This song was one that always stuck with me, and made me smarten up my life. Whenever I was doing stupid stuff, I'd have this come into my head, and make me realize I needed to get my life together.
The first time I heard this song, I felt absolutely called out and cried because I knew I fucked up. I grew up with both parents, divorced but healthy relationship, and they did everything for me and my brother. We didn’t have discipline though and in no way am I blaming them for who I am, I know it’s on me, but I fucked up a lot because of that lack of discipline. I was a star baseball player and then quit once I got a girlfriend and started smoking weed 24/7. So much happened during that time and my coping mechanisms were just smoking and having sex and just trying to be out of my head all the time. I never confronted my issues, I ran from them and waited for it all to go away. Didn’t work obviously, it screwed me more because I ended up with 2 duis, my girlfriend of 3 years cheated on my with my best friend while I was in jail, developed an eating disorder, and my parents sent me to a mental hospital for my anger issues. I still struggle with confronting my problems sometimes but I’m alot better now and this song helped get me in the mindset to fix myself even more. I wish I could sit and talk with you or hopsin because I know I’d learn so much more than I have already. I don’t really have anybody to talk to about my mental health so I just had to shoulder it on my own mostly and fix myself in solitude which sucks but I’m getting through it and it’s helped me learn how to deal with many things on my own. I’m grateful for my mistakes though because it helped me be a better person and learn more about myself and the world. Hopsin is one of few artists who can change your life with just one song and it’s an amazing experience
Hey man, ik im just some random youtube commenter scrolling at 3 am on a Thursday LMFAO but i relate to the first part of your story HEAVY. Very similar to my life. I’m really happy to hear your doing better. If you ever do need to talk to someone still, ik u don’t know me but I am down to lend an ear. Prayers for you man, keep on keeping on. 🙏🏻
I appreciate you coming out and saying this in the comment section because it resonated with me a lot. I've had similar experiences and just want to say that even though I'm a random stranger, I am still an open ear to talk to. Sometimes it's hard to talk to friends about such things, even if they are good friends you just might feel like you don't want to burden them (at least I feel like that sometimes, but that's just me). I know this comment is months old so I hope all is better, but just reaching out a safe place to talk in case not.
I know I'm just a random person on You Tube, but I just wanted you to know that I read your whole story, and I sympathize with you. I'm an addict (clean almost 2 years). I've had problems myself. I hope you have found a support system and I also want you to know that I am proud of the fact that you had the courage to post your life story for us to read. Best of luck in life my friend!
To the people who replied, I’m sorry I didn’t see this till now but thank you a thousand times over. You have no idea how much it means to know you care and want to help even when you don’t know me. The same goes for you all if you ever see this and need or want to talk just let me know, you all have another friend for life. Even turned my notifications on for yall now😂 I’ve been doing good though despite all the challenges still being thrown my way. It’s not been an easy year but I’ve just been trying to work and be better for myself and everybody in my life. But again thank you all for being there for me even though I never noticed till now lol. I really really hope you all are doing good and are happy and healthy and I’m proud of all of you for being who you are. You all deserve the best life possible❤️
This song came out when I was in college failing at life. It went to replay for my ears. Didn’t change me right away, but stuck with me enough to have a positive impact later on! Love this stuff. There is a reason he is underground! This is to real for the masses
one of my all time favourites of hopsin. He is spitting the raw truth which is so relatable and like a slap from your parent when you fucked up real bad. He not only holds accountable but gives a different perspective which can lead to light and progress. Absolutely amazing. much love from Switzerland
You need to hear Fly and Alone With Me by Hopsin. You would love both of them from a therapy level and they are just amazingly well written songs with mind-blowing cinematography.
It’s tough love a lot of people need. As a teen I needed more than anything for an adult to bring me back to reality no matter how bad it would have hurt to hear
For me. When I heard this song when it dropped. I was 19 just rented my first apartment, just barely scraping by . Then I heard this song and realized I was doing kinda exactly what he’s preaching. It was like a slap in the face. I was partying too much, spending so much on alcohol, weed and nicotine. Then he made me realize that I’m just going in a bad direction. I still drink and smoke but now it’s because I know I’m in a good spot that it’s no longer a vice for me. This song really made me think about moderation.
I recited half this song before past friends told me to chill tf out. Spoke levels because I did not want to be my brother or dad. I've now recovered from drug addiction but getting over alcoholism. Felt so ahead until I was in it. Was so deep in the worth everyone gave me but now I know it and don't need confirmation. All of you can do this without the blank space of trauma I left.
Hopsin is the goat he is who got into rap music and caused me to write my own music … hopsin I relate too alot and believe it or not this was the first song I ever heard from hopsin back in 2012 and I’ve been a huge fan ever since!
I’m a kiwi living in New Zealand and even here this is completely relatable and definitely a much needed raw truth said in the most truthfully emotional way that can’t help but pull a string inside each of us…. Because it’s true… Great Reactions
This was the first Hopsin song I ever heard back when I was in high school and I fell in love instantly. Everything he says is true, it was true then and it still holds true now!
lil late to this but i remember listening to this around the age when i first started partying and it def made me feel more conscious about my choices i make
What hes sayin is all these young people (such as myself several years ago) have shitty values, are lost in life. They think they're winning, smoking weed, drinking, doin drugs, and we assumed success and contentment came naturally. Hes callin us dumbasses and asking us to change by clownin on us. One of the realest songs ever written.
Hopsin is an amazing artist. He is not wrong about anything he says in this song, it sounds preachy and it should, because someone has to say it. This song was so good and still is that I think even Hopsin himself feels like its hard to top his own song. Great reaction, hope to see you do more Hopsin.
Other than the brain cells rotting from weed part. BUT it could just be a metaphor about how weed can make people lazy. Really depends on the individual and habit. He's 100% right regarding the specific types of ppl he's talking about though
To me, it screams "oh shit, a failed artist on his high horse during the height of his short career" Because his career wen't to shit and this was preechy nonsense back then, and still is now. Not every weed smoker is an idiot and not every alcoholic is a loser as this song tries to potray. Funny how he mentions someone working at a gas station in this song in a negative manner, and now he's pretty much at that same level career wise. Karmas a bitch. Maybe he should have smoked or drank to up his creativity levels. The irony is astounding lmao. P.S- Don't take advice from a man who wears cosmetic contacts seriously.
Wow!! This came up on my home screen and I just had to check it out! There are only 2 rappers I listen to and Hopsin is one of them. The other one is Tech N9ne. You should listen to him! I am a bipolar 47 year old white woman and they are the only artists I ever listen to. The fact that this came up maybe says I listen too much. Lol. Actually, they are both great therapy for me, especially Tech N9ne. I love this reaction and can't wait to watch more!!
Hopsin spitting facts and people aren't gonna like it cause the truth hurts but he's trying to wake you up to the reality of the world. Hopsin, Dax, Tom McDonald and NF are lyrical genius and go figure they're all independent
Yeah, because dissing other peoples lifestyles who you have no real clue about their struggles is so ballsy..... if he would have called out other rap artists of the time by name, maybe. Nah life can come down to a single choice. A lot of people’s lives have ended because of 1 choice. Whether it’s death, prison, paralyzation, etc. lives end based on a single choice whether a good or bad person
I’ve listened to this song for a very long time one of my older step brothers showed me it when I was young and I’ve always agreed with this song, people always want pity from others for the mistakes they made.
I loved this song when it first came out and I still do. The truth behind it all, I first heard it as this video on Facebook. I shared it because I felt like he was calling out a lot of my high-school friends who just simply threw their lives away. Or just don't try hard enough to make things happen as he states, but they complain how their life is miserable. Everyone single group he called out, was right spot on. I graduated in 2006
I have a special request for you, Tom. Mesus - Freepression (Suicide Prevention) It's a very powerful song and it's right up your alley, I know some of your viewers could benefit from your opinions on the song. You'd enjoy it I'm sure and you reacting to it could help others. Hopefully you take this comment into consideration.
Hopsin is always great. I'll mind 5 is the best one in my opinion! I'm tellin ya you gotta check out some aesop rock dude has rapped more words than shakespear as well as mental health perspectives! Try shrunk or get out the car ase

I hope you take this comment with the objectivity and sincerity that I mean with it. Hopsin is obviously incredibly skilled, intelligent, insightful, and creative. Arguably this could be a result of what I'm about to say next. He grew up a loser his whole life, excluded and alone. He never got to experience the kind of fun most other people do in their youth. He's understandably bitter about that. That being said, obviously there's a lot of truth in what he's saying, regardless of what caused him to reach those viewpoints. But he has a very conservative viewpoint (I mean he even thinks weed is bad). And I don't mean politically conservative, but psychologically. And sure black people do tend to skew more conservative in general, and of course you being in your age bracket and part of a different generation all contribute to having that perspective. I'm acknowledging all of this to build up to my point. That yes, you should be smart and responsible, but when you're young? I'm not sure I agree. I believe youth should be enjoyed, making as many stupid decisions as you can. The being smart and responsible part comes in the form of also doing what you need to do while having fun, and also learning from the consequences of the stupid decisions you make. There's a lot of forms of fun that you can't enjoy when you're older. That you can only enjoy when you're young. Some of which Hopsin sadly missed out on due to lacking social skills or whatever the case may be, and it's sad that he'll never experience those kinds of fun. Does that mean he's safer because of it? Of course. But I'm sure you as a therapist would agree that safety is an illusion, and the more you try to maintain it the less you are able to live. Like everything else, it's about balance. The message of this song (which btw is old enough to no longer be part of the current generation of youth) is definitely very important to counter balance the excessive skewing of society in the other direction. Which is why I sent this video to my 16 year old sister, with the caveat that I'll be discussing it with her later and explaining that neither extreme is good. Do what you need to do, then go out and be as stupid and irresponsible as you want. I'm sure you also agree as a therapist that a lot of times it's extremely difficult to teach kids certain things without them having to learn the hard way. So with her, I prefer to arm her with the knowledge of harm reduction. I'm completely honest with her about everything because there's no point in sheltering her. She will be in those circumstances at some point or another. And when that time comes I want her to be armed with as much information as possible to be safe and make smart decisions. I find this to be a far more healthy approach than simply avoiding fun and going through life bitter and joyless. Edit: I'm 30 years old, but I'm by no means an adult. I've been on my own since I was 15 but my lifestyle is the opposite of stable, in every sense of the word. And I dread the thought of having to slow down as I get older.
Or it's true...because it is. I was a fan of his at one time but this preechy, negative, and corny shit got old fast. When someone makes a career out of talking trash about everyone and their lifestyle, it usually doesn't last long. Which is exactly what happened. When the only content they can put out is telling you how to live your life, or that the way you live yours is wrong, they will eventually hit a creative wall. Exactly why he doesn't make music anymore. Well, that and his hit or miss quality in general. Literally another form of brainwash. Someone telling you what's right and wrong (don't do drugs or drink kids, a guy with cosmetic contacts said it's bad) is not the way to go.
This song was one that always stuck with me, and made me smarten up my life. Whenever I was doing stupid stuff, I'd have this come into my head, and make me realize I needed to get my life together.

Ive been hearing this song since i was a kid and all ive ever heard is that hopsin is corny, and i think that speaks volumes about my generation
You gotta check out the jokerr. Gmo skee
