- What with it being Disney World's 50th Anniversary this year, I wanted one more outfit to wear for my upcoming Dapper Day trip, and of course, it needed to fit the occasion!
Working with limited yardage, I was able to turn this beautiful sequined fabric into the sparkliest high-waisted suspender skirt, and I am so pleased with how it turned out!

Such a cute dress! Glad you put the sequined fabric to good use, love the way the colours interact with the lighting and the fabric underneath. It seems like it shimmers in blue, pink/purple and gold, so pretty!

So adorable! I feel like rotary cutters might be the best option for cutting fabric like this - they’re super sharp, but the blades are thin and disposable. It can be difficult to cut accurately until you’ve practiced a bunch, but a good quilting ruler definitely helps.
Wouldn't the wheelie bit have issue with the sequins?
@@rd6203 probably not. They’re thin plastic, and a fresh rotary blade goes through that like it’s nothing.
I was thinking the same thing! Rotary cutter blades are cheap and easy to change!
I've had such issues with my rotary blades not cutting in certain spots -- I feel like using one on sequins would make them die even faster!

I love how despite all the things that were stacking up to be a problem, and the iron shenanigans, you also achieved the magic of zipper behaving, and even strap placements.

I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations for irons, but here's mine. I love my current iron that I bought after my kitty sent my old one to an early grave. That's cute, I might try that wide waistband thing sometime since I have no frigging clue where my waist is for a comfortable skirt waistband! (the narrow part of my torso is up above the bottom of my ribcage, which is fine for a dress but terrible for a waistband).
Also all I could think about when you put the straps on was that two comically oversized buttons to hold them on would be very Mickey!

Irons are the worst when they go! Mine didn’t make any noises just super heated melted the seam I was pressing and burnt my brand new ironing board cover!!! Very bad words were spoken!!

Love this! I put the Tube Turner in my basket at Amazon, I'm just debating how much I will use them but they would be awesome for the arms & legs of my cloth dolls. I have always used the old safety pin method (like Rachel). It can be frustrating & much slower for sure!

When I saw your iron on the same table as your computer and all that other stuff I almost had a cow! I have had too many go bad, meaning that their seals broke after getting so hot that all the water just comes out.. All I could think is you were going to lose everything on that table including your computer. So glad that didn’t happen. Maybe consider moving things in the future??!.

I have made many sequinned figure skating dresses on my serger. I can confirm that sergers hate sequins. I might have budgeted 2 paquets of needles per dress...

I didn't really. It was going to be more obvious if I patched it, and luckily it was off to the side right at the bottom, so not too noticeable.
