Its refreshing to see an angler who is humble enough to state that "there are no hard and fast rules". Contrary to so many self confessed experts ou there ...
Thanks for the video. We struggled to find any decent fish 11 miles out from Plymouth when there was loads of Tuna around. How much further out did you go to try and avoid them ? Interesting about using mackerel feathers first over a wreck and hadn't thought about drifting with baits so any more info on this would be helpful ? Thanks for the screen shot of the FF over a wreck as I'm not always sure we are over a wreck when in deep water as the image is not great.
I was a similar distance out to you mate with tuna still around but not in big numbers. I don’t normally anchor so I will try a bait on the drift but it will normally only work on the slackest of tides without too much wind drift. Tight lines 🎣🎣🤞🤞
Would you ever consider giving location of these wrecks? I’m from Totnes and new to fishing on my boat, looking for advice on location of good wrecks etc thanks mate
No one will give locations away mate and give up their hard work for others to take advantage of or the commercial boys to then go and net it and wipe it out. Best advice is pay for navionics and the app wreck finder. They will show you literally hundreds of wrecks
What electronics have you got on board Alex. Really, you’ll need a plotter to find any feature, especially a wreck as they are obviously much smaller than a reef. If it’s within your budget and compatible with your plotter, relief shading is a game changer. If cost is an issue, you can get the app for £30. If you have this finding wrecks is a doddle, the key is then knowing when and how to fish them. This comes from experience, trial and error and hopefully you might pick up the odd tip from UA-cam channels! Tight lines👍👍🎣🎣
That wreck has a good food supply on it with all those pout. No reason why it wont have a lot of bigger predators like ling, conger, pollack etc. did you not try anchoring on it Rob and putting some bait down. They could of just not wanted it drifting on the day
I rarely anchor to be honest mate. I know it can be more productive but I don’t enjoy the process. I did hook into fish on the drift but my choice of terminal tackle let me down. I’ll be back to try with better tackle if we get slack tides and light winds 🤞👍👍🎣🎣

Thanks Harry, I’m certainly not an expert, just an enthusiastic amateur, sharing what I do! 👍👍🎣🎣
Excellent video as always - and enjoyed the post trip analysis. Hopefully another trip or two before the weather beats us all!

Any day fishing, is a good day, can't wait for the return trip 🎣🤓
That is very true John 🎣🎣👍👍
Hi what is the rod and reel you are using
Hi, it’s an Ugly Stik GX2, 12-20lb with a Penn Fathom 2-speed lever drag, 15 size👍
A good day . Did you try the toy snake yet
No needed late in the season. I find the problem is keeping them away in the early part of the season so I’ll have some ready for then 👍👍🎣🎣

Try the Medina wreck, large wreck and nice and close, very good for ling
I’ll give it a go thanks mate. I’ve been there but never fished it as it had divers on it the couple of times I’ve tried🎣🎣👍👍
thats a big scad alright.
Beast mate 👍👍🎣🎣
Not allowed to catch tuna ?
As far as I know, you need to be licensed to try for tuna, and invest in much heavier gear than I carry! 🎣🎣👍👍
@@fishingsalcombe So what happens if you accidently hook one and manage to land it ?
Throw it back or keep it ?🤔
Not sure to be honest mate. I think you might have a job convincing DEFRA that you accidentally hooked into and landed a 500lb tuna 🤣🤣
