I've watched almost all of your videos. For me, all of your content is entertaining but this has been the most entertaining. Well done! I'd love to see more content like this.
I’ve hit at a mile but it was clear and there was very little wind. Even still it took me about 10 rounds to dial it in and even then I hit about 1 out of 3. Super impressed that you guys were hitting the mile with gusty winds like that.
Great video, I lived in SA and Namibia for almost 2 years, love hearing the Afrikaans. On your second round at the mile with your first hit I figure you had it won, but that wind was crazy. Baie Lekker!
Great shooting Piet! You made the finals and put gave it your best - I’m sure you’ll get 6 impacts next year 😊. That wind looked quite spicy 🌶️, so you all did great getting hits at 1 mile
Yeah man when you crank up your magnification when you're shooting long range with crazy wind it's so much harder to track your shots... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
The only time I've shot at these ranges was with a .50cal and with the 249 we did shoot at 600 meter area targets, can't remember if 800 went up or not. The .50cal range I think gets the 600 (might be wrong about this one), 800, 1200, and 1600 meter targets. Its been a long time since I've gotten to go shoot MGs though.
MDT Ess? I have one as well.. Amazing chassis. I have a 300 winmag sitting in my ESS with a custom action made by myself, a bartlein heavy target barrel, Calvin elite trigger at 6oz, Accutak bipod, Muzzle brake made by mark in australia. (mark and sam after work), And an IOR Valdatta recon g2 scope in a Spuhr mount of course. Im getting well under 1/4 MOA with 230g Berger hybrids and 70g of H1000 inj Norma cases.
Fantastic shooting Piet! That wind was extremely sketchy. My poor little 6 ARC would not do well in those conditions. (Ok, I wouldn't do well in those conditions. lol)
I always go back to my military time. 300 yards with iron sights. I do want to try out a 600+ yard range. Unfortunately I have none near where I live. Love the video. Great shooting shooter.
The higher the magnification the harder to hold even with a rock steady rest. Slightest twitch and no bullshit your own heartbeat can move that reticle. And at those ranges that slight movement will move your impact inches if not feet
I feel like the 338xc would be better for this competition only because you can run a 300+ grain pill and it'll buck that wind good at 3k fps 28 Sherman does good too I just like the added weight for these conditions especially
I entirely disagree. Nobody cares about what his face looks like when he pulls the trigger. Sure it's nice to see what he's doing but almost everyone only cares about the shot cam.
with all of the ballistic data you calculate for i have to ask do you account for powder temp. i only shot .308 but it was always 700m out to 1200m. and the usual wind, air temp, air pressure, humidity etc etc were still not spot on with my elevations. my standard deviation of my LR rounds was
What caliber are you shooting? I am just finishing up a 7 SAUM for ELR. Savage long action left hand 28 inch Xcaliber barrel in a stars and stripes MDT LSS XL chassis
This looks like a heap of fun! In fact I know it is. It’s a damn shame we have max. range of 300yrd where I am, which is NOTHING! Would love to spend a weekend like this.
@@TrggrWarning I was thinking about something that Henry from 9-Hole does in his videos, where he takes a knee by target, to show how it compares, so viewers can have some perspective.
So just an idea for the video edits. You know the little arrows that pop up by your “Miss” and “Impact” edit in the bottom right? Well you should place the arrows in correlation to your shot. Like if you are shooting high, then put the arrows pointing up, or if your impacting the right side of the target, you should put the arrows points to the right.
I'm curious, what's the separation of impact between your 28 and the 6.5 PRC of your friend (sorry don't know how to spell his name) when shot at the same time?
As someone new to the channel, where are you from? Sounds cool. And a cool video. If you can hit a target at 30knot winds at a mile... you can hit at a mile, in good conditions lol
If you dont get audio, uncheck the 5.1 surround on the video settings and it should fix it.
17:55 that was a sick bolt pull. Style points-100

Amazing shooting my friend and thank you for having us with you I fully enjoyed it.

Sounds fun, was the wind quite like this event though?
That's the same format as the night force ELR match. 20 stages like that.

I use a Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60 on my 300 WM for long range shooting. I very seldom go above 20 power when I shoot. Nice shoot'n.
Very nice, but like the others, I would like to know the size of the target at 1.6km.
Nice one Piet. Would have liked to see a chat with the winner as to calibre and his game plan, and maybe with Schalk too with the “little” 6.5 PRC.
@flipmarias Winner was Dwayn Cronje with a 300 norma AI
god I can't get over how buttery smooth that rifle sounds off the barrel, literally a dream each time I hear that thing fire.
Which suppressor cover are you running? Thank you so much in advance!
That would be awesome shooting without wind, but to add that much wind with almost 3sec TOF, that's impressive!

1608 meters is only 0.9991648771 of a mile so technically it’s not a mile lol. I love this guys enthusiasm. Fun time.
what caliber? and what grain bullets did you use?
What are the specs of your mdt ?

great shooting! excellent vids! Were you having ejection issues? or did your hand hit the brass and it stayed in the receiver a few times?
