Naja ob man das als Cover so richtig sehen kann ich sehe das eher kontrovers. Ein richtiges Cover fand ich war das nicht, wo war denn Ulrich mit dem Schlagzeug und wo war Hetfield da überhaupt. Ich weiß haar genau covern wäre unmöglich gewesen, aber ich fand das schwach, erst recht da Metallica zu ihren Anfangstagen eine Cover Band war. Naja wenigstens haben sie es versucht und schließlich hat Rammstein ihre Karriere so richtig in den U.S.A gestartet.
I am less surprised they did a cover of Engel while in Germany than I am surprised at the relative lack of enthusiasm from the audience at it.
I think it has something to do with the recording. Search for their "Mayor Tom" performance in Stuttgart. There is one video recorded on the stage and you barley hear the audience. And then there is one video (in good quality!) recorded in the audience and you hear clearly how the the entire stadium goes wild singing the refrain.

Not all Americans agree with the lyrics. Most likely why James and Lars are not present or playing. Especially most Americans can't even read in English let alone German to appreciate the beauty of Rammstein. It's why America is falling apart at the seams now. America has no idea how spoiled they are and consequently no respect for anything anymore at all not even themselves.

...also müsste sich wohl eher *Metallica* wünschen, mal ein Cover von *RAMMSTEIN* (als der *sehr* "weit größeren" Band) aus ihrem Repertoir zu erleben und *sich* solchermaßen geehrt fühlen!
Diese Ehre wurde stattdessen allerdings bislang nur *Depeche Mode* zuteil ( *"Stripped"* )...

Do you even go to live shows? Why? Live shows are at their best when they’re an experience; not just a polished retread of material you’ve heard thousands of times.
That’s nonsense . You don’t have to cover it exactly but at least honor the original. When most bands do a cover at a show they put effort into it. This looked/sounded like crap and had no drums. Sounds like they practiced it in 5 minutes. You wanna see/hear a worse one, see their “purple rain” cover.

Sadly, but very poor reaction form the auditory, expected more (and Metalica deserved more, for their tremendous work!)
Ich war schon bei einigen Konzerten im Olympiastadion. Auch bei noch schlechterem Wetter. Und bei jedem dieser Konzerte gab es am Sound nix auszusetzen. Das darf bei einer so großen Band wie Metallica einfach nicht passieren. Gegenüber der Bühne, quasi einmal längst durch das Stadion, war es ein fröhliches Liederraten, weil man weder die Stimme, noch die Musik richtig zuordnen konnte. Selbst ein geschenktes Ticket wäre da zuviel des Guten gewesen.
Kauf dir halt bessere Tickets. Stadien sind so gebaut, dass du hinten nicht mehr das selbe Musikerlebnis hast wie vorne.
the position is in a bad place, with that bass being right next to the camera person really makes it hard to understand it, so I can't really tell if they're doing a good job at it or not :D
