In this lesson, you will learn how to draw stem and leaf plots to represent statistical data. These types of plots represent data by breaking up numbers into stems and leaves which are then shown in a chart. The number of leaves on a line in this type of plot will indicate the relative frequency of the numbers in the data set.

In other words, there is no legitimate reason to teach this to middle school aged kids. I'm a University graduate, on the deans list for academic excellence with a 3.985 gpa, in computer science. I've been in programming and analysis for over 20 years. Know how often I've used a stem and leaf plot? NEVER EVER EVER!!!!! NOT ONE SINGLE TIME!!!
