i would pay a full concert ticket price to see kamelot perform ONE song with roy khan, and it would be 100% worth it.
Yes,.. But I have seen them in the current line-up twice. And Tommy doesn't have the RAW emotion of Roy,.. But his voice tips a little bit more into having better technique. (The emotion is all still there ofc. Just not like Roy's)
Go watch their current live DVD and see what I mean :) It might just be worth the price of admission in any way you'd slice it. I was positively suprised honestly.
@@JosephBlack You will never hear me say that Roy and Tommy are equally good as vocalists. Since IMHO Roy is a vocalist that is on a whole other level.
However I have listened to their latest live CD from 013 Tilburg, and I have to say, the original Tommy songs are really good and powerful. However, everything Khan wrote is just not the same coming from Tommy, missing that raw emotion.
Luckily, we have Conception for new Roy material ;)
@@TheBlakByrd I have to agree, especially the songs made with Roy don't have that peak emotion. You can almost hear it's Tommy just being professional about it and doing his part. Which is absolutely sad. I haven't listened to recent Conception much. Worth it you say?
@@JosephBlack Deffinetly worth it! Don't expect anything like old Kamelot though, it's really different. More experimental and progressive, like we know of old Conception. The latest release State of Deception is really worth a good listen!

I love this song as well. I love the whole Black Halo album. A true classic, and the high water mark for Kamelot. They truly lost their heart and soul when Roy left.
My personal favorite is the "Elizabeth" trilogy. Thomas has said in interviews that it is also his favorite as well.
It’s got everything, slow, mid pace, fast, power, melodic, progressive, and on top of it amazing lyrics and vocals. All Kamelot in 8min

Is simply amazing how Roy can sound even better on stage than he does in studio.
In my opinion, Kamelot during his time was so far the greatest. I'm hoping the best for Tommy, but I know Khan's epoch will always be remembered as ONE of a kind. He made music AND art.

I was fortunate enough to see them with Khan out in LA during their Ghost Opera tour. The videos you see of their live performances don’t even do it justice. The absolute power and emotion that Roy commands on stage is unreal, especially when he is right in your face. As fans of the band I wish you had gotten to experience it as well. I haven’t seen another vocalist that can top what he did.

Well, you will get your wish. Roy has re-joined his original band, Conception, and they are putting out a new album this year, followed by a tour. Search for Conception on UA-cam and take a listen.

How can a live version outdo the studio version....I cannot stop listening to this version just for that "close my eyes" part at the beginning. Amazing vocals.

Oh, man. I have tried to sing Kamelot's songs for a long time and every time I try, I realize how difficult it is to sing these songs. Roy has such a control over his voice that I can't even describe. For instance, 1:16 to 1:19 is so hard to get right. I mean, Khan is an great artist. He really makes these songs sound easy but try to sing them, man. That's why you can't find any good cover of him on youtube. I salute you Khan.

tracye shannon True Tommy is good vocalist but nobody can even touch Khan.Every move he makes on scene , every note he sings it's just breath-taking. Roy is just out of this world.
he is like no other, i will agree. but i also feel that tommy has filled his shoes beautifully. i never got to see roy live, unfortunately. but i have seen tommy 4 times now, and the show is better every time. he is so at ease on stage, such passion and energy. we as fans are so very blessed that kamelot are continuing their legacy with tommy. (and thrilled that roy's performances are immortalized on video!)

Sadly I loved Roys vocal so much that I find it very hard to listen to Kamelot without him, Kamelot with Roy is my favorite band ever.

Ryuobbi I was about to buy their tickets, but for some issue I didn't, I was lucky bcs after a few weeks Roy left the band and the concert I was about to buy ticket would be sung by Lione. After this i never wanted to see them live, Roy give those vibes in live performance that I ever wanted to "taste". But now it's gone.
You know, I happen to think Tommy Karevik is amazing. It's just that Roy was a god. His voice can bring you to your knees.

I agree on both fronts. Tommy is a great singer. Roy is a once in a generation talent though. The emotion he can convey with his voice is incredible.

I mean, Roy was 23 there. With all due respect to Tommy he's great but in this particular comparison it's not a matter of experience but a matter of inborn talent. Roy deserves all the praises and the love he's got cause, indeed, he's a one of a kind talent. And I'm gonna miss him all my life just as I've been missing him these past 6 years.

The atmosphere of this song is incredible. Anybody can write something catchy; pop bands are all about that. It takes something intangible to give you chills and make you think about things larger than the music piece. Kamelot are true artists!

O Khan não só representava, ele mergulhava de cabeça, sentia, interpretava de fato as letras. Acho que foi que fez mal pra ele. Fico feliz e triste ao mesmo tempo... Feliz por tê-lo conhecido - já no Kamelot -, e triste por sua saída. Uma das melhores vozes e interpretação que já ouvi!

My MOST favorite preformance from Kamelot, ever. I love how he re-arranged this song from the cd version. He's just as good, if not, even better, of a vocalist live even when compared to how he sounds on Kamelot's Cds.

I knew these guys were good live, but...DAMN, that totally blew me away. I've been a fan of the band for years too, but that was just amazing. One of my first favorite Kamelot songs too.
I speak several langueges but I´m not able to find the secuence of words that can explain this fucking awsome piece of art. I really like Tommy, he is one of my top 5 singers, but Roy .....He is God dressed as a singer.

love the guitar solo in this song. An epic climax to an epic album. This is what true music is. Hundreds of years from now this will be remembered as the ninth symphony of the era, a true masterpiece. The world will be a colder place if Roy Khan does not come back to Kamelot.
Personally, while it may not be my favorite, I think this is quite clearly Kamelot's best song.
