Riley looking good! Many of those home warranties are scams. The good call, it had the best wiring guy out there. I must have raked the leaves off that housing 3 times, but they were still there. Some nice work Curtis.
I had a home warranty company call me a while back wanting me to do work for them. I politely declined. I feel sorry for the people that use those home warranty companies.
Smart move! Walking away from a high potential of not getting paid. Warranties usually are out to “Rheem” either the tech or the homeowner. A sad but true situation I kinda feel for the owner but you gotta do what you gotta do
Curtis get ready for even colder weather this coming week the deep south is getting an artic blast. Me I am hating this much cold weather southeastern pa usaully is not this cold anymore we get weather more now like you guys do. Normally this time of the year it's in the 40s low 50s but goes below freezing at night not highs in the 20s or teens. Stay safe
7:30 i think it looks familiar because one that looked exactly like that, you got shocked from the molex plug wires in the wrong position on a new install. Don't know if it is the same call but i remember watching that video a long time ago lol
@@HVACGUY Curtis, you're a gentleman to the core. Even gentleman get angry, and it was written all over your face. Friend, you are also a professional, with composure. You are a good man.
Curtis, I just ran into something strange on my heater. I woke up Tuesday morning and it was cold. I went to up my T-Stat and it was dead. I pulled the cover off my unit and one breaker was popped, the one providing the transformer power and 2 of the elements. I took a good look and found a limit switch blown. Because I was freezing, I pulled the wire off of that element and reset the breaker to get a little heat. I kept an eye on it for a while to make sure it was safe, then buttoned it all up. What's strange is it's now putting out more heat with 2 elements than it was before with 3. Both the dual element and the single one are only a little over a year old, so I'm guessing they are "Made in China".
I had the same problem on a non-heat-pump air handler in a rental unit, It was just a 2 element 15kw heat strip that had locking overheat relays. I just disconnected one of them and it has been smooth sailing through the cold snap...My guess is that the tenant was closing air vents in rooms not needing heat to save electricity and this was creating an air flow problem. I will probably leave them like they are until someone complains about weak heating capacity, upon which I will explain that all vents must remain open.
Sucks the first guy did that to you. When you turned the camera on yourself I could see how frustrated and upset it made you and rightfully so. You handled it better than I would have.
Well, the first gent had the option to pay you for your services and submit the invoice to home warranty himself. That's fair, not like you outright refused to help him. If that roll out was any indication, there may be bigger issues with that unit and you might have walked into a mess, that he couldn't afford and you had to condemn. I think walking away was a smart move. Sadly, the home owner learns a valuable lesson about home warranty companies.
DANG Curtis, you just can't win with the electricity lately! looks in slow-mo like it jumped off the black hot wire terminal on taht contactor 3-4 inches in an arcing pattern and bit you! Wonder if that terminal is loose? Could be another case of open neutral or ground! Glad you're ok but sure makes for some good entertainment! Cheers from ~102mi SE of you in florida.
I do a lot of Home Warrenty calls. Cinch is by far the best one that I work with. A lot of other companies just deny deny deny claims. I feel bad for those people. Overall you are better putting that money away every month instead of people these companies
Did you go to that trailer to hook it up those wires? to begin with hmmm ….. i don’t know plus should be some sort of shielding so you don’t get a rub out? good video good t/s asa always
Curtis. You have eyes like a cat. When I drop a cover screw, it falls off the planet. I always keep a sandwich bag full in my bag or I would wear out my boots going for replacements.
when you connect copper wiring from disconnect to the aluminum lugs on contactor you need to apply anti corrosion electrical paste to prevent corrosion
@@ronroberts7566 Most range lugs manufactured today are rated CU-AL. Copper/Aluminum and do not need anti oxidedent compound. It is stamped on the lug. Look for it.
A guy like you is honest, hard working and fair will always have a job in the industry!!! WELL DONE!!!
That first call walking away was the best thing to do. Bypassing the roll out switch not cool probably heatexchanger problem. Good video Curtis.
Now that’s funny, “ima look at it real quick”, you kept your word..lol
My home warranty is at the bank. It’s called a savings account. Others should too. You handled that as well as you could Curtis.
Over 65% of Americans live week to week.
Good idea walking away from home warranty stuff.
Nice to see Ryley again 😊😊😊

I agree
💯🎯 or you as the technician does all their paperwork that they want and then it gets denied anyway
@ They will look for any reason not to pay, usually neglect, like a clogged drain or dirty filter.
Both nice video's Curtis, you done your best with both jobs 👍 Au
Yeah, there's Reilly... helping out as always!!
Riley is Eating Well and Looking Great. 👍🙏
Fine looking animal

Don’t blame you on the home warranty. The last company I worked for did some home warranty work and it was always a PITA to deal with them.
Great repair Curtis hi Riley thanks for the video
DUDE.. After that flame sensor incident... you scared the F out of me on that 2nd call 🤣
lol😂

Thanks!
Thank you 😎 🤟
You bet
Great work on second unit curtis 👍✌️
Thanks

Smart I would never do work where you wouldn’t get money until after things are “worked” out…..
First call, that heat exchanger is cracked for sure.
Holy hell UA-cam adsense!!! Why is there so many unskippable ads on this short 22 minute video?

Fortunately...any electric shock like that will only be at 110 volts...even on a 220 volt circuit to ground.
Run don’t walk away .you would never get paid .
Thanks.
No problem
RUN AND RUN FAST.......

hi riley!
Looked like my unit -burned wires and all
Home Warranties are a scam
This one does look strangely familiar
Do you not have HVAC GUY stickers to put on systems you work on? Every company I deal with seems to want to put those stickers on all my stuff. :)
I've seen Curtis work on many units that have those stickers on them. That didn't stop them from using Climate Control.
👍👍👍😊
Nice repair. I'm still curious why the t/stat was blank? Does the contactor supply voltage to that circuit as well?
Supplies voltage to the transformer, which gives us the low voltage for thermostat

I was just about to make this same comment except I was going to say eyes of an eagle !
@
Lets split the credit. Im not greedy. I like blue steel too. In various calibers.
A friend of mine keeps a pocket full of screws.
Same here
Yea sears is gone outta business and so is the company that bought them so the warranty is worthless
What kind of camera do you use for your videos a GoPro?
Yes
