The Heartfelt Art of Jim Carrey

- Considered to be one of the most recognisable Hollywood actors of all time, Jim Carrey has been renowned since the 90s for making audiences of all ages laugh at his comedic high energy, slapstick and hysterical face expressions in an nearly endless list of movies now considered to be classics. A lot of my childhood favourites happen to star Jim Carrey and I’m sure I’m not alone in that!
Over the years as his fame grew however, comedy would gradually only become a portion of Carrey’s performances on screen. As he appeared in many more serious, challenging and drama-oriented movie roles that would reveal a more insightful and tender side to this usually jester-like personality that many audiences were used to. But despite Carrey’s undeniable versatility as an actor that offered us glimpses to this side of him, nothing would be quite as potent and revealing, and nothing would stun fans and the rest of the world more than what was ultimately revealed in his artwork.
Within his work is a vibrant world of bright colours, thick layers of paint and bold imagery that catches the eye almost immediately. But even within a collection of work that is so colourful, dark and painful secrets lie in waiting. The more you study each individual piece, the more you begin to truly see the complexity of such a mind. The loudness of thoughts, feelings and experiences.
I welcome you to explore with me today a selection of some of these truly heartfelt works of art by none other than Jim Carrey.

That conversation about depression is a pretty healthy way of discussing it. No hush hush. No shame. Just pure acceptance of a mental state for what it is.
I think Eva is a baby.
amen 😌
Talking about d,,even saying the word empowers it,making the delusion seem like it's a real illness,so I disagree
@@netcurtains strange line of thought there.
@@netcurtainsYou sound like you have depression and you're scared to admit it 😂
I never knew Jim Carrey did art, it’s cool to see how he expresses himself outside of acting!
Why?
he also have s girlfriend stds and she Epstein herself
@@netcurtainsbecause it's cool
Jim is a TRUE multi-media artist. On film, in speaking, and in using paint. From my own experience, only Jesus can touch our minds to CLARIFY what it is we want to EXPRESS. When I reach out to Christ, it is for clarification of what I want to sing, paint or say. So much noise in this world. Silence in order to hear the HIGHEST ONE is beautiful. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
Jim truly has a big heart and he feels more deeply than most. He has a lot of pain inside that he's dealt with all these years by being funny. I'm glad he finally started letting some of it out in his paintings. People think he's crazy because he can, at times, speak in riddles. I think he's just misunderstood.
*His soul is as beautiful as his art.*
Allegedly, he riddled his Irish girlfriend with sexual diseases he caught from prostitutes and emotionally abused her until she killed herself.
I don’t think what he says is “crazy,” but I do think of Robin Williams and how, like Carrey, made millions laugh while hurting. I battle depression too, so, I hope his outlets are sufficiently therapeutic.
I’m glad to see Jim Carrey using the creative process in Art to work through his personal struggles…Good for him! 👍👍👍👍
And good for us…..
I’d love a video on the art of the horror manga artist Junji Ito. He has incredible horrifyingly gorgeous art. And the amount of detail he puts into each panel is extraordinary
Omg yeah that would be a cool video
Funny considering how wholesome junji ito actually is as a human
I thoroughly enjoy his interviews, because of his insight on how fleeting a thing the ego is... And how the majority of the things we attribute world-shattering importance to, are actually meaningless. It's a freedom I have been steadily learning and cherishing for myself.
Thank you so much for this video... It really inspired me out of an art block, especially with "Hooray! We Are All Broken", so much movement in the gestures!
Very interesting art, and I appreciated your comments and interpretations od Jim's work.
What stuck out to me about Eva is that it seems like she's half real, half-ethereal. Perhaps she was just an idea of a person, but to him, she was real. That's the feeling I get from the painting.
Eva struck me too as if she was this beautiful child born out of the creativity of chaos.
I am not a fan of Jim Carrey. But I love his art. I feel it...I thought at first that I wouldn't like his art, that it was probably a gimmick but.....NO! His art is actually deep and thoughtful and expressive and...yea. You know what I mean?
Ps-have you ever look into Alice Neel's art? She's my favorite.
@@DillonTrinhProductions Does it matter- and if so, does it matter to you?
MANY MANY DIMENSIONS TO JIM CARREY...
His art is so underated
My friend owns an original Electric Jesus painting of his. She paid $13,000 for it about 4 years ago and it hangs in her dining room. It is so big and is so mesmerizing and beautiful. I’ve never seen such a gorgeous piece of artwork inside of a home before. I adore it. ❤️
The painting Eva broke my heart. I cried. For me he has put to canvas what I have felt for years. Love this man. He’s made me laugh with his comedy and now I see a new side to him. All the best Jim.
My favorite is "Hooray. We are all broken." I've been convinced for years this is the secret that's hiding in plain sight.
not hiding..
Electric Jesus looks like he's blowing us a kiss!!! Awesome!
Jim Carrey is a complex and challenging person. He has his demons and his regrets. I suspect his mental health is connected to his abstract painting. I also paint abstract and there is a lot of absolute crap abstract out there, but his work is exceptional in his skill, courageousness and his whimsy. Great video by the way. Carrey is always a fascinating person to learn about...
I love Jim Carrey's painting. I like the Eva painting the most. Jim Carrey is a very great Artist. Jim Carrey is great at everything he does. Love you Jim. 💕❤
I was mesmerized by his humor growing up and as I've gotten older I'm mesmerized by who he is as a person! 😭😭😭 I can see why he's pretty much left "Hollywood" behind.
I used to work at this art warehouse stretching canvas and got to see sum of his originals come in n one was about 18ft tall!his art is really deep with all the spectrums of feeling and thought I felt lucky being able to stretch the prints🙏🙂👽✌️
Bravo Jim Carrey and you too, Blind Dweller
As a fellow artist, I love to just watch as Jim creates! The silence speaks volumes and it becomes a roar, as it comes to life before your very eyes! Such a multi-talented individual, his brilliance is a radiance, whose Light will forever shine! Thank you for sharing.
i understand the why of my art better now...Thanks Jim Carrey
I love his art, especially the pieces you discussed. Eva is an incredible painting!
Lord have mercy on Jim and every child of the Heavenly Father hallelujah amen
I love that Jim Carrey is throwing some color in his life.🎉
Everyone loves the funny guys. Look at them. They are damaged. Pretending to be someone else constantly we are seeing is detrimental to the persons mental health.
Personally don’t care for his comedy… but am intrigued by this deep side of him as a fellow artist. Love and Light. We are all One.
I had no idea he even created any art, but my god! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. This some truly vivid and bold work, beyond just the colors chosen to create the image. They do seem to have a momentum to them that the longer you look the more you get pulled into it. Wow!!!!
him being in tht movie eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is so sentimental to me frfr so seeing him as an artists is wow
Thank you for sharing the amazing art of Evan Foster. 🎨
Jim Carrey ❤
He's a very compelling
He loves color.
I particularly felt the immensity of Jim Carrey's artistic depth in his spoken word colab with The Weeknd, entitled: "Phantom Regret"
He a genius His best has yet to come
I haven’t read through all the comments but electric Jesus is beautiful I’m not religious but I love how he used colors that were like heat signatures even if unintentional
Beautiful video my friend. Thank you so much.
Jim and his friend are truly in a world known only to them. Here you see them pass a cigarette to each other, only there is no cigarette. Jims friend later smokes it and actually flicks the ashes, again there was nothing in his hand. Jim Styles his hair with an imaginary comb. He beckons to friends in the room that only he can see. There is fear in the eyes of both boys and major anxiety. Motor coordination skills are almost completely gone.
I gave up caring whether or not people get weirded out over things I say or do. I'm happier now than I've ever been.
Thankyou! ❤
Evan Foster's art at the end speaks to me. That first painting of his remimds me of how it feels to get a migraine. It really does feel like your brain is screaming at you
Jim Carrey is a verry inspiring person, I appreciate all the things he's done.
My favorite ❤
I’ve always been fine with JC no matter what “phase” he was in. He is a great American who has offered the country countless amounts of content to consume. My gratitude
bless to have someone like this still in this world ilyjimmy
I can’t believe he’s not already renounced as a (traditional canvas) artist! These move me to tears
Wow, just wow.
Acting and interpretive comedian, one of the best ...filosofy and art...
much better, two thumbs up for Mr. Jim Carrey...!!
I knew he did art and saw some of his work when he outed himself as a painter but first time i watch any video review about it. I think it suits him well.
One artist I started looking into is M.C. Escher. He does a lot more clever things than just stairs that go in crazy directions. Man was a geometrical genius.
Thank you
No one journey is alike. His unique experience is his own masterpiece of life. Thank you for sharing a part of your journey. I love these beautiful & soulful stories/art, Jim Carrey. Thank You!
Oh man, Heart Upon Re-Entry was powerful. Experiencing life after the loss of a relationship with my ex fiancee and this piece definitely hit home
I don't know if anyone noticed, but the painting, "Hooray.." , the red lines going through the bodies all match one to the next. CONNECTION.
thats the flame of Knowledge
I love Heart Upon Reentry
He seems to be looking in the mirror at the child within, note the EXIT... Poynionte! 😍
Marvelous…another creative and philosophical side of JIM…Fantastic..
Wow, I have heard Jim painted but never gave it a real look. Quite fascinating.
His art is beautiful and thought provoking and some people thought it was a gimmick but he is an artist....i love his usage of neons and dark colors
Just WOW
Carrey is the hero of my youth
JC is amazing!
I think the concept of being seen, of being understood, being valued and dignified is such an important thing for us humans and is truly fascinating. Being seen for who we are and being told we are good enough and believing it and accepting it is all we really want. I think it’s the absolute goal for most people. It is for me at least.
As an artist myself I see not only is he quite a good artist, but I read his quotes everywhere which are poetic and insightful. I’m impressed with this man!
ThankS, Love it
I appreciate Jim's thoughts about Bubba (my nickname for Jesus). Jesus is my favorite being. He is electric to me. All-powerful. Funny. Loving. Limitless. All-seeing. The greatest healer I have ever known. He has healed me of many addictions and health issues. He has brought me back from the dead many times. He has saved my pets. Friends. Family. He can be anywhere at anytime. WHAT is not to LOVE about Christ?! I grew up very isolated in the woods and had no idea WHO HE was/is. Gradually I began to hear talk about Him over time. My life eventually became a mess. I was lost. It occurred to me to call out and see if He even existed. He allowed me to connect with Him. That moment as a 29 yr old changed my life for the better forever. He is my EVERYONE. He is the source of my love, my humor and my life. So glad that Jim paints his feelings about Bubba. I, as an artist, do also. He is my favorite subject. Endless inspiration about Him.😍🥰😇

"A beautiful Mind.” - Love you Jim ❤️🩹
I was very excited to see this in my notifications. I adore Jim. Thank you for this wonderful video!
This is so cool! I watched this with my Mom and both of us had no idea he's an artist! It makes me wish I could have a conversation with him. Not because he's the famous Jim Carrey...because I wanna talk about art with him as a fellow human. This was awesome!
Im happy for Mr. Carrey and his Hero's Journey.
I personally think we all have artistic potential and even when we don't understand or even like some works, it's good for us to create something, go thru the process. I can't draw or paint but it's still a good way to get a thought out, or direct a feeling. I like that here, a film actor has stepped into a completely different field which makes me hopeful that some of us, skilled or not, might want to try out the creative process.
I Knew He Was A Starseed ❤️🌈🫶🏻✨
I absolutely love this man. Since I was a young girl and first saw him on mad TV, I was just mesmerized by him. And as I grew, he did as well. He's not perfect no person is. I enjoy when he talks and the thoughtful and explored thoughts he says. I'm not one of those crazy tabloid/obsessive person of him, but I've seen everything that he's done. Movies, books, interviews, arts, etc. Thanks so much for showcasing him on your channel. It was much appreciated ❤
If anyone hasn’t, check out his art mini-doc ‘I Needed Color.’
Also, Blind Dweller, could you please cover Clive Barker’s work? 🥺
This is absolutely fantastic!❤
Depression is no excuse to give the gift that keeps on giving
Jim Carrey has a lot of different talents and an esoteric philosophy, I'm a huge fan of his. The Grinch and the movie he made about Andy Kaufman are my favorites. He should have gotten the Oscar for the Kaufman movie.
What a well rounded amazing human being he is. I hope all his moments he is experiencing are good and fruitful.
That depressed interview he did kinda hit me hard. Never seen it that way ever. Deep rest.. I'll definitely be using that.
Perhaps the return of the child in a child amidst the chaos the return of innocence in the back room for the ego. Hello Eva!
Excellent paintings❤ ❤❤❤
Really cool. Great video and understanding of his work. I see the heartfelt aspect of his art. Really enjoyed this video. 👌
LO QUE HACE..ALUCINAR CON HONGUITOS..Y TECITOS DE FLORES...
Just subscribed ! I'm very excited ❤
I am done running away It is time for me to be who I really am THE HERO 😌♥️ just one ✨
Life changing - Jim rocks.
I interpret Eva as representing innocence. The world around Eva is messy and unclear, but the happy yellows and wonderous eyes show the pureness and love that children and babies have.
I can't say that's for certain what he was going for, but that's the amazing thing about art. Eye of the beholder and all that.
I have loved Mr Carrey since his days on the Wayan family tv show "In Living Color" in the late 80s. I love both his serious and comedic movies. He's a massive personality and an incredible artist with a beautiful heart and soul. God bless him always. ❤
I loved this vid. Thank you for posting it and for allowing us to learn even more about Jim. 💐💞🙏🏽
Jim Carrey IS the best.
I have linked your channel in the resource page of my Art Appreciation and Studio Art courses. I try to normalize the connection of mental illness and creative expression, as well as the benefit of art as a therapy for both the observer and the creator. I shared your Andrew Wyeth video in my class connect sessions and allow my students to use your videos as a contextual reference in their art analysis assignments and research projects. So far students have used videos on Louis Wain, Jon Sarkin, and Kim Noble. Thank you for your focus on these artists.
Thank you ! I love to see people sharing and comenting Jim Carrey’s artworks ! I’ve been loving Jim Carrey’s paintings since I discovered them and I find fascinating that someone so famous for his acting can be so unknown for his paintings… I’m so fond of what he does, probably because I too need color to conjure rage, anger and depression. He moves me…
PS : just discovered your Channel and I find it really nice I like your « unfamous » artists choices and researches. Very well done ! Bravo !
Many years ago, when Jim Carrey started to do more serious roles I recognized there was a much deeper person within him, from the slight pause in his words as he spoke. The Artist in me saw that in him. I hoped one day, between moments of his busy life, he would pick up a paintbrush, and just let it out on canvas. My gut instinct tells me he is exploring creation by the subject matter in his canvases. So much thought in the gaze looking at his brushstrokes as he paints. He is calm and still, trusting the process of the soul, heart, mind, and hand connection to canvas. He paints freely, without the compromise of commercialism most Artist fall victim to, including myself. Because of that freedom, he can let it out. I believe Jim Carrey, will be known in the future more as an important Art/Painter in history than he was as an Actor/Comedian. He is the one Artist I would love to meet one day in this world full of Artists I could. Thank you for your Video. It is very thought-provoking and a great record in development of Jim Carrey as an Artist.
I am so artistically intrigued with the idea of Jim Carrey liking an image I created, that I am filled with insane curiosity of which ones they are. Please contact me with more information of what you require.
Would love to see John Frusciante, guitar player for the Red Hot Chili Peppers!♡
Fascinating.
Jim is the man.
Fascinating. Loved this.
Many talented entertainers are fascinating visual artists.
My favorite was probably "Bumblebee Tuna", the way he incorporated his bloodied mementos skillfully lifted from Matthew Broderick's trailer and expired boxes of manic panic!™ Hair dye Michel Gondry had presented as props on Eternal Sunshine... Bloody brilliant
His art is HAIR RAISING!!!
Beautiful art work
