Havingwatched the richaed burton wagner film when the swan sails across the lake I have been mesmerised by this beautiful music so different to the normasl loud thunderush wagner probably the greatest combination of violin and horns and voice I have ever heard simply puts hairs on your back to stand up.

It took me a moment to realise why everyone on stage was permitted to look at the grail. Then I realised only Perceval and Cundrie are allowed to touch it.
@@MikeCarvin Technically, if I can mansplain- Perceval was never allowed to touch it either in the original Arthurian legend, because of his affair with the fisher kings' daughter. He was permitted to see it under a cloth. The only Arthurian knight allowed to see it unveiled was Galahad, who was pure of heart, though even he was not allowed to touch it. I wonder why there was no Wagner about the round table? Parsifal is its' own world, inspired by Arthurian legends and myths, but mostly invented by Wagner. I guess that's the point? 🍷

I like how in this version the woman & man (Parsifal) hold up the Grail together with a possible reference to the Gnostic Sophia or Eve from Genesis.

Well Kundry was not allowed to touch it. She's supposed to die right there instead of assisting Parsifal and kneeling down afterwards.
