Thankyou so much for posting this video, and you would be right that it is the only time it's ever been played live. I believe this was 1993, a year before their debut album.
Not sure if this was the show, but I saw them do Daddy live at Coney Island high in NYC back in like 1993 or 94. We went to see them the night before at the Count Basey Theater in Redband and met Jonathan after the show. He invited me and my friend to a show teh next night that WSOU was hosting. It was their last song - he broke down and cried - it was one of the craziest things that I have ever seen and I will never forget it.
poor jon idk how he performed this live hearing him cry in the original song almost made me cry it took true guts 2 do that cause i know i could have never sung a song like that live id break out in tears not even half-way through the song...
They actually attempted to play this song in 2000 at the pink pop festival but after the intro they stopped and started playing kill you but the crowed were cheering for john to sing but he smiled and shoke his head and they stopped and continued with kill you
I would think it was cathartic, to come out with your absolute worst and be accepted with open arms by strangers. Incredibly painful and massively cathartic.
this is definately real... i have their original demo, and this is the way the song Daddy was originally composed before the first album... this is from one of their first shows before they were even signed
something i don't think enough people realize, what was on that record was real, that was actually him breaking down, the song was written, but after the mommy why at the end, all of that is him breaking down, and if he had to do it live (which for some reason, this crowd made him do, so i'm believing) so he is going to break down, it doesn't matter if he is a man, this song is extremely difficult for him
Exactly, imagine being raped at a young age, actually...BEING RAPED PERIOD. It'd scar you, it'd be a hard subject to speak of. In his case, perform it.
Because 'Daddy' is the only korn song Jonathan refuses to play live. He was molested by a female neighbor when he was a child, and his father didn't believe him. And this incident has contributed a lot to the emotion that he projects into these lyrics.
Okay, it wasn't exaggerated. It was real. It's the reason he's never played this song again. He can't listen to it or play it without bursting into tears.
@Whiteman530 he used it because it was actually a close friend of the families that sexually abused him growing up, he said in multiple interviews that it's not about his father, and that he actually had a very good relationship with his father. neither of them will say who it was. but when JD first told his parents, they didn't believe him. so he called the song Daddy. you can actually hear in the song him say mommy didnt care, and stuff similar to that. j/s
its symbolism. hes saying that his parents knew about the abuse but denied it, which is basically the same as doing the abuse themselves. if you see something and deny it, your as much to blame as the physical culprit.
korn-molested 1993 august first demo from korn-korn the first and last live video because it hurt him to much you can hear him crying at the end of the video but still the best song ever
@Whiteman530 actually it's not about his father. the person was a family friend, and all Rick (Jon's dad) and Jon will say is that it was a woman, but they won't say who
Its so sad that his parents didnt believe him.. :/ Jon, refuses to play Daddy live, since he cant sing through it anymore cause he starts crying.. man thats sad :/ i wish i met him IRL..
@konflik KoRn never played the final version of Daddy live, only the Neidermeyer's Mind demo version of Daddy has been performed once!!!! in their career, and we're looking at that performance in this video:P If you have a real live version of Daddy in better quality, please share it with us, because I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist.
yes it was the only time daddy was done live. apparently jonathan davis could barely do it the first time, it was so emotional and hard for him. i feel bad for the guy. he was a little kid and raped by a grown man. this is definitely korns heaviest song lyrically.
Davis says it was not his father who raped him, nor was it his mother. It was someone outside the family. When he went to tell his parents they did not believe him and did nothing about it. Listen to the song again and you'll realize that he is expressing his anger towards his parents neglect of the situation and obviously towards the molester, he merely represents his father as the abuser to express his anger towards him.
well... the lyrics says that his father was raping him while his mother was watching, and she didn't do nothing to stop that, but people around here are saying that he's neighbor did that to him, but, the songs say "saw u watching" talking about his mother...
he only sung it twice this is some rare footage it should be in like a meuseum of music or something

there are ppl here talking shit! this is korn playing at hauntington beach [1993/10/18] if u think this sound inst korn, u arnt a korn fan! i have this show and i can say that..
Yeah, actually I do. Why? Because the emotion Davis puts forth is strong and real. It has nothing to do with the fact that their music is depressing. Clearly 46 other people can relate to what I have to say.
@MrSodaBelly sadly, they won't :( Jonathan refuses to play it live. even when they had the fans vote on what songs they would perform, Daddy topped the list, and they still didn't play it
For people who don't like the song, just imagine how many lives he saved singing that! I just have so much respect for JD!
This is the only live performance of Daddy, Jon Davis said that he didnt wanted to perform Daddy live because the meaning of the song. :( Poor Jon.
this song rocks.... i like his songs coz somehow it reflects what i feel.... i wish there was a video with better quality...
KORN FOREVER !
This is such a heart wrenching song
One of the bravest men that has ever existed in my opinion, so much respect for JD
man hearing jon cry makes me cry every time.. it has more of an impact live
this crowd does not know how blessed they are to see this song performed
korn will probaly never do this again...
Thankyou so much for posting this video, and you would be right that it is the only time it's ever been played live. I believe this was 1993, a year before their debut album.
Music come by sensations and emotions.... Thanks JD, Thanks Korn!
favourite korn song, well one of them!!
all the emotion in his voice just freezes me from the inside
best song from this album^^
Beautiful!

daddy (live) This video is legendary
such a fucking raw performer...gotta love JD
poor jon idk how he performed this live hearing him cry in the original song almost made me cry it took true guts 2 do that cause i know i could have never sung a song like that live id break out in tears not even half-way through the song...
JD has balls to go up and sing about shit like this, i give him props, he's a brave guy to be able to take that and live with it this way
They actually attempted to play this song in 2000 at the pink pop festival but after the intro they stopped and started playing kill you but the crowed were cheering for john to sing but he smiled and shoke his head and they stopped and continued with kill you
I would think it was cathartic, to come out with your absolute worst and be accepted with open arms by strangers. Incredibly painful and massively cathartic.
true, true
thank you
love this version much more then the cd version should have put this on cd.
damn I miss the 90's
this is definately real... i have their original demo, and this is the way the song Daddy was originally composed before the first album... this is from one of their first shows before they were even signed

Foolish Moon I've had it happen to me several times. It's only been about 13 years, since the first incident, but I still get night terrors about it.
That's what I was wondering, too
Because 'Daddy' is the only korn song Jonathan refuses to play live. He was molested by a female neighbor when he was a child, and his father didn't believe him. And this incident has contributed a lot to the emotion that he projects into these lyrics.
They did it again yesterday, it has been so long....
ive seen korn play daddy....this is def. not the only time.
Okay, it wasn't exaggerated. It was real. It's the reason he's never played this song again. He can't listen to it or play it without bursting into tears.

yeah, mine too!
its symbolism. hes saying that his parents knew about the abuse but denied it, which is basically the same as doing the abuse themselves. if you see something and deny it, your as much to blame as the physical culprit.
I'm with jon, you are the best brother
oh... ok... i'ma do a research around the net, thank you!!!
i agree :)
@MrSodaBelly For one concert Jonathan couldn't even do it, so i totally agree with you on this one
the year was 1993 when korn first strted and this is actually the DEMO version of Daddy
korn-molested 1993 august
first demo from korn-korn
the first and last live video
because it hurt him to much
you can hear him crying at the end of the video
but still the best song ever
ur right man
This song must be torturous to him. :'(
ya that was the only time...its so traumatic...just a small example as why johnathan davis is my main inspiration
this song was played as it was recorded on the neidermeyer's mind demo.
i saw korn in 98 for family values. they played the intro, but never got into the words.
i dont blame him, its a pretty emotional song.....
i hate when peoples start arguements on good videos of some of my favorite bands.
My god JD the raw emotional power, I wonder why you played it to begin with.
srry for double post was unintended
its hard to watch this, poor jon, im sure he was in pain when he was singing this song
i saw him play it live at the rave
@Whiteman530 actually it's not about his father. the person was a family friend, and all Rick (Jon's dad) and Jon will say is that it was a woman, but they won't say who
Its so sad that his parents didnt believe him.. :/
Jon, refuses to play Daddy live, since he cant sing through it anymore cause he starts crying.. man thats sad :/ i wish i met him IRL..
@MrSodaBelly yes this is a once in a lifetime opputunity
Back then, they at least expressed feelings. Nowadays...let's not talk about that.
He did say that his dad didn't molest him...a family friend did.PERIOD
This is a live version of the demo for the song daddy. Not the daddy track that was released.
thats right,,,
yeah i agree. but if you think about it, they could be just cheering their favorite band and maybe trying to cheer jon up.
you had so lucky for stay there
(sorry for my bad english)
yes is the only...later in the show jon cry...backstage...
Joder, que bien se ve XD
This is in 1993... BEFORE the record came out...
I feel sorry for him too :/ sad...

definately an album song
Yeah I know. He said he doesn't like to talk about the time either.
This is the first and last time they will play this.

Listen to the song again and you'll realize that he is expressing his anger towards his parents neglect of the situation and obviously towards the molester, he merely represents his father as the abuser to express his anger towards him.
god what i wouldent give to be their listening
To be fair if it didnt happen, Korn may not ever have happened! Not That Im justifying, but you get my meaning!
Pero se escucha que mas que korn parece un rico mambo jajajajaja...AGUANTE KORN!!!
este una de las mejores canciones de korn
seria bueno que el video salga de studio
@Maggot20098 but it's him it's just a friggin old video in bad quality but it's awesome :D
well... the lyrics says that his father was raping him while his mother was watching, and she didn't do nothing to stop that, but people around here are saying that he's neighbor did that to him, but, the songs say "saw u watching" talking about his mother...
JD is the shit he s my fucking hero
O.o poor guy (did someone else notice he started crying in the middle of the song?)
they also played it once in detroit.
the only filmed one probably. im guessing there has been other times. but if they play it then its totally up to jd.
this is the one and only time he played "daddy" couldn't get through the whole song!
he only sung it twice this is some rare footage it should be in like a meuseum of music or something

@MultiRocknroller Was that a copy&paste from Wiki?
Yea. A neighbour, whom was good friends with the family apparently.
there are ppl here talking shit!
this is korn playing at hauntington beach [1993/10/18]
if u think this sound inst korn, u arnt a korn fan!
i have this show and i can say that..
Yeah, actually I do. Why? Because the emotion Davis puts forth is strong and real. It has nothing to do with the fact that their music is depressing. Clearly 46 other people can relate to what I have to say.
what interview where can i find it?
@muscrusty actually, they've played it three times, but still, yeah..
This is the demo version personally I would've preferred this on the album but either way this song is sick
@MrSodaBelly sadly, they won't :(
Jonathan refuses to play it live. even when they had the fans vote on what songs they would perform, Daddy topped the list, and they still didn't play it
@muscrusty this is the second time, he didn't get through it the 2nd time!
huh so they played the first version of daddy, i didnt know that, i knew they played it only once but i thought it was the final cut
@jsctire I found that out a few weeks ago.
Oh you're not wrong there noone, adult or child deserves to have someone force themselves upon them.
is this the demo of daddy before the cd came out. i know only once theyve played this song live
holy shit! wen did yu meet jd? is he as nice in person as he seems on tv?
@silverflamesxjosh100 no its not...dork... it was a girl in his neighbor
im the first coment fuck yea yea his crying is not fake thats why they only preformen this song once
I have a biography on Korn. The song is actually not about Jon's dad.
@jix212dx i agree
