Betting Issac to bleach her hair and his self centered attitude was disgusting. Him sleeping with best friends and making out with Paige randomly is a major red flag, but him telling Jackie he wish she never came and telling Alex I’ll just wait on her and she’ll come to me and him betraying Alex at the end of the series after telling him he wouldn’t ever do something like that intentionally is irredeemable. It makes me more annoyed that Cole tells Jackie throughout the season that it is wrong for her to date Alex even though she likes cole, but the fact he says that while also leading to Erin for like half of the series while sleeping with her best friend. To answer the question of "why is this so intense so quick?", it's because there are only 8 episodes and not 22 like cable tv used to be. It has its upsides and downsides

it would’ve been nice if they had like 10 or 12 episodes ngl cause the pacing of the storylines was obviously a bit rushed imo and ik it’s for CANCELLING reasons but idk, i don’t think i could’ve bared 22 episode of this show but a bit more would’ve been nice just to see more of the rest of the characters and not just cole, alex and jackie… like danny and cole’s ex (can’t remember her name) or isaac idk
A wrecked knee, torn acl, etc. You can return to playing eventually. But the recovery time means the schools and scouts are already moving on to other players who aren't injured, or aren't at risk of re-injury.
Correction: not all of them were bad, but my favorites were danny and nathan. At least the kids showed that they have flaws they need to work through, but are not bad people. But hated the pranks they played on her. I get alex needs to fix his issues with Cole, but at least he has his life somewhat put together. Glad cole is trying to change, but he really can’t not make up his mind on things.
Honestly, I started watching this because I needed something light & dumb. I was afraid though this will start getting on my nerves at some point but I was actually quite surprised with how they subverted few tropes here and there. But what mainly made me keep watching was the family dynamic. Like those parents are GOALS. They aren't perfect but they communicate and love each other and all their kids so much. I honestly wish they adopted me, I can be the older sister walking around with anti-horny spray to keep Cole in check 😂
Am I the only one who yelled at Katherine to charge her patients money. She kept complimenting her husband and go “you’re doing the best you can”. Like witch, just support your husband and stop relying on him to pull money out of his butt. Charge your patients. Most seem wealthy.

In my opinion, both boys were bad options. Alex saw Jackie as a prize and used her to gas his ego because he felt like his brother was better than him. I totally agree with you guys, about everything that is icky & red flag 🚩 about the writing of this show. What makes it worse, is that the original story was written by a 15 year old girl, Ali Novak… & was later developed for television by another woman, Melanie Halsall. It’s NOT OKAY for Jackie to be treated like this. All these practical jokes with snakes 🐍 bleaching hair… & Cole smouldering all over the place, with no substance.

i was team alex in the first half, but i’m a victim of the cole effect too! cole just slowly grows on you….but anyways i’m excited to see the reaction for the second half:)))
I would like to point out that the show gave a lot of the cole/jackie moments (and personality) to alex and have essentially destroyed all characters to have this love triangle. in the book, alex and jackie agree to just be friends because they were both using each other to run away from their feelings. It's a mutual understanding that they're not meant to be. The show compared to the book is a bit of whiplash is you ask me.
can confirm you can get a career-ending injury at that age, probs even more so if its football. i injured my patella from playing volleyball (didn't even make contact anyone) and had to stop playing otherwise it would lead essentially to a lifelong injury.

I really liked Alex at first, but he turned out to be just as bad as Cole, just in different ways. They're both such bad (potential) boyfriends. Practically all the romance on this show is terrible: Warning! Spoilers ahead! Alex & Jackie: he doesn't tell her about Paige and then chalks that up to his insecurity, which leads to her having to comfort him. WTF? Then he doesn't call her when Nathan is in the hospital. Nathan, who lives in the same house as her, who is her running buddy etc. but Alex "didn't want to worry [her]". WTF? And then he tells her he loves her and immediately tells her "she doesn't have to say it back" with major emphasis on 'have' as in 'you don't have to, but you really should and why don't you?!' Again: WTF? Jackie isn't blameless, btw. When Cole tells her she's with Alex, because Alex is safe she basically confirms that by telling him that she's with Alex because he doesn't treat women the way Cole does. The bar is low, people. Cole & Jackie: I must be too old for the Cole-effect, because he just comes across as mean and not all that charming. The whole I'm-hurting-so-I-hurt-everyone-I-love shtick is not appealing to me, at all. Plus, he constantly tells Jackie that he knows her feelings better than she does and gets mad at her for flirting with him. I know we all know that she has feelings for Cole, but it's mainly Cole flirting with her and not the other way around. I'm struggling to see what she's doing wrong when she spends almost as much time with Nathan or Danny as she does with Cole. She's clearly connecting with him, but not necessarily in the romantic/sexual way Cole wants. There's very little active flirting on her part, is what I'm saying. Will & Hayley: I wanted Hayley to run for the hills for the majority of their relationship. Even moreso when they have a relationship-ending fight, break up and then get back together only to decide to immediately get married. No problems are fixed, let's get hitched: sigh. But then she turns out to have some sort of secret up her sleeve with that Morgan-text. I can't blame her, because I think Will is the worst. Alex & Kiley: There is zero indication that Alex knows she has feelings for him (she certainly hasn't told him) yet she's quite often annoyed about him treating her like just a friend. Girl, you've friendzoned yourself. Be his friend or tell him you like him. Pick one. Nathan & Skylar: Their relationship issues are more typical teen stuff, with coming on too strong, not knowing how to handle that intensity and therefore avoiding the other person, using the coming on too strong stuff in order to reject someone while actually you're just a little hesitant etc. That's all fairly innocent, but the show then weirdly depicts it as Skylar being in the wrong because apparently someone writing a song for you is always romantic. You are not allowed to feel that's too much too soon. If you don't think that's romantic then there's something wrong with you! Tara & Nikhil: Tara is super into Nikhil, upset when he's leaving, she even tells him off for not asking her to come with him, then she spends one day around Richard and clearly is very conflicted when Nikhil announces his decision not to leave for her. Ugh, whiplash. And then there's the Walter parents, who are doing a pretty good job as parents and not such a good job as partners. She's a prize-winning vet, but half the time doesn't charge people for her work. (This is such a female-coded thing: like she's so kind, but also as if her work is charity or something. It's not. She's running a business. She needs to get paid. In actual money. Even if they didn't have 11 kids to feed!) And he keeps the financial troubles from the farm from her for quite a while. I get both of their motives, but it's not good relationship-stuff. Communication is so important.

Okay, so not that I agree with the reasoning, but, I feel like the two brothers pining after you fantasy exists because it feels like an intense signifier of desirability - you’re so hot and interesting that two people can’t help but risk a bond as important as family.
i was giggling all throughout this video. i've seen the show and read the book, not because i thought it would be good, but because this kinda thing entertains me to no end. it's messy and strange and so made for kids, the book even more than the show, but that's what makes it so funny. like, the fact that her whole family dies and (most prominently in the book) they barely touch on the subject more than that she's sad sometimes says a lot about it's target audience. but im having a good ol time reading/watching it and that's all i really want in a show like this.
PLEASE WATCH NEVER HAVE I EVER it's such a good show and it shows the process of grieving over someone from teenager's perspective and her life throughout highschool. I highly recommend it. By the way, I love y'alls videos

Over Thanksgiving dinner, while everyone was trying to decide what was best for Jackie to stay or go to NY, Cole was the only one who asked "what she really wanted".Jackie's confidence in every conversation with Cole leaves Alex behind. Cole is Jackie's greatest confidant, the best conversations are with them, that's why he spoke to her from the fireplace, they did flirt. The intensity in looking at each word. Unfortunately, Jackie doesn't have that with Alex. It's clear that in episode 5 Cole has already changed, until he sees her kissing Alex. And in episode 6 Alex also threw his relationship with Jackie in Cole's face to provoke him also because of Paige. Alex knows that Cole also likes Jackie from the beginning.

the piece that is really missing is that all the scenes that people fell for alex over were cole parts in the book... the adding her to the height tower in the loft, the horseback riding with manhattanhenge.. Honestly, I started watching this because I needed something light & dumb. I was afraid though this will start getting on my nerves at some point but I was actually quite surprised with how they subverted few tropes here and there. But what mainly made me keep watching was the family dynamic. Like those parents are GOALS. They aren't perfect but they communicate and love each other and all their kids so much. I honestly wish they adopted me, I can be the older sister walking around with anti-horny spray to keep Cole in check 😂

In my opinion, both boys were bad options. Alex saw Jackie as a prize and used her to gas his ego because he felt like his brother was better than him. At first I thought he was sweet until you see his animosity towards his brother then it got weird. Cole was not any better, but Alex def wasn’t a better option 😅 Team Single Jackie

I would like to point out that the show gave a lot of the cole/jackie moments (and personality) to alex and have essentially destroyed all characters to have this love triangle. in the book, alex and jackie agree to just be friends because they were both using each other to run away from their feelings. It's a mutual understanding that they're not meant to be. The show compared to the book is a bit of whiplash is you ask me.

I really liked Alex at first, but he turned out to be just as bad as Cole, just in different ways. They're both such bad (potential) boyfriends. Practically all the romance on this show is terrible:

Alex & Jackie: he doesn't tell her about Paige and then chalks that up to his insecurity, which leads to her having to comfort him. WTF? Then he doesn't call her when Nathan is in the hospital. Nathan, who lives in the same house as her, who is her running buddy etc. but Alex "didn't want to worry [her]". WTF? And then he tells her he loves her and immediately tells her "she doesn't have to say it back" with major emphasis on 'have' as in 'you don't have to, but you really should and why don't you?!' Again: WTF?
Jackie isn't blameless, btw. When Cole tells her she's with Alex, because Alex is safe she basically confirms that by telling him that she's with Alex because he doesn't treat women the way Cole does. The bar is low, people.
Cole & Jackie: I must be too old for the Cole-effect, because he just comes across as mean and not all that charming. The whole I'm-hurting-so-I-hurt-everyone-I-love shtick is not appealing to me, at all. Plus, he constantly tells Jackie that he knows her feelings better than she does and gets mad at her for flirting with him. I know we all know that she has feelings for Cole, but it's mainly Cole flirting with her and not the other way around. I'm struggling to see what she's doing wrong when she spends almost as much time with Nathan or Danny as she does with Cole. She's clearly connecting with him, but not necessarily in the romantic/sexual way Cole wants. There's very little active flirting on her part, is what I'm saying.
Will & Hayley: I wanted Hayley to run for the hills for the majority of their relationship. Even moreso when they have a relationship-ending fight, break up and then get back together only to decide to immediately get married. No problems are fixed, let's get hitched: sigh. But then she turns out to have some sort of secret up her sleeve with that Morgan-text. I can't blame her, because I think Will is the worst.
Alex & Kiley: There is zero indication that Alex knows she has feelings for him (she certainly hasn't told him) yet she's quite often annoyed about him treating her like just a friend. Girl, you've friendzoned yourself. Be his friend or tell him you like him. Pick one.
Nathan & Skylar: Their relationship issues are more typical teen stuff, with coming on too strong, not knowing how to handle that intensity and therefore avoiding the other person, using the coming on too strong stuff in order to reject someone while actually you're just a little hesitant etc. That's all fairly innocent, but the show then weirdly depicts it as Skylar being in the wrong because apparently someone writing a song for you is always romantic. You are not allowed to feel that's too much too soon. If you don't think that's romantic then there's something wrong with you!
Tara & Nikhil: Tara is super into Nikhil, upset when he's leaving, she even tells him off for not asking her to come with him, then she spends one day around Richard and clearly is very conflicted when Nikhil announces his decision not to leave for her. Ugh, whiplash.
And then there's the Walter parents, who are doing a pretty good job as parents and not such a good job as partners. She's a prize-winning vet, but half the time doesn't charge people for her work. (This is such a female-coded thing: like she's so kind, but also as if her work is charity or something. It's not. She's running a business. She needs to get paid. In actual money. Even if they didn't have 11 kids to feed!) And he keeps the financial troubles from the farm from her for quite a while. I get both of their motives, but it's not good relationship-stuff. Communication is so important.
The scene with Alex and the horses and the tree reference to New York was Cole’s scene 😢

Okay, so not that I agree with the reasoning, but, I feel like the two brothers pining after you fantasy exists because it feels like an intense signifier of desirability - you’re so hot and interesting that two people can’t help but risk a bond as important as family.
i was giggling all throughout this video. i've seen the show and read the book, not because i thought it would be good, but because this kinda thing entertains me to no end. it's messy and strange and so made for kids, the book even more than the show, but that's what makes it so funny. like, the fact that her whole family dies and (most prominently in the book) they barely touch on the subject more than that she's sad sometimes says a lot about it's target audience. but im having a good ol time reading/watching it and that's all i really want in a show like this.
PLEASE WATCH NEVER HAVE I EVER it's such a good show and it shows the process of grieving over someone from teenager's perspective and her life throughout highschool. I highly recommend it. By the way, I love y'alls videos

Over Thanksgiving dinner, while everyone was trying to decide what was best for Jackie to stay or go to NY, Cole was the only one who asked "what she really wanted".Jackie's confidence in every conversation with Cole leaves Alex behind. Cole is Jackie's greatest confidant, the best conversations are with them, that's why he spoke to her from the fireplace, they did flirt. The intensity in looking at each word. Unfortunately, Jackie doesn't have that with Alex. It's clear that in episode 5 Cole has already changed, until he sees her kissing Alex. And in episode 6 Alex also threw his relationship with Jackie in Cole's face to provoke him also because of Paige. Alex knows that Cole also likes Jackie from the beginning.

the piece that is really missing is that all the scenes that people fell for alex over were cole parts in the book... the adding her to the height tower in the loft, the horseback riding with manhattanhenge.. I think for cinema they really needed to balance it, otherwise it would be too obvious who the best pick was.
