Ganondorf, reincarnated god of evil: needs 7 years to take over the world
Some random mask: almost blows up The world in 3 days
Destruction is always quicker than construction. Ganondorf was building a new Kingdom of Evil.
Ya ganondorf is the main antagonist of zelda, theres not any other zelda villain stronger than him
7 Years? That's how long it's said the Anti-Christ will have to rule the world before the second coming of Jesus. LoZ was originally Christian based too, interesting.
@@BurntFossil Seven years of tribulation for Ganondorf...
Does that mean that three days is a reference to Christ's resurrection?
Link is dead confirmed.
@@shreddman8704 Now that is interesting, I didn't think about the three days. So, Link could be dead and the three days in Termina could be his resurrection? Kind of thing.
Giant tentacle monster that moonwalks? I can handle that.
Except that bloodcurling shriek it lets out when struck. FUCK. THAT.
Lol
ugh, everything you just said, yes DX
Out of all of them, I prefer Majora's Incarnation. I love how it doesn't take the fight seriously (it moonwalks, does the ballerina, jumps around runs around Link while laughing) but is still powerful. Sometimes, it's even unpredictable. You get constantly annoyed of him dancing instead of fighting and think he won't pose a threat when WHAM he stops and blasts you without even leaving you a chance to break free. Also, the music is very creepy and silly at the same time, it also proves that a final boss battle theme doesn't have to be intense to add suspense.
God's child ye
Typical
God's child it shows how playful yet cocky Majora can be. He clearly doesn’t see Link as a threat and is fooling around. It’s like how Deadpool just breakdances with Task Master Since Task Master can’t predict his moves.
chaotic creature
Perfect interpretation!
The three phases of majora's mask: Sadness, Madness and Wrath
Or Sadness, Madness and Fury
Would explain, lol, the first, a mask, then formed into a dancing maniac, it creeped me out, atatatatata HO, [then shoots out lightning balls, super effective, dead] and then, wiping you with its, well, lets just say, whips, not tentacles... [shivers]
stages of acceptance?
Betooie Torres actually those are the locations you go through:
Clock town-Denial
Woodfall-Anger
Snowhead-Bargaining
Great Bay-Depression
Ikana valley-acceptance
Kimberly Maakestad nice game theory
lol. All the people who got the masks so they could defeat Majora as Deity Link. And I just ran around with the Bunny Hood.
I killed Majora using the bare minimum (besides the Gilded sword, that was too good to give up)
Did it with 3 hearts and Kokiri sword. Way more fun
I actually beat it without the FD Mask, granted I used Chateau Romani but still it was difficult
i did it all with the zora mask
@@pamelaibanez4608 Yeah that can be a real challenge specially since getting attacked with the heat beam is an instant void out.
I've always seen this fight as a metaphor for a bully, or a spoiled child. When Link goes to the moon there are 4 children playing in circles, and then the kid with the Majora mask sits there, like an outcast. None of the other kids want to play with him. Link, after having grown through his travels approaches the kid and asks him to play, but Majora acts as if he is in control. Mocks Link for his ''weak masks'', but will lend him a mask if Link has managed to find every mask and give them to everyone else.
The first fight is a facade, Majora is treating Link like he is beneath him. Intimidating music, and the other 4 masks to join in, singling Link out as the victim. But Link isn't just some child anymore, and isn't brought down by Majora and his gang. I think it's important that this fight comprises of only MASKS and none of them have a true body underneath it, masks are generally there to hide the face underneath.
Then he reverts. Normally when you call a bully or a child out on their bad behavior, they put up a facade. ''Hey man it was just a joke lol!'' ''Cmon is it really that big of a deal?''. He drops the facade of power and turns himself into a bumbling fool, as if he's trying to illicit Links pity, but Link isn't having any of it. We start to see human parts emerge from Majoras Mask, because his facade is starting to become undone and the mask is losing it's ability to hide him for what he really is.
Finally we see him for what he really is. He lashes out towards Link without any restraint, far different from the ominous flying mask of power, it's more personal and his childishness is no longer being held back. If you've ever had a child before you've probably had to deal with them doing this when they refuse to admit they're at fault for something. In this stage we see an actual face grow out of the mask, because he's no longer hiding anything anymore. This is Majora at his most base and true sense, a spoiled bratty child angry at having his power taken away from him.
I think the Fierce Diety mask is what Majora sees Link as, none of his childish tricks are working on him, to Majora he seems like a scary adult, a parent, scolding him for his wrongdoing and he fears it. If you think about it, the Skull Kid went through something similar to Link. He was alone and never had any friends, but he eventually had some and betrayed their trust in him. But the Skull Kid finally learns to accept responsibility for what he did and learns to move on, just as Link learns to move on from his quest to find Navi again. Link and the Skull Kid were both outcasts with no friends, and if Link took a wrong turn he might have ended up just like the Skull Kid. Any kid could end up like him in real life really.
You write very well and I agree entirely with what you said.
Really cool interpretation man, solid stuff :D
Such a well thought interpretation, props to you!
Super underrated comment!
I just love to listen to such a music and reading such scary, but interesting comments!
Imagine if Zant got this mask and put it on.

+HeliosVenomMage64 well... more like Majora's Nope
+HeliosVenomMage64 or Girahim
Nanni Narayanan If Link gets rekt, then shit, Zant's gonna screw some Midna while Ganondorf gets some of that Zelda.
I think what I love most about Majora as a character is how mysterious he is. Ganon is the reincarnation of an ancient demon king, and we get to see his whole backstory and form some level of understanding with him. Majora, on the other hand, just shows up, goes crazy, and just kind of disappears. And yet, is single, brief appearance, left enough of an impact to be remembered and theorized about.
It's theorized that the Ancient Tribe that revered and used the mask in rituals were the Twili in Twilight Princess.
The first phase (Majora's Mask) sounds so evil... Which is why I love this boss so much. Emotionless and totally psychotic, Majora is the most menacing Zelda villain to me.
I agree
They tried to do that again with Zant but *ahem* that didn't work out so well.
Absolutely
HylianLegacy4245 Which is why be was disappointing. He went from one of the coolest characters of the Zelda series to a pathetic baby.
***** I just don't feel it was executed very well. You cant just turn like that even with power. It's like nintendo just said "fuck it" and threw random crap at you for the hell of it. That's one thing they did better with Ghirahim. If they at least let on that Zant was a bit strange it would have been much more effective.
Everything about Majora is daunting. It's design, it's moon, it's servants, and even it's music have "EVIL" written all over it.
RED Engineer and it still calls you the bad guy.
@@nopressure6986 well technically if you go into the manga
I'm sure majora just does that so you can put it out of its suffering again
I thinks majora twisted way of thinking that he isn't he doing anything wrong. It clearly thinks that destroying world is ok.
It makes sense since the mask cant even understand emotion and resorts to the malicious side of Skull Kid that was portrayed when he wore Majora
From their point of view we could be evil, but I think it's more complicated than that. I think Majora can't remember themselves entirely, and that they've got dissociative identity disorder. They are a very long lived type of entity. Either a demon/oni, or perhaps a deity even. They maybe have been worshipped and loved as a deity of destruction, and/or death, but they have a personality that also enjoys games and dance... perhaps they lost friends, family, a lover, worshippers beyond counting...perhaps they can't remember anything much from that time, and are now just lashing out at everything. Especially people who are bonded to someone or something else. Notice that? All of Majoras most aggressive acts are against people who have the one thing they don't have, and want the most: love and friendship.

This theme and Zants theme are probably the best ones out of all the franchise. In Tp, you have zant, who’s losing his mind and throwing everything he has at you to try and kill you. He’s desperate. And in Majora’s Mask, Marjora is just this terrifying force of nature that dances around but will most definitely destroy you. They’re themes are amazing
Definitely the most unsettling boss in the entire franchise, and my all-time favorite Zelda boss for that exact reason. I've been playing this game for 15 years now (that's over half my life, people!), and I _still_ don't know how to react to this guy. Especially Majora's Incarnation, and mean, what the _ASS_ is going on with that thing??

The sad part is, this fight was more dificult than Ganondorf and Ganon....and they were supposed to be the incarnations of evil....
Bullshit it was. Deity mask, dead in like three hits. And that's the canon ending.
+Nibble you are pretty freaking awesome if you dont use the mask. I say, screw canon, I do what I WANT!
Zora Link. 'nuff said.
Ganondorf only gave the evil form, but in binding it into a mortal soul it was weakened. Therefore Ganon is nowhere near as powerful as the darkness from Skyward Sword. I've heard theories that Because it was bound into a mortal form, it lost its ability to absorb the evil within the world, thus other proxys were born out of that darkness, like Vaati and Majora.
i find it really sad that ive died to majoras incarnation more than ive died in all of oot

Yeah me too. I collected all masks but 2, the fierce deity mask and the one you get for helping those two idiots get married. Haha. I could never figure out to get that one.
ugh that mask was SUCH a pain in the ass, that one took me FOREVER
Lukethis I forgot the exact steps to getting it i know the sidequest for it uses up all your days.
Yeah, I think the quest is too OP to do. =[
Saame. What sucks is that I didn't get to see the entire credits. (If you don't have the certain mask for the certain cutscene on the credits, you just see a picture of the Mask spinning.)
1st form is the 1st day: Worried, but only because you remember it's only 3 days (1 hour).
2nd form is the 2nd day: You realize that the first day wasn't as bad so you feel as if you can frolic around.
3rd form is the 3rd day: Wanting to get things done fast, everything seems to be intensified by the fact you only have 1 day, making the stakes way higher.
Dawn of a new day: It's just a mask...
Music opinions:
Majora's Mask: Your typical Phase 1 battle theme. For some reason, this reminds me of Solaris Phase 1, but that's just me.
Majora's Incarnation: ...What the fuck is going on with anything in this battle?
Majora's Wrath: Holy shit, that's what I call intense! This is easily the most intimidating theme in the game, and would also be my number one pick for top ten final boss themes.
I hate majoras incarnation when i was a kid id always give me a creppy and scary felling like its going to jump out and kill link

Incarnation is the most unsettling for me. I just find it weird that Majora's Mask would go from such a powerful and dark theme to a slightly more mischevious but equally dark tone just like that. It's just unerving and makes me feel uncomfortable.
majora's mask: menacing as fuck
majora's wrath: intense
majora's incarnation:
*HEE HEE*
There are many ways to interpret this boss, here is one of them: Majora's mask:the warning of the Apocalypse, Majora's Incarnation:The hype before the apocalypse, Majora's Wrath:The planet on the verge of destruction.
The harmony in this is insanely good from a theory prospective
tbh majoras Incarnation was scariest for me, reminds me of a possessed demon child...
Which definitely makes it the darkest Zelda game out there.
Daniel Stebbing No, TP is the darkest. MM is the creepiest tho, like "Dafuq-Creepy"...
Maximilian Stepien
I know TP has a lot of dark themes for a Zelda game, but just think about it. Firstly, the deaths. The Deku Butler's son, Darmani, and Mikau are all people who DIED (One of them being EXTREMLY tragic.) and theyget turned into masks by putting their souls and you can now be a dead person! YAY! Also Majora is a Horrifying creature and a bunch of other stuff. Yeah... TP can't compete with that.
Daniel Stebbing Twilight Princess is more of an emotional game, and it was more creepy than Majoras Mask. Majoras Mask is more of an eerie, anxiety inducing kind of game.
Daniel Stebbing Feel free to disagree, I'm just putting in my 2 cents.

Majackson's Mask: Possesses the bodies of children so he can play.
Majackson's Incarnation: Partial Manifestation. Capable of performing the moon walk.

Majora is by far the most daunting and threatening enemy in all of zelda. It gives me the creeps just thinking about how the evil demon spirit came to fruition. Whilst ganondorf and all the others are living breathing beings majora is an evil shadow being that came to be through milennia of hexing and rituals. Whatever it is it isnt of this world and wherever it came from must be the most dark and sinister place ever. It is so dark and insidious that just looking into its eyes makes me feel uneasy. He is also by far the most powerful zelda enemy, no other enemy is strong enough to destroy the world like he almost did.
Exactly. That's what makes Majora's Mask such an effective and scary villain. It did all the stuff it did (cursing Kafei, blocking Romani Ranch, bringing the moon down, etc.) because it found it fun. Majora's Mask gets its jollies by making other people suffer.
The sounds they used for Incarnation and Wrath were terrifying when I played through this game for the first time.

I love the sinister piano playing in the first phase, bone chilling
Oh dear lord this fight. I need to play this again, but I cannnnn't cause MM 3D is set for release soon, urg.
So, about these tracks, this use of motif... aaaah I love it. The first form's mysterious, threatening, near eerie feeling, complimented by structured dynamic fluctuations, especially in the established "threat" piano riff at around 1:30 and the use of a similar line coming in occasionally, albeit much higher in pitch, and the low percussion looming behind the melody truly convey the needed threat and uncertainty here.
The second form all but abandons melody, the tool by which so many read their music, and instead opts for the rhythmic route, incorporating elements of glitchpop with a traditionalist instrumentation that occasionally becomes syncopated. This created a wholly unsettling experience.
And the third, SNARE DRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM. CAUSE WAR IS FIGHT-EY AND SNARE IS WAR-EY.
Nah, honestly, while not quite as interesting to me, Wrath's theme is a pretty wonderful culmination of the previous ideas. It takes the eerie threat and removes any uncertainty left. The assault of percussion, the use of directly confrontational harmony in sharp horns, the aggressive incorporation of the established battle theme, really the best word for it is a militarization of ideas through sound. You will die here.
Unless of course you got all the masks and did the happy mask kids' challenges. Then you kill this guy in seconds. But I guess that's the "demonic power" it's supposed to have. The power to destroy fun >.>

Majora's mask: a spirit that has no empathy, no feelings, only thirst for destruction, chaos, not to mention the mask has the sprit of a powerful demon. It's crazy in an amazing way how three phases of a boss says so much about a demon's spirit and morals. This mask thinks of everything as a game. To the mask, killing, taking away innocent lives, messing up they're lives is FUN. The artists made this game such a masterpiece by conveying something through a simple work of art. Majora's mask is so chilling because it conveys horror in such a simple and effective way. My favorite zelda game of all time!

Majoras incarnation be like "ohhhhhmmmmphh oooommmphhhh Ahhh ahh!" While you just stand there and wonder what drugs the creators were on when making this.
Majora is terrifying simply because of its pure maniacal chaotic nature. It doesn't want anything but DESTRUCTION AND TO MAKE ITSELF LAUGH. Unlike the other big bads in Zelda history, there's usually some endgame, world domination, Tri force, etc. Majora.... There isn't. You cant reason with it, negotiate, beg, plead, prove value, it simply doesn't care...
The main villain from Echoes of Wisdom is the exact same btw. Not spoiling who it is though.
I want the Majoras Mask and i don´t mean the game
Well then, let's get link and a ocarina back here...
SlenderMCDewott I have a sky blue ocarina. Is that enough?
yes
SlenderMCDewott And it's not fake. I once played the Sonata of Awakening, the Song of Time, even the Song of Healing and Saria's Song. And saria's song slowed down too (Unhealing).

Instead of using fierce Diety, why don't you pick up a bow and Zora's mask instead?
Yeah Senzo I did that my first run. but my 2nd I wanted to see how OP fierce diety was. that was the first time I had ever been so surprised
I normally fight him as just Link, he's surprisingly easy if you have a strategy. My record for beating him is about a minute and a half.
Yeah Senzo i like using the fierce diety since in the manga link uses it and i find to be a tradiotion of mine to use only on his wrath more not incarnation or mask form
I did that, well, I only use the Zora´s Mask and a bottle of Chateau Romani (for the magic) in all the battle from the beginning, nothing more.
i only use light arrows and the sword
The 3 phases perfectly make up the personality traits of the spirit in the mask.
Phase 1 is mysterious/intimidating
Phase 2 is insane/childish
Phase 3 temperamental/vengeful
And the scariest part about all 3 phases is this is literally what a child becomes when it’s been spoiled to the point of no return
Because nothing is more crueler than a child
The mask did stuff according to the skull kid personality which is a prankster.
So all the shit he has done were for "fun".
Just imagine what he would do on the face of someone truly evil.
The thing I like with this battle is that it starts out kinda slow, then the remains make things a bit tougher, but then Majora switches to its incarnation, which really speeds things up! Majora's Wrath is the rely challenge, especially if you run out of arrows!
Majoras incarnation reminds me of that heart in adventure time that got the body to impress princess bubblegum

I love those more-than-two-phased bosses in Zelda. Majora's Mask, Zant, Ganondorf, they're just so freakin' epic!
Incarnation's theme really closely correlates to Majora's lore. Majora was actually a demon who was sent to destroy everything in the world. But after a while, an adventurer talked to Majora and found out that Majora just wanted to die and had basically given up. But Majora was immune to suicide so the adventurer played his drums and Majora started to dance uncontrollably, then it died of exhaustion. Then the adventurer played the song of healing and Majora's soul was sucked into a mask.
I just recently mastered this game on Retro Achievements and by far one of the most fun achievements in the set had to be the one that requires you to beat the entire final boss without using masks or taking damage. I usually just facetank Majora with Fierce Deity and take him down in seconds, but actually having to plan strategies around each phase was a great experience and made me realize just how nuanced these fights are.
Majora's Wrath, though, can be an absolute pain with how quick some of his attacks are.
I will always love how mad this thing gets.
3:39 Resumen: Las trompetas le dan un toque épico 0W0!!!
Majora’s Mask: manipulative and intelligent
Majora’s Incarnation: chaotic and mocking
Majora’s Wrath: Insane, wise, and furious
Absolutely love the music particular the second form
this brings back so much memories...
The them of Majora's Incarnstion just seems to incite a feeling of panic everytime I listen to it and always makes the hairs on the back of neck stand up
