Love this! I get the real pet food box for my corgi which is basically the same thing you guys are doing! Couple questions... How long do those treats stay good for? Does the dehydrating stink up your house? Especially the smelt. Great video, keep up the great work!!
Hahaha thanks for watching! To answer your questions: The treats last for months- we keep them in the fridge! We have a vent in our kitchen so it doesn’t stink up our place 😄

That's a great idea. I just think smelt is gross but Cooper sure likes it. How long does dehydrated food last? I've seen recipes for biscuits that are healthy and you know what ingredients are in them. Does Cooper like the strawberries too?🍓 Your tutorials are really nicely done.

Think you've made a smart decision. You just don't know what caliber and type of ingredients and chemicals make it into store bought treats. I don't like playing Russian roulette with my dogs health and life. Do you need to watch that pieces of jerky aren't too big as to be a choking hazard? Actually you're providing Cooper with Cadillac quality snacks for pennies on the dollar. Thanks for sharing your great idea👍

How do you store the treats? In the fridge or just airtight containers? Thank!
We use OXO pop-it containers and then put those into the fridge. Alternatively you can vacuum seal the treats and put them in the fridge as well if you make a large enough batch. We have not had any spoilage issues with the dehydrated treats as long as they spend enough time in the dehydrator to remove most of the moisture.

You will definitely save money but most importantly you will know exactly what you are feeding your dogs. Happy dehydrating!
What's the temp and time on fish and beef
Temp is around 125 and the time is roughly 6-8 hours. It really depends on how much water the proteins are retaining. We just check every hour and stop dehydrating when we reach a desired dryness.
