  • I've had to "fix" a couple of things since playing drag cars and modding the instrument cluster to colourMFA. These mods have led to some errors being stored in various modules so i thought to show you some of the more useful features of VCDS.
    I detail how to
    • reset an airbag light - VCDS is highly practical for airbag errors as other tools just can't clear these.
    • 2:40 add in boost gauge, oil temperature and lap timer via Special Funcstions menu.
    • 11:41 activate needle sweep, remove date display, and show you the various options how your intrument cluster can light up it's needles and scales.
    • 17:20 AFS light bending headlights showroom effect and tourist mode as well as running through basic settings.
Don't ask me how these are done with OBD11 or any other of those tools, i have zero experience with them as i have found VCDS to be feature rich enough to get me by 99% of the time.
If there are any other VCDS questions you have please pop them in the comments below and i'll do my best to detail those processes too.
    Enjoy!
UPDATE: Regarding instrument cluster coding options and 3 and 4. This is for a 2nd dimming characteristic that uses a light sensor in the cluster. In the day it will leave it all lit up, and when dark it will fade out the scales, as a prompt to turn on the headlights. This is for non auto headlight cars.

Nice one Ian! :-) As a caveat for early model Mk2 TT owners, not all years will have these options available. Early TT Mk2 models have very few optional code changes simply because VAG didn't included them in the factory build. Also, depending on the factory equipment that came with your vehicle, some code changes may or may not be possible. For example - if you have the RNS-E SatNav head unit it is possible to retrofit a reverse or back-up camera by changing the code settings so you can display the reverse image on the screen. However vehicles that were factory fitted with the Concert or Symphony head units will probably not have this option. Once you run your first Auto Scan, only those addresses and features which are present in your vehicle will be displayed. From there you can determine which Adaptations or Basic settings and re-code options are possible.
One other suggestion is to always run the Auto Scan and print out your OEM code settings BEFORE making any changes. Once you change them, there's no "undo" so you need to know how your car was coded BEFORE you make any changes so you can easily change it back if something goes wrong.

25:32 "Stationary cornering lamp - not sire what that is but it doesn't seem to have done anything" That's because you didn't turn the steering wheel when it was switched on - I think it should turn on the foglight on side your steering to... whilst stationary ;)

Yeah this is active on slow turning. It’s not very obvious on the TT from the driver’s view as it is in other cars in this platform (Passat and Octavia have a very prominent effect with this turned on)

Hi Ian, fantastic video again, Enjoyed the 3.6 build from start to finish. Do I need a VCDS as I am having an error code from front left indicator bulb 01493 despite changing the bulb, and it is very hot when you remove it. I'm at a loss. Any help/advice would be most welcome.

that kinda sounds like a wiring issue - maybe a bad ground? Also make sure it's not an LED bulb. Our cars don't play nice with those.

Hi thanks for the video, it is very informative!:)
I have an Audi TT 8J ‘07 and wanted to ask can I use soft coding on module 3 (ABS) to turn ESP always off with VCDS as car is only for track? Currently soft code shows 0017424. Also on top it shows 8J0614517 ESP MK60E1 0130.
Any tips would be very welcome:)

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga  3 роки тому +1

Sorry to say but “no” is the answer. You will probably want to speak to a tuner about doing this.
I found that changing ABS coding that there is no VCDS enabled option for this.
Here is a video where I play around in abs coding but you can see there aren’t any options for permanent off of ESP.

The manual method (hold the button) is the main feature from factory to turn it “off”.
