That’s a shame your trip was cut short but at least you were able to get it fixed properly and reasonably quickly. I always hope nothing goes wrong like that when I travel on the bike! Thanks for sharing and I’ll look forward to seeing your next adventure 😊
Was lucky where it happened, 400m from a Gas Station where I could comfortably access the issue. Will schedule the ride another weekend. Was in the right frame of mind to continue. Cheers
That's a bugger Dodger, you were lucky to get away without any damage. I'm sure you'll be having words with the mob who fitted the C&S. As Darren says, ride safe!
Bummer eh! A misadventure on an adventure. There's a story there. I do all of my maintenance due to attention to detail by some of the big named motorcycle service departments. At least your workaround got you both home. Well done!! 👏😁
Thanks mate. I normally take it to Kawasaki Lilydale, but thought I try local, considering it was only new tread plus chain & sprockets, I thought she’ll be right. Got that wrong. More to the point they got it wrong.
Pissed off with the so called mechanic. If correctly done would have had a great weekend, weather was fine, destination beautiful. Anyway have re scheduled the trip for another weekend. Thanks
I would have been livid!!! Anyway, you got home ok and that's all that matters... Lucky you weren't too far mate. I trust that the mechanics that had worked on it got an ear full the next day...
Was looking to be a good weekend trip. After wasting too much time much time resolving the issue plus loosing motivation to continue, decided to retry another time. Cheers
It is a sad day that you had to push your Versys X300. That is a rare occurrence. Sorry Dodger our X300's are as reliable as it gets. The torque on that front sprocket nut and the fold over washer should have never let that happen. Mechanics error.
No good at all mate... nothing worse when u pay for a mechanic to do their job and they balls it up.... how many kms did you get out of your chain and sprockets that were replaced... im about to hit 4000 on mine... also what tank bags are u and ur wife using... im in the market for one thats fits well on the 300x and they look like a good fit
Got 17000km from original chain & sprocket, although I did change the front at 4000km one up. Tank bag is a Nelson Riggs, designed for adventure bikes, they fit well, you can run the straps under the side plastic. The bags can also expand to a large size by zip. Cheers
I'm changing the front sprocket on my x300 tomorrow morning... And I've gotta admit, this video makes me kind of nervous. Glad you made it home safe though. Thanks for sharing your (mis)adventure.
Great video dodger. I know what I would be doing paying a visit to the shit bike shop you took it to. Should have kept going dodge after getting bike fixed. Ride safe buddy
Thanks buddy. Was considering travelling on, but lost too much time plus motivation to continue. Rather be in a better frame of mind to continue. Will do the trip on another weekend. Cheers

Bugger mate ended probably a good weekend away but glad you got it fixed without many problems but that bike shop has a lot to answer for !

Definitely a mechanic error. Shouldn’t have happened. The Versys x300 is a reliable Bike, hasn’t let me down.
Very impressed, Dodger ...you only said "shit" once ....
Yeah was disappointed with what happened. Most of the cursing was edited out.😁

@@DodgerMohr thanks mate purchased the same one today... I've had a look but couldn't see... do u have a video of the tank bag install?
Terrible mechanic. Should at the very least have got a full refund. You are lucky you were not seriously injured
Thanks 🙏 Yeah was lucky, could have been worse.
Yep. Hey what bash plate do you have on the versys (if any)?
