and it should be said that more offense does not always mean more runs, it means more hits, and less reliance on walks and home runs, which make rallys difficult. hits are exicting its a fact. walks strikeout and homers being the huge chunk of games is boring

A lot of garbage rules, adding a player to second base in extra innings seems unprofessional. The sliding into second, as well as home plate collisions. Don’t change rules because of freak accidents. The DH rule in the NL, takes strategy away from the game. Analytics takes away from being a fan of a starting pitcher, also making these pitchers mentally weak. Also, too many teams in the playoffs waters it down.
@@peskytalk for what it’s worth, people like Greg maddux & Randy Johnson have been on record about analytics causing weak minded pitchers. As well as Buster Posey disliking the collision at the plate rule following his broken leg.
Dont forget what else he did in 2021. He took away the All Star Game from Atlanta due to a political issue, then at the end of the year, gave the 2024 All Star Game to Texas, who had the same laws they took it away from Atlanta for passing.
I mean why stop at 12? Why not go up to 16 or 18 or just have a 30 team tournament? If the reason for expanding the playoffs is more TV revenue and fan engagement, why limit it to 12? Teams play 162 games to find out who the best teams are, just to have 40% of the league make the playoffs
Going light on the Astros players allowed MLB to sweep the wider issue of teams cheating under the rug. Setting up outage at the worst offenders and protecting the other big market teams.
I give manfred a pass mainly because there’s no video or physical evidence showing and proving they cheated in the postseason only theories and kinda difficult to punish every single player from a whole team all at once without fucking everyone and everything over the which im against
Astros: it seems pretty clear that the players turned state's evidence, so to speak, against the coaches/owner. And doing an NCAA style "vacated" title would've been nuts. Covid: ultimate no-win scnenario and handled well. The owners weren't going to pay for anything more than a 60 game season. Lock Out: everyone is getting an F. There needs to be a salary cap. There needs to be sooner free agency for players. A'a relocation: Manfred gets a pass from me. Bud Selig gets more blame and the Giants get some as well for not returning the favor regarding the San Jose territory. But really, the owners should push Fisher out. Baseball rule changes, for the most part, have been great and long needed. -Pitch clock: A+ -Extra inning rule: B (play the 10th inning regular) -Expanded Playoffs: C (just too many teams for my taste) -Univeraal DH: A -Balanced schedule: C- (just expand and realign already) -Pick off rules: A -Bigger bases/first base lane: B (do we really notice this?) -3 batter minimum: A -Shift ban: A+++ (advanced metrics turned the shift into Insanity) -Sticky stuff: F (must be revisited. This is where a lot of these injuries are coming from) -World Series ratings: Put the games on in fhe afternoon!
Why should there be a salary cap? If a team like the Mets, Yankees, Braves, Dodgers, etc. can spend money, why can’t a team like the Pittsburgh pirates, Milwaukee brewers, etc. open their wallets? The Kansas City Royals are a small market team, but yet they opened up their wallet widely for Bobby Witt Jr to build around him. Small market teams have NO EXCUSE for not spending.
I loathe Rob Manfred and wish anyone else was commissioner, but I'm glad that you were more fair towards him and made me even look at it from a different perspective, so for that, I thank you
i like every single rule change and think they are good for the game. the players using sticky stuff is a big deal, because it hides what their talent level might be in its true form. the pitch clock isnt causing injuries bec they were rising for years before it, and they will keep rising becuse they dont manage their load in a game, its max all the time. the enlarged bases are great, more steals awesome way more fun
Well I'm going to insert something to you Stuart Sternberg tried to move the Tampa Bay Rays to Montreal until Rob Manford actually stepped in we're going to get a new stadium
The rule changes have all been great. I preferred the one game wildcard, thought the sudden death game was a great way to kick off the postseason. That being said, I would wieght these issues in a way where he ends up worse than mid. The astros scandal and the lockout were FAR more impactful than the sticky stuff or the As relocation (lets be brutally honest here. Its not like anyone outside of oakland has passionate feelings on that. It absolutely sucks and I feel bad for them, but ultimately its not the same when its not your team and its a thousand miles a way). The astros scandal could legitimately be a controversy for decades, and I think if everyone involved, players included, had gotten a 162 game suspension and the title was revoked pretty much everyone other than some astros fans would be mostly over it. As it is everyone STILL hates them, and will until every player involved is off that team. Given that Id say its more of a D grade.
Personally I weight the rule changes HIGHER than ANYTHING else bc those affect all 30 teams all 162 games of the season. And viewership is really what his job is all about right? So if the rule changes make viewership better he’s doing good? I agree though the relocation is the least important of the 3 and the way the Astros were handled was awful too but idk, I just really think he’s done a solid job with the rule changes. I’m going to get slammed in these comments though man so thanks for at least being civil about it 😂😂
The one thing I'm disappointed is him just being mmm about the As relocating, like I get if a team can't get a new stadium especially in a city like Oakland, it just sucks from a historical level of it and im sorry for him to blame the fans is crazy lol. When an owner purposely ruins the team, the stadium is shitty, and the all around atmosphere is horrible why show up? Like Oakland, the As owner, and the mlb really can't find a way to build a new stadium in Oakland or the surrounding area haha idk it just seems like the only reason is money, which I get to a point but moraly seems so damn wrong lol
A bunch of other rule changes, so so many that I just didn’t mention, schedule changes is another one, I just didn’t have time, but overall I like them!

I love the pitch clock. It speeds up the games, cause sometimes you get that 1 pitcher who decides to sit on the mound for like 2 whole minutes before pitching.
Expanded postseason is great? So one team which actually wins their division is being punished by a wild card series? I thought the reason for the 2 wild card format was to actually try to punish the wild card, instead the current format punishes a division winner. The fact you liked when the MLB did the classic NHL or NBA format in 2020 says it all. Let’s just make that permanent with the same structure if it’s all about money and less about integrity, and shrink the season while we’re at it. Baseball is meant to be a marathon, not a sprint like football, they play 162 games, so only the absolute best should have a shot at winning it all. If you want an expanded format, do something so a bunch of wild cards have to compete for that final spot, I’m not against something like the play in, just don’t relegate the division winner to that status. For example, imagine something like a World Cup group where the 4 best wild cards all face each other once where only the top team gets to go to the ALDS/NLDS
If baseball is meant to me a marathon then why would you want a 1 game wild card? The 3 game wild card is way better for baseball, adding 2 extra teams for more games is better for baseball. And you get punished by not being one of the 2 best teams! It’s not perfect but I MUCH prefer this version of the playoff format
Only division winners should have a true shot at winning it all, a wildcard who barely squeaks by is given the same treatment as division winners. In the 2 wild card format, this truly meant getting a wildcard was undesirable, I would have taken it one step further and insisted the wild card winner starts the ALDS the very next day no matter where that game is being played.
