Do you have any ideas to find where air may be getting into a system? I have an exterior pump 😑 it gets airlocked after running for about 5 hours. Thanks for your videos!
Do you use PVC pipe for all your pond builds? Am wondering if the 10cm/per metre head height is specific to that, and/or specific to pipe diameter. I'm planning on using 25mm or 32mm anti kink pond tube in my build to start off with, at least until I have a rigid idea of where things will be positioned long term.
I’ve use both flex and pvc. No matter which you use there will be some kind of friction that will add to the overall “head”. I just add the 10cm per metre as a quick guide. The bigger the pipe the less friction. There are online calculators that will calculate the head height for you, it’s quite fun seeing how the different diameters change the overall head height.
@@Ozponds yeah it's pretty interesting! I'm about to upgrade my pump to one I can put inline for easier maintenance, and while I'm at it I was going to grab one at the top end of recommended flow rate for my pond capacity as I've got some turtles that make a huge old mess of the water. So I should probably have a look at recommended tube/pipe diameters for the flow. What pipe diameters are you using on your pumps above 1000l/h, and specifically around 3000l/h if you've got that? I'm also as a result back to the drawing board on my bog filter, I may double or triple its capacity to account for higher flow rate so it still has a 5 minute settle/flow, and also divert some flow into a decorative spitter to balance the load further.
I'm literally going through all the videos on this channel as I put my design together lol. You've thought of everything!
That makes me so happy Benny. I hope your pond turns out awesome! 👍

Not sure with exterior pumps I only have submersibles.

25mm would be fine but if you were doing a really long run could up it to 32mm. And yes never hurts to oversized the filter 👍
