I just completed a fitting with all of these same drivers and some of the same shafts. I have similar club speed, ball speed, and distances as Jonah in this video, and the GT3 was also my clear winner! Such a good driver!
These are the videos we love! Very relatable guy coming in for a fitting that covers low to even high handicappers. Very jealous. Great work Ian and Mikey!
Good to see that a player being fitted retains the comfortable feeling with the club and has almost identical ball flight. So often see players coming from a fitting and when after a few poor driving rounds subconsciously they try to get the new club with it's different setting to reproduce the "old familier" result . And then the get pissed that all the money is wasted on something that ends up doing exactly the same thing.
Super stuff lads. I'm such a fan a viewer fittings. The process and trial / error is great to follow along with to the end results. 20 yards with the same predictable ball flight aint shabby!.
Love these videos. I did notice his swing speed was up 2.5-3 mph with the later drives which accounts for a chunk of the distance increase. Too often they seem to overlook that.
This video is awesome for me! I was similarly fit recently with the same concepts and principles. Original driver was Mavrik in10.5 on a VA nemesys 65x in 2020. My swing has since changes a lot and I would spin the crap out of the ball. New fitting was DarkSpeed LS in 8 on a Hzrdus Black 60S. With this new build I finally broke into the 170 ball speed plateau
I would think the Callaway AI Smoke Max 9 degree head with weight in heel and at D/+1, paired with a Ventus TR Red 60 Stiff would have given a little better numbers considering the cg location is slightly lower
I swear, sometimes the trackman numbers don't jive with the ball flight. That swing at 20:45, face was 1 degree open to path, strike was 3 mm toeside, angle of attack basically 0, yet the ball was a low draw? How is that possible? I can't believe the gear affect would win the battle in that swing.
Yeah that was just a straight pull if anything. Dude is consistently in to out with almost zero angle of attack. That ball is going out to right field all day..
The ball only had 68 rpm of left spin. It was a straight pull even if the visual looked like a draw. Also they have face to path selected which means the face was only open 1* relative to path. That combined with a 3mm toe strike equals a straight ball flight which it pretty well was Also on the gc quad (not trackman) it picks up strike location based off the metallic stickers (fiducials) you put on the club face. That strike could’ve been slightly more toe sided than shown based off where the stickers were placed
This is a class fitting. No stereotypes on you need this weight and flex or desired optimizer numbers. Guaranteed if it was a retail fitting he would be put into some 75g X stiff cause of his load and speed not a lighter stiff flex. Serious gains
Loved this video do you guys have any reviews or thoughts on the Denali blue shafts would love to see that in the process of pulling the trigger on a black ops driver with the Denali blue would love to hear what you guys think. Keep it up boys.
I totally agree on the slightly downward or flat angle of attack for higher swing speeds. I’m around 118-120 and when I focus on hitting up I end up just hitting a block fade versus straight or slight draw. With a 9 degree and higher swing speed you can still get 90-100 feet apex with a flat or even slightly downward attack angle
Yeah, but you’re definitely leaving 25-50 yds out there. Coming from someone else who swings ~120 mph, it’s way better to hit it 325 or 350 in the rough than 275 down the middle Would definitely recommend working on it since you can hit it off the tee >50% of the time on most courses
Curious about what ball was used for the fitting? was there any consideration given to putting him in say a left dash to knock down the spin? Great job as always!
You guys are phenomenal, I won't be able to come to canada anytime soon but if you're ever in upstate NY or doing virtual fittings I'll be the first person in line!
Hi Ian, Can a shaft/head combo at a certain swing weight help move path? I struggle with out to in with the driver as well, I did notice certain combos pushed his out to in to around 5+ degrees.
Looking for a quick bit of advice , play a tsr3 , my common miss is toe strike and I'm also a slicer , should I have my slider at t2 or h2 to lessen slice ?
I know it's a fitting video but it's still a little reminder for everyone that you don't need to drive it miles and miles to get to very low single figures. You just need to be more consistent.
@@lawbinson he established his 1.5 handicap with his old driver which carried 247 yards. That’s only 5 yards longer than my 4 hybrid. And I’m about a 10-11 handicap.

Nice! Almost to a T like my fit into 10° TSR3 with Tensei AV blue S 59g. Just a question. Why not try a 10° STD loft, A1, H2? Looks like there was still some space with regards to getting a slightly higher launch angle with similar spin? Is it purely start line? Because if you have a look at where the weight settings sit on the GT3, the H1 setting looks as if it's almost in the middle of the face more than anything, if compared to TSR3, where the settings are/look more accurately placed in relation to the face. Give this Gentleman a TSR3 in 10° A1, H2 and I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised with the result. But as is the way, newer must always be better. . . Right!

Wouldn’t a more tip stiff shaft help his inconsistency and also maybe a stiffer shaft in general? Just a question. I wasn’t understanding the use of a lightweight/stiff flex shaft in this test. Just a curiosity I am trying to come around on 😅
A softer tip will help close the face. Same can be said for a softer shaft in general. If you watch a swing in slow motion you will see the shaft bows in the direction of the ball (club head in front of handle) right before impact

Then, a blue profile in ai smoke… I feel like this swing screams 70 gram 6.0 hzrdus black or 60 gram 6.5 in 9* qi10 LS with heel weight in draw. Let him keep playing that little power fade. That would be more comparable to the gt3 with heel weight in h2. No heel weight in ai smoke to adjust.
I think your fitting is good, however he needs a lesson for his cut swing. Too much left to right. Also I would have him hit a 9.5 loft and face Angle a touch more left. You want him straight with length so he needs to correct his left to right cut and I think with the Titleist GT 3 will work great for him.
There are no 9.5 lofts out there. Also a lot of people would rather have some left to right shape versus a straight ball. It’s generally considered to be more predictable
The amount of "1.5 cap??", "his swing needs xxxxx", "that guy needs a lesson" keyboard warriors in these comments is laughable. Imagine being the kind of person who needs to anonymously criticize someone who just wants a cool fitting experience to improve his scores (and has the nuts to do it on You Tube). Grow up people.

@@ianfrasergolf curious question Ian, most of the heads you tested were the lower spin version, any reason you didn't try the Triple D vs the Max D? Thanks...
No fitting could fix his ball going right. He swing the ball out of his shoes, no surprise he's out to in with swing path... Work on your tempo then go get fit again, you'll get your 300 yards with a safe trajectory 😏
What are you on about. Jon rahm is a heavy loader, and has a quick transition. I suppose he should work on his tempo too eh? Also when did a low fade become an unsafe “trajectory”
Jonah is an incredibly consistent driver of the golf ball on the course. He very seldom hits a driver that’s gets him into trouble. He’s 260 in play all day. That makes the game a heck of a lot easier.
Low index players have different ways to score. I wish we would stop saying 1.5 HC when it’s an index. For example from the whites at my club a 1.5 index is a 4 HC and from the blues is a 5 HC just for context. Not knocking the 1.5 index as he’s in the less the 5% of golfers catagory. People think just because you're a low index player that you pure most of your shots, which is not the case as I know at a .8 index😂
@@ianfrasergolf 100% Agree. I have a 2.2 index, but my Arccos data shows that I drive like a 8 index (mostly due to distance), approach like a 3, and short game and putting of +3 or +4. Plenty of bombers at my club don't understand why they consistently lose to a guy who is 30-40 yards behind them. Silly game.
@@ianfrasergolfoh come onnnnn! 8° triple diamond turned down to 6° with a 20 gram in the front will do the trick lol In all seriousness, I prefer to hit a straight ball or fade off the tee. Ai Smoke Triple Diamond 9° all set standard loft and lie with a AV white 65 gram stiff shaft is what worked for me. Swing speed on the course cruises at 112. I can step on it and get to 118, but it’s been the best driver for that shot shape. Gets me out over 300 yards consistently with around 2500 spin. But I just picked up a brand new TSR3 9° with stock 1K black 65 gram stiff for $300 USD because I wanted to try and work a draw. Easy to get that turned over and worked well. Agree, you need a baseline to start. Well done!
How is what you're doing any different?
Would like to have seen GT2 with the heavy weight and heavier shaft to control strike rather than moving the GT3 head weight to support a heel strike.
Get fit by them....NEVER BUY FROM THEM. Private equity is squeezing this company, and that is quite obvious.
Love this video, however, im intrigued to know why you stayed with a stiff shaft with a clubhead speed around 110mph and didn't try an x stiff ?
Keep up the great content
If this guy's a 1.5 HDCP then my names Martha Stewart🤣🤣🤣
Why even have Mike on these videos? 😂
Good stuff guys !!! We need a Ronnie video for us slower guys
You can't fit yourself based on someone else's fitting
no Callaway head testing? any reason why?
14:07 they tried a Callaway.

We did hit Callaway Max D, perhaps it never made the final edit but we did hit Callaway.
@@ianfrasergolf curious question Ian, most of the heads you tested were the lower spin version, any reason you didn't try the Triple D vs the Max D? Thanks...
@@jimgoble6832 we did try the Max D and Triple Diamond is too fade biased
No love for mizunos 😢
Guys are really out here swinging as hard as they can and only getting 250yds out of driver.
Guy needs lessons way more than a driver
Almost 6° out to in with a low angle of attack is not going to get fixed with just a driver change... Ask me how I know 🤣
2nd
No fitting could fix his ball going right. He swing the ball out of his shoes, no surprise he's out to in with swing path... Work on your tempo then go get fit again, you'll get your 300 yards with a safe trajectory 😏
What are you on about. Jon rahm is a heavy loader, and has a quick transition. I suppose he should work on his tempo too eh?
Also when did a low fade become an unsafe “trajectory”
Surprised a 1.5 doesn’t have better / more consistent efficiency.
Jonah is an incredibly consistent driver of the golf ball on the course. He very seldom hits a driver that’s gets him into trouble. He’s 260 in play all day. That makes the game a heck of a lot easier.
@@ianfrasergolf makes sense. Wasn’t throwing hate or assuming the handicap was misleading, I was just genuinely surprised
This dude isn’t a 1.5! 4-7, maybe, 1.5, no chance.
Sorry, this guy is not a 1.5 HC.
need 95 mph swing videos......
1.5 HCP?
It's almost like there are other parts of the game besides driving that are involved in your established handicap...🥴
@@bigr2305👏🏼
I don’t understand why after seeing a small snippet of one persons game do people begin to doubt someone’s hcp. Makes no sense
Silly game.
First 👍🏻
Easy: a low spin driver so you can maximize distance.
Not quite that easy. Lol
Now depending on the course I have a driver I can take out and draw the ball or one I want to hit the fade.
