form and dump it.
I would say the mix on the transition looked too dry, you don’t want to be adding too much water after you’ve placed it , a spray bottle is great to keep it moist for curing and finishing.
i believe he used 5 bags with a 5 gallon jug. that sounds about right
lol

Thanks homie!! Looking forward to building some unique obstacles. The support is appreciated.
This is awesome love the story and how you cut it all together, the quarterpipe turned out great
Been wanting to start a build ever since first watching this channel. Another great video. Thank you.

I’m glad I saw this video before I tried building anything with a deck. Definitely seems overwhelming for just one person on the job.
I wonder what the graffiti erasers said about the cinder blocks, they must have been there a while - maybe skaters
You should do a video where you go check the old spots you built and see the wear and tear or if they are even there
this was pretty dope. cant wait to see what's next. always refreshing to have a skater on youtube who actually skates rather than just reacting to tiktoks
Great DIY video , I wish I could help.
I appreciate you! This helps a ton.
I will try to help you out on all your builds

Love seeing your diy vids! Been trying to find a good spot in my city for awhile and hopefully found a good one
The outlaw music is perfect for building DIY spots!
Your videos are so inspiriting, dude! Getting stoked to try concrete DIY
small quarters like that are the best feeling to ride. I’ve been hunting for a secluded curb to build a spot like this on top of

Great video 😍 we finally found a spot. We start building in about two weeks. This was very helpfull
What an exciting project… good to see it slowly taking shape. Looking forward to future videos!
You should add a bank with brick texture
Also these types of videos are really entertaining
Good stuff! So many inspiration for creating my own diy

This is cool as hell dude! Keep it up
That's how the pros do it 🤙💥
Hell yeah!!!
Another great DIY im on the hunt to find a spot to start building my own soon ! You’ve been a big inspo
using a half block on the bottom wall coarse so the block gaps are not aligned would add strength to the whole structure, keep on building and learning !!
Stoked for you bud. Good work!!!

What a fantastic build and edit.
Ty for the fun and inspiration
Inspirational, makes me want to get out and get into diy

I know im waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy late but i recommend a Dolly!!!!
Love these videos! Can’t wait to see more!
Use a centre bit of form bruz, then take it out and fill it while it’s wet. Don’t loose that shape in the process. 🤙
Amazing video, instant subscribe
Such an inspiration!!
Sweet quarter bro
Love these videos 🤙🏽
So rad
did you paint over every tag that was in that tunnel?
Nice ramp 👍🤘🏼
Sick dawg
dad strength😎
I am guessing this is a spill way for when the winter rains come. So, I expect it to wash away by your next summer? Impressive effort.
Nice park!
I should have you come to my house and DIY a small miniramp in my back yard. 😂

I see good times ahead. 😎
Thank you!! 🙏
¡Gracias!
soooooooooooooo want this spot to work out for you bro !!!! hope your haters stay away this time.... and... what a spot !!!!
siiiccckkkk
After 37 years of skateboarding I have had the opportunity to skate with 3 twins well. A. Twin quarter pipe makes a half pipe
Nice
That looks so fun! What do you suggest for a solo noob to do a DIY? Maybe a curb(rub brick, salba sauce, wax)?
you can make a ledge from a few cinder blocks, liquid nails, and angle iron coping
Nice vid i im from Belgium we dont have any skate park
gotta get a wheel barrow haha
The fucking bob ross of building spots
Thanks!
Legend!! Appreciate the support, stoked your spot is still going! Labor is like meditation haha.
@@ZackDowdy I hope to see your spot grow like mine did. I feel like I got super lucky with the community in the end
Thanks
Thank YOU!
What about steel coat hangers as rebar
Danke!
You rule!
Who buffed all the walls mid way through the vid?
Sorry about your shovel dude!

You need to steal a trolley from home depot.
Just take it back after.
Good video, you guys are busting your ass out there but looks fun.
It's so fun!! Appreciate the love and support.
@@ZackDowdy welcome man
How much money (u.s.d.) would this run me and thanks for the info btw
Does anyone know the final cost to build it
How high is it ?
Wait, what happened to the graffiti?
U need to use more water
