I absolutely love your teaching and play throughs. You are VERY good at teaching. One error you made at 55:30 - you did not follow the arrow order of placing growth. Gaia's chart show you move left to right, then right to left, then left to right, back and forth each row. You just went left to right each time.
I played at the same time as you my first game (beginner level). I scored 161, Gaia scored 255. I thought I did well: met 3 Flora objectives on 4, I have 11 Flora on 16. I got all my canopeas except one card and I filled all the sprout. So I am very surprised that I lost like that. I think something's wrong. For the all game I drew only one event (I had one Flora objective where I need to play 4 events and it was also the benefit of my land: Jamaica that I was never able to trigger). Looks that the number of event cards is too small.
Late reaction because this game is only now available in Dutch 🙂... I think Paul should end up with 220 points because hey forgot that he gets his growth back from Tropical Monsoon card in the last round... All other rounds when blue was activated he did it well 🙂
The event cards always seem quite punishing. Sometimes they are worth a bit more than they cost, but in a lot of cases it seems you do not want to play them at all. In my first and only game I had the asteroid quite early in the beginning of the game, but the cost for playing that event would be around -13 points (-4 points and then minus all the points you would lose by giving things up) and what I would gain from that never felt worth it (I believe it was 7 soil or something). On the other hand, my opponent played a card which was worth 10 points and 5 points for every mushroom in the corner or something. Basically the card was worth a net of 30 points total. I know the designer made the game superbalanced as I saw his designer notes, but still the -13 points event and the +30 points terrain card felt a bit unbalanced in that game. But I am sure that there are cases where the asteroid event is worth the -13 points you would get. And the terrain card is not always worth 30 points for example when you get this card in the middle or at then end of the game it will become a lot harder to make this card worth 30 points, but if you have this one in the beginning of the game, then you are definitely playing to get all 30 points out of this.
Yeah, it's all calculated by the algorithm indeed. It counts the potential value of each card for all variable, including the expected value of drawing, composting, every symbol and all. In the end, the event cards don't take an action to play, can be played at any time and even though they cost a lot they also give you a lot. Sometimes they are really good, sometimes not that much, like most of the cards in the deck :) The smaller events are almost always good, but are not as game changers.

Try cooking the Brussels sprouts as you have described but are you there add Cuman seeds to the garlic or just human seats added… Delicious!

My copy just arrived a few days ago. I thought it was a new, proper copy, had the company logo on, but there was no "solo" board included.
It's on the other side of one of the player boards.

BGA version has big bugs. Just had to abandon a game near the end because I couldn't progress. Wait awhile before playing there
Odd. I've played 6 games on there and not had any bugs like that. But that is what testing is for.

Sorry, I don't consider it "variety" that you might be scoring rocky terrain instead of rainy terrain, or getting points for bushes instead of trees.
When you plant multiple cards, do they not need to be adjacent?
Nope. As long as each card is planted adjacent to another, that is ok.
