this heartfelt Love Ballad has become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th Cent. , most notably in 1965 by the famous American musical duo - Righteous Brothers.
Originally released in 1955 , it was written by Hy Zaret , composed by Alex North and performed by Todd Duncan as a theme for the prison film - 'Unchained.' The song was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song of 1955.
It has been covered by many notable artists in multiple languages with some of the well-known artists version to be charted on Billboard Top 10 in US and Top 20 in the UK. eg. Elvis Presley , Righteous Bros., Leann Rimes , Harry Belafonte , Willie Nelson , Heart , Leo Sayer , U2 and many musicians.
The Righteous Bros. version achieved a 2nd round of great popularity after it was featured in the film - Ghost in 1990.
The song continued to chart in the 21st Cent.
