    Informative thanks. My honest opinion is, don't be discouraged if you already have your clutch industrial sewing machine, it also does the work and as per speed, you can control it. Imagine driving your car at 150km/hr as to driving it at 20km/hr. Also consider the financial aspect. Guys pls love whatever machine you have just as you love yourself one day money go flourish and then you can get whatever luxury machine you desire. God bless our hustle. Ire o!

    This has been a great and informative video. I have my eyes set on a seiko walking foot machine and many bag making videos have said to get a servo motor, but this machine is a clutch and I was worried that I wasn't getting a servo motor, but actually didn't know what they meant. So thank you for clearing the confusion up for me.

    Good day. Thanks for the information. But I think the direct drive is more 💯 % stronger, neater, and more automatic than the clutch sewing. I have the two in my shop I have used them and saw a lot different between them. Firstly, when it's comes to strong fabric (thick fabric) the direct drive does a better job.it can penetrate any thickness of fabric without any skipping of thread..when you have a bad connection /high voltage the direct drive simply tells you by show E07 or E01 (error) and it will on its own stop working (sewing). When your thread gets into the engine (the bobbin case engine it will also tell you by showing E07.. When your voltage is low it will show off yet it will still be working but the speed will reduce.. The direct drive also have the needle settings and also the curve speed settings. It also have the start up settings (when u want to start sewing your fabric you can set it to the number of stitches you want to strt in terms of speed before the actual speed of the machine.. It has a lot of advantages over the clutch machine.

    Direct drive is a machine with the motor integrated into the machine with no belt. The main sewing shaft is driven directly by the motor. A traditional machine can use a clutch motor or a servo with a belt. Direct drive increases torque and reduces slipping in the case of a motor with a belt.

    DD is more powerful, delivers more torque and eliminates the use of drive-belts.

    I've been searching and nowhere...I mean nowhere does anyone give the power rating watts/hp of a direct drive machine making it very difficult to compare with an external powered machine. I understand because its direct coupled to the shaft, it doesn't loose power through the belt and pulleys and can be smaller. I'm also looking at a non direct drive serger with external servo mtr and the dealer suggested a 1hp servo motor upgrade instead of the std 1/2 hp. I'm not sure if thats enough power for 4 layers of denim like non-woven material 0.75 mm thick? He didn't think it was necessary to send him a sample?

    What is a power surge or what do you call it

    • @iyke4djakes
      @iyke4djakes 14 днів тому

      Sudden burst of high voltage on a transmission line is called power surge.
      This can be caused by Lightning, Earthing/grounding fault, or Neutral Fault from the local transformer on your street.
      Standard voltage in Nigeria for most equipments is between 180 - 230v.
      If suddenly the voltage rises to 240v and above due to any of the faults listed above, it may burn some components on the electronic circuit board of the machine, that is, the control panel.
      Best way to protect the motor is to use a fuse, a socket with 5A breaker, and TV guard.

I have been using a clutch motor machine before i bought my direct drive, it has never developed any fault that the technicians around couldnt fix, after two years of using my direct drive, it got spoilt and finding someone who can fix it has been so hard, the ones i got are telling me i need to replace the panel which is quite expensive

    I bought a direct drive emel sewing machine yesterday,I don't know if this video would have made me choose the clutch type over the direct drive cos I was drawn to the fact that the direct drive consumes less power, and yes I got a TV guide for it.
    My friend has the clutch type she tells me not to press the motto too hard if it's too fast for me and she's right.
    Thanks for the video,I wish you can make a video on how to thread the direct drive. I threaded mine but it's not stitching. Thanks

      Oh! That's amazing. And you made the right choice. But with the direct drive, you can reduce your speed right?

      I haven't used a direct drive overlock machine. So you may need to try using someone's own to see if there's any difference.
