Yea Jerry’s right, the boyfriend says in the manga in the first chapter that the spiral doesn’t effect him because he leaves town bc he goes to another school, that’s why you don’t see him at his girl’s school!
It also affects him, he says so.
The difference is that affects him less and he notices better the influence because he gets out of town everyday
Everybody in the town is already affected by the spiral and just don't know it yet. That's why bodies burned in different city have spiral smoke, but only when people from this town are cremated.

It’s a shame the director and the studio were different than from episode 1. The animation is noticeably weaker, although I still loved the episode. Whoever were the higher ups that decided this should be rushed out or released this way or no Uzumaki at all shouldn’t have their job.
Y tf did they change after ep 1? So does that mean the last 2 eps r gonna be this low quality?

Suoichi and kirie are both cursed by the sprials. Suoichi everytime he mentions a spiral or notice that someone around him is cursed by it and he has a idea of trying to him them or realizing he has bad luck a whirlwind will follow him as you seen in the first episode.(Notice that the whirlwind only follows behind him? Kirie is the actual cursed by the spirals everytime she notices a new one or the idea of going to school everyday is a cycle can also be represented as an idea of a spiral.

yall should watch this in English tbh its better atleast for this story to actually understand the words coming out of their mouth and not reading it
The pacing in the adaptation was already weird, mixing so many of the victims in one (in the manga they had seperate stories for every victim of the spiral) I get that they only had 4 ep, tight schedule to get all the 19 chapters in. But come on both the snail, the couple, the hair, the jack in the box and even the fucking lighthouse, in one episode!! Haven't even finished the moms story, such a weird schedule.
But now they fumbled not only with pacing but the animation looks awful. I wouldn't mind it much if episode one was the same, but giving us false hope with an amazing first episode and then give us this, awful work for such a good horror story.
