I'm so grateful that the worse stereotype about me (Irish) is that I drink, and while its hurtful because I struggle with addiction, holy crap its no where near horrific as some of the horrific other things in that stereotype video
Yk if he actually tried and made the videos the punchline it could be considered funny. Like offensive humor is big, especially right now (for whatever reason) and it can be funny. Something like Tim Minchin’s “Prejudice” or “Storm” is a perfect example of how shock humor can be good and super dark. Bo Burnham’ “K!ll yourself” is another. it’s for a point and it’s a joke, it’s not a thing that can be interpreted another way and that’s the point.
The entire joke is "Puerto Ricans are stinky" and "Mexicans breed like rabbits" and stuff like that... I don't see how you can make that decent. It's like being bullied at a playground as a kid and the bully just says later "I joke I joke haha you fucking loser, don't take it so seriously!" The songs you mentioned don't have actual hurtful ethnical slurs in them, they just play with the idea.
The only thing funny about Ray’s music is that he’s such an untalented musician, he needs to write the most offensive stuff he can think of or else no one will care.
That’s what I was thinking! Stereotypes in jokes are fine if either the stereotype isn’t a harmful one or the stereotype is the butt of the joke. But he just… stated stereotypes. Not endorsing them. Not making fun of them. Just listing them. Like is this a comedy song, or am I listening to someone reading a Wikipedia page?
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS 😭. I love South Park and they do stereotypes well. It's annoying to see people defend that shit of song because it's "a joke"

@@SomeName_AlsoHandlesSucc Incredibly jarring. It makes my nervous system pulse with the flashes, so my eyes blink along and I can’t talk until the flashing stops. I’ve got a condition called hemiplegic migraine, which causes paralysis in one side of the body before/during migraines. It looks pretty much like having a stroke where the left arm/leg/half of my face go limp. Flashing lights can trigger an episode and they’re not just painful but dangerous. It can make me unable to swallow or understand language and can even cause a coma. I can handle white flashing light just fine luckily but this was red on black and it’s no joke! On the upside I stopped hearing the song when the flashes came ☺️
@@SomeName_AlsoHandlesSucc Honestly I think it’s like a really hyped up version of reflexes most people have. Like blinking when someone claps in front of your face, you know? There's a lot of his stuff that didn't age particularly well (and the fact he never got massive trouble for transphobic techno is surprising as hell), but a few of them were just chill songs that weren't bad. The two new songs feel like they're trying way too hard though.
It seems like he didn't get in trouble for them because at the time people weren't as sensitive about it then as they are now among other topics. Right? I was hoping they would go that route with the comeback but it doesn’t seem like it. I guess I will listen to whatever song comes that isn’t nostalgia bait and see. But I don’t have much hope, didn’t even distance himself from the awful shit he made back then, which would at least be a start
Omg there's people actually saying that they're jokes and y'all are taking this too seriously. Just cause someone says something racist then says it's just a joke doesn't erase what they said, they're still perpetuating racist stereotypes. If he tried to make actual funny jokes maybe it would be better but it's really not funny. It's not funny and y'all's hould probably find funnier content creators to watch than RJW
Glossing over the fact that this is clearly from a different point in time when things were different, I still think the biggest issue is that, yes, you can touch on sensitive subjects like racism or crack dark jokes, but you have to do it _tastefully_ . Some kind of finesse and understanding of the subject is necessary. The fact that he actively reuploads these videos and the way he frames them (like he's relevant enough to get cancelled) only underlines how much he lacks said finesse. It kinda sucks that he had to do shit like The Stereotype Song or Transphobic Techno when Zombie Love Song, a rather innocuous and inoffensive song, is right there - it's nothing special but it did give me a kick of nostalgia when I listened to it again. It feels like a song written by a bunch of guys just having fun. The rest feels like very badly handled shock value content that aged like milk festering for ten years. And Orphan Tears part II... is somehow worse than what he put out a _decade_ ago. How?
i used to watch his older animations literally everyday i’ve got nostalgia for them but no way would i say they ARENT offensive. i’m nostalgic but i gotta recognize his videos were offensive as shit lol
Oh yeah, I was in like 6th grade when I started watching =3 and I watched YFM from its first upload and listened to the songs on /repeat/ as a kid so I have heavy nostalgia for them. I would NEVER show those songs to someone else though lmao they do have some songs that were legitimately good in the later releases (I still have a UA-cam rip of Complicated on my phone), I just wish they made more of that stuff instead
Same here. I used to watch them with a cousin of mine who I was super close with (maybe that's where I have all the nostalgia) but I genuinely didn't realise how awful it and RWJ is

I was like almost 18 watching RWJ cause I wasn't watching a lot of other channels I watched ALL his videos because it was a weird goal and they were just easy (like over 200 at the time, which is ridiculous) I thought he was alright, but I did listen to like 3 of his songs, tho I had no idea he had way more The dude jumped to Facebook doing the same type of humor and he's back doing it again The music isn't really that great, I know its just him having fun but it is boring. Everything he does is just boring, weird, toe over the "cancelled" line that older people like to do cause it makes them "edgy" when they say/do some weird shit just for the sake of a reaction and get mad when no one gives it to them Like someone said, he's most definitely still in 2009

It's like he suddenly became a boomer with how he's claiming he's gonna get cancelled. And because he's trying to use that to get attention, I think we should just collectively decide to ignore him. Maybe someday he'll figure it out.
he posted a video not too long ago where he defended blackface, but then deleted any comment that disagreed with him. like, the video had well over 500,000 views and had a least 2k comments. but i couldn't fibd a single comment disagreeing wih him except in the "recently commented" tab, but those comments got removed in like minutes of being posted. i think he's the type of guy who says he gets so much backlash, but the backlash he gets isn't like violent, it's just calling him an unfunny dick with bad opinions. he says these things to cause controversy but then when the controversy is justified, he silences anyone who disagrees with him. anything outside of the isacc butterfield strawman of the SJW holding cardboard signs that read "Cancel [BLANK]" is too much for them because they have to actually question themselves. they just want everybody to agree with them and the people who disagree with them to be presened as garbage pail kids stickers rather than a human being.
He first started out making lefty political content also the videos "defending black face" was actually just pointing out that the person doing the black face isn't from the United States which matters cause the history around black face isn't nearly as known in county's outside the US
@@Alivefortuneteller no, blackface is racist anywhere with a black minority. idk where this idea that blackface and racism in general is an america-only thing, but it isn't true. just because someone isn't american, it doesn't make the person who did the blackface less racist because it's racist in any part od the world. there is black face allll across europe, the worst being in the UK where we only JUST stopped using blackface and yellowface in film and television. so no, racism and racist imagery is not an america-only thing and white-majority countries have both blackface and vocal criticism of blackface. not being american is no excuse to shrug off racism.

It's wild to me that Hayloft even blew up in the first place. I remember way back when that album first came out and how that song was considered too weird for radio. I'm happy to see that success story for them. Not happy to see RWJ try the same tack 😅
Except hayloft 2 is much much better than 1. I've always felt uncomfortable listening to hayloft because of the whole "haha dad killed my bf" as a girl it's not funny or cool, it's triggering. But LOVE how they completely changed the narrative and had the original sick beats

RWJ is not 2013 era he's more 2009
If the internet was bigger in 2013 he would’ve posted shiz on YTMD and screaming “SHES NOT A CHRISTIANN”
@@D44RK_Iced_Yogs at least that would still be funny dorksided lady is timeless 😂
It's like being bullied at a playground as a kid and the bully just says later "I joke I joke haha you fucking loser, don't take it so seriously!"
The songs you mentioned don't have actual hurtful ethnical slurs in them, they just play with the idea.
exactly. its not the content, its the quality.
The only thing funny about Ray’s music is that he’s such an untalented musician, he needs to write the most offensive stuff he can think of or else no one will care.
I’m completely fine with stereotypes in jokes but… Ray… You can’t just…. List stereotypes and call it a joke
@@thedestroyasystem he created a punchline and forgot to do the setup😂

He knows what he's doing, but he's being way too obvious to be taken seriously by his target demographic. RWJ has always sort of profited off the "anti-PC culture" trends aimed at conservatives and edgy 12 year-olds, it's just way more embarrassing now that he's a fully grown adult
apparently he’s 40, too, which to me makes this even more pathetic and embarrassing to watch. like goddamn, i’d expect this stuff from someone’s whos in their early 20s at most, not a 40 year old.
@@deadeyeguys that's embarrassing.. like he has to be on something to still be like this
Same thing can literally be said about Filthy Frank, PewDiePie (especially) and even Kris from Mr Beast.
@@Ironbanner12 Kris from mr beast made a few edgy jokes in the past that seemed to be more projection than anything, not comparable to RWJ at all lmfao. Filthyfrank definitely did make edgy content but it was at least funny instead of regurgitating cheap stereotypes lmfaoo. Pewdiepie's content wasn't particularly offensive either, yes he did go through a phase where he tried to be edgy which was clearly him trying way too hard to move away from the image of him being a children's entertainer, but I dont remember his content being particularly offensive (at least not moreso than anyone else on the platform at the time), the main issue with him is the n-word controversy which was very fucked up but doesnt really have much to do with his actual content so again not really comparable to RWJ.
My first reaction to seeing this vid was just “Why is he back?” I feel like the internet has outgrown him. It’s been like 10 years since his peak popularity.
⚠️ *FLASHING LIGHTS WARNING* ⚠️ 10:00 for as long as they cover the stereotype song.
Sorry I can’t be more specific, but I’m sensitive to flashing lights so I can’t check myself. Stay safe everybody!
What's it like when you see flashing lights, before ya look away ofc.

And it's just the fact that everyone basically forgot about those videos. But I could be wrong on that though 🤷.
But now it seems like that is exactly what he wants in order to be relevant again, and it's super baffling 😕!

So much of YFM was just such edgelord awful stuff (which i just cant remember why i enjoyed way back when) but when there were songs that were about being a kind a person who couldnt change their situation and felt this impotent anger towards a big world that they just coudlnt understand there was actually something there, take over the world, alien and complicated were all very honest songs that were honestly kind of interesting (but sadly for each of them there were 5 or 6 songs that are best forgotten but sadly are emblazened in my brain)
Same here. I used to watch them with a cousin of mine who I was super close with (maybe that's where I have all the nostalgia) but I genuinely didn't realise how awful it and RWJ is

anything outside of the isacc butterfield strawman of the SJW holding cardboard signs that read "Cancel [BLANK]" is too much for them because they have to actually question themselves. they just want everybody to agree with them and the people who disagree with them to be presened as garbage pail kids stickers rather than a human being.
