Way to leave us hanging at the end of the video with: "Although it may cause alarm to have such a facility on the mainland, it may actually be safer." Then the video abruptly ends, with no reasons why it would be safer. The Plum Island bio-risk director only mentioned that they've been affected by hurricanes and other "bad sea conditions."
However, Kansas is affected by tornadoes, rainstorms and floods, like most of the country. How will the new center be safe from those and other hazards? When it opens to the press, let's hope that Bloomberg and other media will be there to report on it.
They probably don’t want to admit that this facility was never up to code and that stuff has been leaking out of here for years. Just look how decrepit it looks. Top secret aka zero oversight or accountability.

I work in biotech and I would absolutely leave everything on that island! Easier to contain if there was an outbreak versus literally the middle of the country.

Plum island is only 10 miles from Shelter island and around 20 from Lyme, Connecticut.
Fort Detrick is already on the mainland and there’s nothing safe about it.
