I began diagnosing ASD in 2004 and utilizing neurofeedback ever since for individuals on the spectrum as well as those with multiple chronic illnesses and some of the symptoms . It has always helped. When indicated advanced biomedical interventions are incorporated into the entire treatment plan along with knowledgeably sequenced additional interventions appropriate to the individual with sufficient consistency and time, it is entirely possible for recover almost all autistic children and some adults. In my experience, pharmaceuticals have rarely been useful for any long term benefit, and with children, they tend to be quite risky for a variety of reasons.
My son is receiving neurofeedback for 4 years and he has improves 75% in showing affection, communication and behavior, to him is fun because he plays a spaceship game, he will move the ships with his mind. His brain is getting a training to process information on the right direction, otherwise the ship will not move. Now we are working on spelling and after a year his spelling has improved.
ah, the drumming is actually part of the feedback game that he's watching. The volume of the game sound actually gets louder and softer with the feedback signal -- but not ideal for filming a client and acquiring good audio
The practitioners see how much hemodynamic activity there is at the parts of the brain responsible for controlling emotions through various brain scans (fMRI or EEG or both combined). In this sense it can be quantified. Of course... the magnitude of emotions being felt cannot be quantified in this sense :P
My brother was a sceptic and he has autism but he is super high functioning Aspergers but he went because he was super depressed and had intrusive thoughts but it got rid of his depression completely, he raves about it now.
So, how much do it cost and where do we go? for my 10 yr old twin boys both have autism, sensory, and expressive/receptive language disorders. We are in Pennsylvania.
There are many types of neurofeedback, some are certainly better than others, especially for ASD. There is a provider directory here -- I recommend interviewing a few providers. www.eegdirectory.com
Even if you dont have autism this does help get rid of toxins for you. My son is 4 and can read count over 100 gives eye contact, asks some questions. He still isnt potty trained which hase proven to be quit hard
I never should have used Neurofeedback therapy. I eliminated most of my depression symptoms but at the cost of making my Aspergers worse. I hate this shit.
@ Taylor Humphrey, can you elaborate for me? My son has Asperger's and suffers from depression as well. He is adolescent. I don't know how to help him. He doesn't want meds. He's 18. Would appreciate your input.

Neurofeedback is the future of treatment for many things controlled by the brain.
I did it myself and for my 5 sons.

i know nothing but quantifiable values aren't unimaginary, EEG scans are a flurry of numbers, graphs and a simple laptop
How much does this cost and where would someone go to have it done? I am a skeptic and would like to try it for my son and see if it really works.

How expensive are the sessions ?
It really depends where you are, who is providing the sessions, and what type of sessions they offer.
